        On this Study, it conducts the Standards investigation about air leakage of Buildings for performance improvement of Smoke control in Fire. In domestic standards, it is incomplete the Criteria standards of air leakage. Therefore it is considered that won’t limit the smoke spread due to stack effect. But in the case of the United States, it conducts the Hot smoke air-Leakage test and it consider that can prevent the Smoke Spread in Compartment.

        This study, changes in raw water quality is to indicate on the efficiency of ozone treatment of each pollutant as compared to derive the appropriate operating measures. The appropriate selection for injection rate of pre-ozone and did not inject pre-ozone assess changes in the water. When good water quality, you not injected of pre-ozone to evaluate the economic efficiency of electricity and put the most cost-effective ozone concentration were evaluated. Evaluation remove organic matter and chlorophyll-a concentration level in experiments with each factor of the water DOC> 2.5㎎ / L, THMFP> 70㎍ / L, Chl-a> 30㎎/㎥or less constant process, if you do not need to put pre-ozone showed little impact.         Antiadhesive effect and safety of oxidized regenerated cellulose after thyroidectomy

        Purpose: To evaluate the antiadhesive effects and safety of an oxidized regenerated cellulose (Interceed) after thyroidectomy. Methods: Seventy-six thyroidectomized patients were prospectively randomized into two groups with regard to the use of Interceed. We evaluated each group for their adhesive symptoms using four subjective and four objective items at the 2nd week, 3rd and 6th month after thyroidectomy. All patients were examined for vocal cord motility by indirect laryngoscope at each period. Results: Total adhesion scores at each postoperative follow-up period decreased with time, but were not significantly different in each group. The median score for swallowing discomfort for liquid was significantly lower in the Interceed group than in the control group 2 weeks after surgery. In addition, the severity of skin adhesion to the trachea was reduced in the Interceed group compared with the control group 6 months after surgery. During the study, there were no adverse effects or significant differences in postoperative complications between the groups. Conclusion: Interceed appeared to be safe and effective in improving neck discomfort at early postoperative periods and preventing skin adhesion to the trachea 6 months after thyroidectomy.

      • 인삼 광폭 해가림 구조 개발에 따른 차광자재 선발

        Background : This experiment was carried out to improve the labor-intensive task to construct of the traditional ginseng shading system in Korea. In this experiment the selected shading materials was new 6 kinds that HDPE - knitted- monofilament and taped PE Net, with taking into account of the amount of light and the amount of leakage to screen the UV stabilized 0.3% - 0.6%. Compared with the traditional shading material, the black-shading material (wt. 200g/㎡) and the yellow shading material (wt. 300g/㎡) was suitable for the ginseng growing environments in Korea. Methods and Results : The installation of shading system was the 45 degree slope -2 meter height from the ground with the selected shading materials for the wide structure ginseng cultivation. Temperature and light intensity was measured with a week interval from the surface to a height of 30cm. The two kinds of the 1st selected materials and the traditional black + blue two layer shading materials, aluminum screen, Canada Gintec shading material, total 5 kinds of materials were installed in wide structure. The growing environmental analysis was measured using data logs (watchdog 1600series). Conclusion : In the first selection of shading materials for Ginseng wide structure, the levels of light intensity were higher in order of blue-shading> Aluminum- shading> black-shading order. The temperatures of the under wide structures were lower in order of the black-shading< aluminum-shading screen< blue-shading order, especially the temperature of the black shading material was lower than the outside temperature. For the second selection of shading material of the ginseng wide structure, the black and yellow shading material were superior to the other materials, in the amount of light shading material and growing conditions and the degree of leakage etc. The temperatures of mid-May in wide structures of ginseng cultivation were higher in order of aluminum-screen> Canada shading materials (Gintec Co.) 2 layer material> Yellow shading> black shading order, and also the amounts of light intensity also was shown to be with the same manner

        Will Middle-Aged Korean Women Buy Jeans Again?

        The purpose of the study was to investigate jean consumption among middle-aged Korean women and the characteristics of consumers as potential jean consumers. The data were collected from the survey of 238 Korean women aged 45 to 64 years old. The respondents prefer outlet store to other retail outlets and wear jeans mainly for travel, grocery shopping, and outing. The main reason for not wearing jeans is body change, which leads to poor fit in abdomen and waist area. The sample was clustered into two groups based on interest in jeans: high-interest and low-interest group. From the examination of group differences, the high-interest group rated conformity/brand reputation, scarcity, and attractiveness of appearance significantly higher compared to the low-interest group among the five clothing benefits pursued. No difference was found in obesity and body satisfaction. Group differences were found in recent purchase, price, number of jeans owned, and frequency of wearing jeans. The results suggest the characteristics of the potential jean market among middle-aged women in Korea. Implications are discussed.

