        2010 해남, 평창, 원주지역 갈대 등 야초류의 이용실태와 사료가치 평가

        본 연구는 부존 조사료자원 이용으로 수입사료를 줄이고 사료비를 절감하고자 2010년도에 전남 해남(간척지), 강원 평창(강변), 원주(섬강변), 전남 영광(와탄강변) 등 4개 지역에서 갈대와 억새 등 야초 자생지를 탐색하고, 수확·이용실태 조사와 함께 사료가치를 분석하였다. 전남 해남 해남목장 내 갈대(Phragmites communis) 위주의 야초 자생지는 300 ha로 예년에는 2회 곤포작업하여 연간 사일리지로 2,300~2,500톤(ha당 8톤)을 생산하였으나 2010년도는 1회 곤포조제로 사일리지 2,000톤(ha당 7톤)을 생산하였다. 유통가격은 롤 당 53천원으로 ㎏당 110원이었다. 곤포는 전량 자가소비하며, 외부 작업단에 롤 당 26천원의 작업비를 지불하였다. 연간 조수입은 2억 2,260만원이며, 소득은 1억원 수준(345천원/ha)이었다. 초장 150 ㎝의 갈대는 조단백질 8.4%, 상대사료가치 71.9 (건초 5등급), 건물 소화율 60.1%로 사료가치는 볏짚에 비해 약간 나은 것으로 평가되었다. 갈대 사일리지의 사료가치와 유기산 함량은 동일 지역에서 동일한 재료로 사일리지를 조제하더라도 수확시기에 따라 차이가 컸으며(CP 4.7~6.4%, RFV 62.2~78.9, 건물 소화율 41.9~53.9%), 갈대 사일리지의 품질은 수단그라스에 비해 불량하였다. 강원 평창 강변 자생갈대의 사료가치는 초장이 79, 117, 121, 142㎝로 생육이 진행됨에 따라 낮아져, 조단백질은 각각 13.9%에서 7.6%로, 상대사료가치는 90.7 (건초 3등급)에서 76.1 (건초 4등급)로, 건물 소화율은 72.9%에서 54.7%로 감소하였다. 원주 섬강 주변 야초류는 곤포수확 작업에 어려움이 있었으며, 초장 130 cm의 갈대는 조단백질 8.5%, 상대사료가치 82.3 (건초 4등급), 건물 소화율 70.2%로 사료가치는 높았으며, 220㎝의 성숙한 갈대는 조단백질 10.2%, 상대사료가치 65.1 (건초 5등급), 건물 소화율 48.9%로 볏짚 대비 조금 나은 것으로 평가되었다. 전남영광지역에서는 와탄천 주변에 자생하는 갈대를 수거 이용하고자 시도하였으나 경제성이 없어 중단하였다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여볼 때, 갈대, 억새 등 야초류는 현 상태에서 최대한 수거·이용하되, 사료가치를 유지하고 가축 기호성이 양호한 시기에 수확하는 것이 중요하며, 최소한 볏짚과 비슷하거나 그 이상의 사료가치를 기대하기 위해서는 7월 중순 이전(늦어도 7월까지)에 수확·이용하는 것이 권장된다. This study was carried out in 2010 to investigate the utilization and forage quality of native grasses, such as Phragmites communis which might reduce the cost of feeding domestic cattle. The regions surveyed were the Haenam ranch in Haenam, Pyeongchang, Wonju, and Yeonggwang. In Haenam, yearly silage production harvested from 300 ha was 2,000 MT (7 MT/ha). All of those round bale silages were self-consumed in that region, and marketing price was 50,000 55,000 won per roll (110 won/㎏). Phragmites communis of 150 ㎝ in length contained 8.4% crude protein (CP) with relative feed value (RFV) 71.9 and 60.1% in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD), which was somewhat more favorable than forage quality of rice straw. The silage quality of Phragmites communis varied greatly by the time of harvest (CP 4.7 6.4%, RFV 62.2 78.9, and IVDMD 41.9 53.9%), even with the same district and of the same original forage materials. Generally, the quality of Phragmites communis silage of was poorer than that of sorghum * sudangrass hybrid. In Pyeongchang, forage quality of Phragmites communis was decreased from 13.9% to 7.6% in CP, 90.7 to 76.1 in RFV, and 72.9% to 54.7% in IVDMD, as plant was getting mature, from 79 ㎝ to 117 ㎝, 121 ㎝ or to 142 ㎝ in length. In Wonju, the quality values of Phragmites communis of 130 ㎝ in length were 8.5% CP, 82.3 RFV and 70.2% IVDMD, while those of matured grasses of 220 ㎝ in length were lower (10.2% CP, 65.1 RFV and 48.9% IVDMD), but this was a little more favorable than quality of rice straw. In Yeonggwang, feeding Phragmites communis was tried in a Hanwoo feed, but stopped due to low profitability. In conclusion, the overall quality of most native grasses including Phragmites communis in this survey was poor. Therefore, we recommend that Phragmites communis and native grasses should be harvested on June or July to obtain richer forage quality in forage values than rice straw.

