        Improved Quantum-Behaved Particle Swarm Method for Optimizing Complex Thin Plate Structure

        A large number of heavy-duty asymmetric thin-plate box girder structures exist in large equipment, and their optimization can reduce the amount of material used and increase their load-carrying capacity. A new optimization method based on the Improved Quantum-Behaved Particle Swarm Optimization method (IQBPSO) is proposed in order to efficiently solve the mathematical model for the rationalization and optimization design of structures. The penalty function and Lévy flight strategy are considered in the optimization design of the improved algorithm, thus transforming the constrained optimization problem into an unconstrained optimization problem and improving the diversity and local optimization search capability of the quantum particle swarm. A mathematical model for the optimal design of box girder section size is established with the reduction of beam cross-sectional area as the objective function and the thin plate strength, rigidity, and stability of the thin slab as the constraints. The rapid lightweight design of the thin plate box beam was achieved, resulting in a 9.6% reduction in the manufacturing cost of the thin plate box beam. The optimization results are compared with several solutions of the thin slab box beams to verify the reliability and validity of the proposed optimization method.

        A Topological Transformation and Hierarchical Compensation Capacitor Control in Segmented On-road Charging System for Electrical Vehicles

        Experiencing power declines when the secondary coil is at the middle position between two primary coils is a serious problem in segmented on-road charging systems with a single energized segmented primary coil. In this paper, the topological transformation of a primary circuit and a hierarchical compensation capacitor control are proposed. Firstly, the corresponding compensation capacitors and receiving powers of different primary structures are deduced under the condition of a fixed frequency. Then the receiving power characteristics as a function of the position variations in systems with a single energized segmented primary coil and those with double segmented primary coils are analyzed comparatively. A topological transformation of the primary circuit and hierarchical compensation capacitor control are further introduced to solve the foregoing problem. Finally, an experimental prototype with the proposed topological transformation and hierarchical compensation capacitor control is carried out. Measured results show that the receiving power is a lot more stable in the movement of the secondary coil. It is a remarkable fact that the receiving power rises from 10.8W to 19.2W at the middle position between the two primary coils. The experimental are in agreement with the theoretical analysis.

        Identification and comparative analysis of piRNAs in ovary and testis of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

        It has been shown that piRNA is the largest class of small non-coding RNA in germline cells of animals which plays key roles in transposons regulation and transcriptional activities. In the present study, piRNAs from two small RNA libraries including ovary and testis of Nile tilapia were identified and characterized. By length and k-mer based small RNA prediction algorithm, 279,059 and 583,230 small RNA reads were confirmed as piRNA from ovary and testis, respectively. The identified piRNAs showed evolutionarily conserved characterization, such as uridine bias in the 50 ends. The 142,961 and 296,775 piRNAs from ovary and testis were mapped to the draft assembly of the tilapia genome, respectively. Both ovary and testis piRNAs were enriched from linkage (LG)6 and LG7. Meanwhile, the even distribution of ?strand and -strand suggested the Ping–pong pathway (a double-displacement reaction of ?strand and -strand) hypothesis. These piRNAs were derived from the upstream -2 kb and downstream ?2 kb as well as gene regions which suggested a regulatory function on transcription activities. In gene regions, abundant piRNAs were derived from 50UTR, 30UTR and CDS. Furthermore, we characterized the differentially expressed piRNAs between ovary and testis. In total, 1979 and 2453 piRNAs were significantly higher and lower expressed in ovary compared to that in testis, respectively. Thereinto, the most concentrated up-regulate and down-regulate piRNAs were both from serine/threonine– protein kinase PIM genes of different transcripts. These findings will be helpful to facilitate studies on the piRNAs regulation on genes during gonad development of teleosts.