        Background : The objective of this study was to Amomum tsao-ko Crevost et Lemarié, (Zingiberaceae) is widely distributed among several countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is a well known spice in Asia, produces a nice refreshing effect in the mouth. Additionally, it's dried fruit is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for cardiac diseases, edema, eye trouble, skin, itch and impotence. The objective of this study was evaluated the inhibitory activity on adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 cells from A. tsao-ko. Methods and Results : The fruits of A. tsao-ko were extracted with 80% EtOH two times at room temperature. The EtOH extract was suspended in distilled water and partitioned with solvent to give CH2Cl2, EtOAc and n-BuOH. The CH2Cl2 was suspended in n-hexane and partitioned with solvent to give 50%, 70% and 90% MeOH. The purification of each fraction by column chromatography separation and HPLC analysis. Consequently, several constituents were isolated five known compounds. The identification and structural elucidation of compounds were established by using NMR (1D and 2D) and mass spectrometry. Conclusion : These compounds were identified as fluorenone (1), phenanthrene (2), anthracene (3), methyl linolenate (4), 1,2-benzenediol (5). All isolates were tested for their inhibitory activities on adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 cells.

        KAERI Underground Research Tunnel(KURT)

        고준위폐기물 기준처분시스템의 건전성과 처분안전성의 실험적 검증에 필수적 시설인 지하처분연구시설이 한국원자력연구원 부지 내에 건설되었다. 지하처분연구시설의 부지조사 결과에 대해 기술하고, 이 부지에 건설될 지하처분연구시설의 설계, 인허가, 건설 과정과 건설된 시설의 개요에 대해 하였다. 또 지하처분연구시설에서 수행 중인 현장실험에 대해 소개하였다. An underground research tunnel is essential to validate the integrity of a high-level waste disposal system, and the safety of geological disposal. In this study, KAERI underground research tunnel(KURT) was constructed in the site of Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI). The results of the site investigation and the design of underground tunnel were presented. The procedure for the construction permits and the construction of KURT were described briefly. The in-situ experiments being carried out at KURT were also introduced.

        The Impact of National Surveillance for Liver Cancer: Results from Real-World Setting in Korea

        Background/Aims: The National Liver Cancer Surveillance Program (NLCSP) was established in 2003 to reduce the socioeconomic burden imposed by liver cancer (LC). We aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the NLCSP in South Korea with respect to survival benefits and cost, after adjusting for various confounding factors. Methods: We used the National Health Insurance Service claims data linked with the NLCSP from 2004 to 2015. The Cox proportional hazard model and generalized linear model were used to determine the effects of the NLCSP on the early detection of LC, survival, and medical costs. Results: From 2006 to 2010, 66,632 patients (surveillance group: 10,527 and no surveillance group: 56,105) newly diagnosed with LC were included in the study. The odds of the early detection of LC was 1.82 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.73 to 1.93) times higher among patients who participated in the NLCSP once within the 2-year period prior to the diagnosis of LC than among those who did not participate in the surveillance program. The mortality rate of patients who participated in the NLCSP was 22.0% lower (hazard ratio, 0.78; 95% CI, 0.76 to 0.80) than that of those who did not participate. When compared with the group who did not participate in surveillance, the group who participated in the NLCSP had higher total medical costs; however, their cost per day was lower after adjustment during the follow-up period. Conclusions: This study highlights the survival benefit in patients who participated in the NLCSP and the need for continuous improvements of the NLCSP in South Korea.

      • Effects of helium concentration on microcrystalline silicon thin film solar cells deposited by atmospheric-pressure plasma deposition at 13.3 kPa

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>An atmospheric-pressure plasma deposition system was developed and used to deposit intrinsic hydrogenated microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H) thin films for μc-Si:H thin film solar cells. The helium (He) gas concentration in plasma increased Raman crystallinity (X<SUB>c</SUB>) of μc-Si:H, which was a critical parameter to determine photovoltaic performance. In addition, dependence of X<SUB>c</SUB> on the He concentration is shown to be closely related to the atomic hydrogen flux during film growth, which is evidenced by plasma diagnostics derived from in situ optical emission spectroscopy measurements. Those analysis contributed to achieve impressive photovoltaic performance – namely, a power conversion efficiency of 4.60%, an open-circuit voltage of 0.52 V, a short-circuit current density of 13.62 mA/cm<SUP>2</SUP>, and a fill factor of 0.65, which is the first experimental demonstration of μc-Si:H thin film solar cells fabricated with the atmospheric-pressure plasma deposition under very high working-pressure regime at 13.3 kPa.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Atmospheric-pressure CVD system was used for microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H) growth. </LI> <LI> He gas concentration was a critical parameter to determine crystallinity (X<SUB>c</SUB>) of μc-Si:H. </LI> <LI> X<SUB>c</SUB> dependency on the He concentration was closely related to the atomic hydrogen flux. </LI> <LI> We achieved an efficiency of 4.60% for the μc-Si:H cells at high pressure of 13.3 kPa </LI> </UL> </P>
