COMPORTAMIENTO POLÍTICO : UN APORTE A LA DISCUSIÓN DESDE UNA PERSPECTIVA TEÓRICA Y METODOLÓGICA

Resumen. Nuestro planteamiento parte de la consideración de que el comportamiento político es “una forma específica de comportamiento social, que está referido a las acciones de los individuos orientadas a incidir en el campo de la política” (Duarte y Jaramillo, 2009, p. 147). Esta conceptualización del comportamiento político como una acción social asume la formulación ya hecha por Max Weber que establece que ésta ocurre cuando los individuos le atribuyen a la misma un significado subjetivo. En consecuencia, el interés del investigador en el objeto de estudio así definido, tiene que ver no solo con lo que hacen los individuos, en este caso en el campo de la política, sino sobre todo con el por qué lo hacen. En estas condiciones, el enfoque positivista-cuantitativo que ha dominado los estudios del comportamiento político desde mediados del siglo pasado y la utilización de las técnicas de investigación cuantitativa resultan claramente insuficientes. Se hace necesario pues recurrir a un paradigma alternativo cuyos principios epistemológicos y la metodología que de él derivan permita aprehender la subjetividad que subyace al comportamiento político para lograr un conocimiento más profundo. Este es el paradigma pospositivista que rescata para la investigación social la tradición interpretativa del historicismo y la filosofía alemanas de los siglos XVIII y XIX y que tiene en Max Weber a uno de sus más destacados exponentes. Abstract. Our approach begins with the consideration that political behavior refers to “a specific form of social behavior, and of those actions made by individuals aimed to influence in a political sphere” (Duarte and Jaramillo, 2009, p.147). This concept of political behavior, as social action, takes into considerations the notions formulated by Max Weber that indicates that this occurs when individuals ascribe a subjective significance to it. Therefore, our defined interest deals with not only what actions individuals take, but also with the reasons for doing it, within a political scheme. Under these circumstances, it is evident that the quantitative positivist approach that has dominated political behavior studies, since the last half of the 20th century, as well as the use of quantitative investigation techniques is clearly insufficient. It becomes necessary then to resort to an alternative paradigm with epistemological principles and the methodology necessary that allows us to grasp the subjectivity that lies behind political behavior in order to obtain an in depth knowledge. This post-positivist paradigm rescues the historicism traditional interpretation of social investigation and German philosophy form the 18th and 19th centuries, highlighted by the theories of Max Weber. Efficient Data Management for Hull Condition Assessment

Performing inspections for Hull Condition Monitoring and Assessment as stipulated in IACS unified requirements and IMO's Condition Assessment Scheme (CAS) IMO Resolution MEPC.94(46), 2001, Condition Assessment Scheme, IMO Resolution MEPC.111(50), 2003, Amendments to regulation 13G, addition of new regulation 13H involves a huge amount of measurement data to be collected, processed, analysed and maintained. Information to be recorded consists of thickness measurements and visual assessment of coating and cracks. The amount of data and increasing requirements with respect to condition assessment demand efficient computer support. Currently, due to the lack of standardization for this kind of data, the thickness measurements are recorded manually on ship drawings or tables. In this form, handling of the measurements is tedious and error-prone and assessment is difficult. Data reporting and analysis takes a long time, leading to some repairs being performed only at the next docking of the ship or making an additional docking necessary. The recently started ED funded project CAS addresses this topic and develops-as a first step-a data model for Hull Condition Monitoring and Assessment (HCMA) based on XML-technology. The model includes simple geometry representation to facilitate a graphically supported data collection as well as an easy visualisation of the measurement results. In order to ensure compatibility with the current way of working, the content of the data model is strictly confined to the requirements of the measurement process. Appropriate data interfaces to classification software will enable rapid assessment by the classification societies, thus improving the process in terms of time and cost savings. In particular, decision-making can be done while the ship is still in the dock for maintenance.
Fixtureless Inspection of Deformable Parts Using Partial Captures

A general scheme to validate the shape of a deformable part consists in performing a non-rigid alignment between measurements on the part’s surface with its CAD model. In many algorithms, this process requires the acquisition of a complete model of the inspected part, including regions near its fixation points. This paper proposes a system to perform inspection without the need to digitize the entire part’s surface or regions near fixation points. This algorithm uses instead of standard fixation points, surface feature points to compute the non-rigid transformation. Various tests on real parts show that a reduction of up to 58% of the RMS deviation in less than 3 iterations can be obtained using a single view of the part’s surface.
Improvement of Mechanical Properties of Pineapple Leaf Fibers by Mercerization Process

Pineapple leaf fibers (PALF) were modified by the mercerization process to improve their mechanical properties for applications in composites. The changes in the morphology and mechanical properties of fibers were evaluated after using different conditions (temperature and sodium hydroxide concentration) for the mercerization process. The study was done using X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Mercerization treatments caused a reduction in the diameter of fibers, either due removal of surface impurities, disintegration of middle lamella and/or interfibrillar swelling. Mechanical properties of mercerized fibers were modified. The highest tensile strength was observed when mercerization was done at a temperature of 60 oC and alkali concentration of 3 % wt.

Ditaxis heterantha seeds are used as spices for flavoring and coloring food. Two new apocarotenoids derived from the seeds, heteranthin and ditaxin, were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxic effects in murine lymphoma cells lines. Bioabsorption in mice and preventive and antitumor effects of the apocarotenoids were determined. Ditaxin and heteranthin showed cytotoxic effects in vitro against murine malignant cells and normal splenocyte cells. The 50% inhibitory concentration (IC_50) for ditaxin in splenocytes was 0.1825 mM; in L5178Y, the IC_50 was 0.1923 mM. The heteranthin IC_50 in splenocytes was 0.1325 mM; in L5178Y, the value was 0.3889 mM. The maximum ditaxin plasma concentration was found after 2 hours of administration (mean±standard deviation, 7.5±2.05 μg/mL). Oral administration of the D. heterantha extract (100 mg/kg per day) for 14 days after the L5178Y lymphoma cell implantation showed no significant effect compared with groups that were not pretreated. However, tumor inhibition in groups treated intraperitoneally before inoculation with the L5178Y cells showed a significant difference (P<.001) compared with the groups not pretreated.