      • 초등 예비교사 교육실습 중 체육수업 지도 내실화 방안

        본 연구는 초등 예비교사 교육실습 중 체육수업 지도와 관련하여 교육실습 과정에서 나타난 문제점을 도출하고 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 체육수업 지도 내실화 방안을 제시하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 G교육대학교 3학년 학생들 중 본 연구자가 강의하고 있는 3개 학과 80명 학생들을 대상으로 개방형 설문지를 통해 기초 자료를 수집하였다. 이후 본 연구의 목적을 이해하고 동의를 한 7명의 학생들을 연구참여자로 선정한 후 심층면담을 실시하여 자료를 수집하고 귀납적 범주분석을 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과에서 교육실습 중 체육수업 지도와 관련하여 도출된 문제점은 체육수업 지도 기회 부족, 지도교사의 전문성 부족, 참관을 통한 체육수업 지도, 교육이론 적용의 어려움, 지도조언의 부족, 체육 시설 및 용 기구의 부족, 교육실습생에 대한 배려 부족이었다. 도출된 문제점을 해결하기 위해 대학교 차원, 실습학교 차원, 교육(실습) 정책 차원으로 구분하여 내실화 방안을 제시하였다. 초등예비교사교육은 초등교육의 성패를 좌우할 중요한 과정이며, 교육실습은 대학 강의를 통해 학습한 교육이론을 초등학생들을 대상으로 실제 적용해 봄으로써 보다 온전한 교사교육을 완성시킬 수 있는 중요한 교육 활동이다. 또한 교육실습은 체육수업에 관한 실제적 지식을 함양할 수 있는 기회를 제공함과 동시에 미래 초등 체육교육의 모습을 가늠할 척도의 역할을 할 수도 있다. 따라서 교육실습을 통해 초등 예비교사들에게 체육수업 지도에 관한 체계적이고 가치 있는 교육을 제공해 주어야 할 것이다. The purpose of this study is to present problems revealed in the process of practice teaching for elementary school preservice teachers regarding teaching in Physical Education (PE) class and suggest measures for substantializing teaching in PE class to solve the problems. To address the goal, basic data were collected by carrying out a survey to 80 students of three majors that this researcher was teaching among the juniors of G University of Education with an open-ended questionnaire. Later, seven students understanding the purpose of this study and agreeing to participate were selected as study participants, and then, data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed by inductive category analysis. According to the results, problems found in practice teaching regarding teaching in PE class are lack of opportunity for teaching in PE class, the guidance teacher’s lack of expertise, teaching in PE class just for showing, difficulty in applying theories of education, lack of advice for teaching, shortage of sport facilities or equipment/tools, and lack of consideration over the students engaged in practice teaching. To solve the problems found, this author suggests measures for substantialization classifying them into the perspectives of universities, schools providing the service of practice teaching, and educational (practice) policy. Training elementary school preservice teachers is a crucial process that can determine the success or failure of elementary education, and practice teaching is an important activity of education to apply theories of education learned through university lectures actually to elementary school students and complete teacher education more holistically. Also, practice teaching provides opportunity to accumulate practical knowledge about PE class and also can play roles as an axis to anticipate the aspects of elementary physical education in the future at the same time. Therefore, practice teaching will have to provide systematic, precious, and fruitful education about teaching in PE class for elementary school preservice teachers.

