      • Empirical Study of the Influence of Consumer Relationship Proneness on Customer Loyalty in Service Context

        Consumer relationship proneness (CRP) reflects a consumer’s relatively stable and conscious tendency to engage in relationships. This study takes CRP as an important consumer individual trait and examines the influence of CRP on customer loyalty in service environment from perspective of relational benefits (i.e. confidence benefits, social benefits, special treatment benefits). Concept model is proposed to explain the influence. Then SEM (structural equation modeling) is used to analyze the data collected from online survey to test the proposed model. Empirical results show that CRP has direct influence on customer loyalty. The results also show that CRP indirectly relates to customer loyalty via its impact on perceived confidence benefits and social benefits. This study deepens the understanding about the importance of CRP and provides insights into development and implement of customer relationship management and relationship marketing for service enterprises.

        Identification of BmELP as an interaction partner of Bmtutl-519 in the silkworm, Bombyx mori

        The Turtle protein could act as a signaling receptor or function as a membrane-bound ligand for an unknown receptor. Alternatively, the Turtle protein could function as a co-receptor in a multi-protein receptor complex. Earlier work on the function of Bmtutl-519 suggested that it may act as a cell surface receptor or as a regulatory factor in the infection process of Nosema bombycis. To further investigate the function of Bmtutl-519 in the process of microsporidian infection and the possible regulatory pathways involved, we performed yeast twohybrid screening on a silkworm midgut cDNA library and identified a Bombyx mori extensin-like protein/ BmELP as a binding partner of Bmtutl-519. The interaction between Bmtutl-519 and BmELP was verified by GST pull-down and co-immunoprecipitation assays. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that BmELP was commonly expressed in all of the examined tissues of the silkworm, and the expression was highest in the head. Moreover, BmELP was expressed throughout the entire development period, and the lowest levels of expression were observed at the egg stage. The results of infection experiments showed that N. bombycis infection caused the upregulation of BmELP expression, especially in vitro. Taken together, our findings may provide new insights into the roles of BmELP and Bmtutl-519 in microsporidian infection.

        Predictions of Wake and Central Mixing Region of Double Horizontal Axis Tidal Turbine

        Predicting the velocity distribution of double horizontal axis tidal turbines (DHATTs) is significant for the effective development of tidal streams. This current research gives an account on double turbine wake theory and flow structure of DHATT connected to single support by using the joint axial momentum theory and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. Characteristics of single turbine wake were previously studied with two theoretical equations predicting the initial upstream velocity closer to the turbine, and it’s lateral distributions along the downstream of the turbine. This current works agreed with the previous wake equations, which was used for predicting the velocity region along the downstream of the turbines. Flow field separating the two turbines is complicated in nature due to the indirect disturbance of turbines and no report was found on this central region. The Central region in the downstream flow is initially suppressed due to the blockage effects with a high velocity close to the free stream. Lateral expansion of two turbine wakes penetrated the central region with velocity reduction and followed by the flow recovery further downstream. This work provides more understandings of the wake and its central mixing region for double turbines with a proposed theoretical model.

      • An Improved H.264 Encoded Algorithm Based on Weber-Fechner Law

        With the study of human visual system (HVS), people find that the human eye shows different degree of sensitivity to different light signals. A higher background brightness region of the human eye for the distortion, the degree of sensitivity will be greatly reduced. The human eye’s sensitivity will be greatly reduced to the distortion of a higher brightness background region. This finding is discribed in Weber-Fechner law. Therefore, the encoder can be improved by employing this characteristic of human visual system. In this paper, the authors use this characteristic to improve the H.264 video coding algorithm. In order to improve the compression efficiency of encoder, give the brightness of different regions with different levels of quantification by adjusting the quantization step size (QP), without affecting the subjective quality of video. Experimental results show that the output bit rate decrease up to 10% -20% by using this improved algorithm in H.264 reference encoder, and the subjective quality of decoded image by using this improved algorithm is as good as the standard H.264 encoders.

        Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a thermal ablation technique widely used for the management of benign thyroid nodules. To date, five academic societies in various countries have reported clinical practice guidelines, opinion statements, or recommendations regarding the use of thyroid RFA. However, despite some similarities, there are also differences among the guidelines, and a consensus is required regarding safe and effective treatment in Asian countries. Therefore, a task force was organized by the guideline committee of the Asian Conference on Tumor Ablation with the goal of devising recommendations for the clinical use of thyroid RFA. The recommendations in this article are based on a comprehensive analysis of the current literature and the consensus opinion of the task force members.