      • Al(In)N/GaN Fin-Type HEMT With Very-Low Leakage Current and Enhanced <tex> $I$</tex>– <tex> $V$</tex> Characteristic for Switching Applications

        <P>Superior device characteristics have been demonstrated with a novel Al(In)N/GaN-based steep fin-type high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) with a fin width (W-fin) of 120 nm, a fin height (H-fin) of 250 nm, and a gate length (L-G) of 200 nm. The proposed device achieved very low drain leakage (I-off) <8x10(-8) A/mm at 7 V and <1x10(-6) A/mm at 100 V, which is four orders of improvement over I-OFF of conventional Al(In)N/GaN HEMTs. In addition, the device exhibits a high ON-state current (I-ON) of 1.12 A/mm, a steep sub-threshold swing (S) of 63 mV/decade, a low drain-induced barrier lowering of 18.5 mV/V, and a high power-gain cutoff frequency (f(T)) of 21 GHz.</P>

      • A non-human primate model for stable chronic Parkinson’s disease induced by MPTP administration based on individual behavioral quantification

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Background</B></P> <P>The guidelines for applying individual adjustments to macaques according to the severity of behavioral symptoms during 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) treatment were provided to reproduce stable chronic Parkinsonism in a recent study (Potts et al., 2014). But, since there are insufficient guidelines regarding objective severity criteria of individual symptoms for adjustments of MPTP treatment, it is difficult to develop MPTP-induced chronic non-human primate (NHP) models with stable symptoms.</P> <P><B>New method</B></P> <P>The individual adjustments of MPTP administration based on results of automatic quantification of global activity (GA) using a video-based tracking system were applied to develop MPTP-PD model. Low-dose (0.2 mg/kg) intramuscular injection was repeated continuously until GA was lower than 8% of baseline Parkinsonian behavior scores. The positron emission tomography imaging were used to follow the longitudinal course of Parkinson’s disease (PD).</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>Significant reductions in GA and dopamine transporter activity, along with significant increases in Parkinsonian behavior scores were found from 4 to 48 weeks following the first administration. GA was correlated with the Parkinsonian behavior score. The dopamine transporter activity was correlated with GA and the Parkinsonian behavior score. However, it was not correlated with the total dose of MPTP. Damage of dopaminergic neuronal systems in the basal ganglia was confirmed by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.</P> <P><B>Comparison with existing method</B></P> <P>This study reinforces previous guidelines regarding production of NHP models with stable Parkinsonian symptoms.</P> <P><B>Conclusions</B></P> <P>This novel strategy of MPTP administration based on global activity evaluations provides an important conceptual advance for the development of chronic NHP Parkinsonian models.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We provide a conceptual advance of the method to produce stable Parkinsonian models. </LI> <LI> Individual MPTP dose adjustments according to the severity of symptoms are needed. </LI> <LI> Global activity using a video tracking system is useful in evaluating Parkinsonism. </LI> <LI> Global activity provides an objective and accurate evaluation of symptom severity. </LI> <LI> Global activity provides the objective criteria for adjustments of MPTP treatment. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Magnesium Metabolism

        Magnesium is the second most common intracellular divalent cation. Magnesium balance in the body is controlled by a dynamic interplay among intestinal absorption, exchange with bone, and renal excretion. Intestinal magnesium absorption proceeds in both a passive paracellular and an active transcellular manner. Regulation of serum magnesium concentrations is achieved mainly by control of renal magnesium reabsorption. Only 20% of filtered magnesium is reabsorbed in the proximal tubule, whereas 60% is reclaimed in the cortical thick ascending limb (TAL) and another 5-10% in the distal convoluted tubule (DCT). The passive paracellular transport of magnesium in the TAL is closely related with the mutations in claudin-16/paracellin-1 and is responsible for familial hypomagnesemia with hypercalciuria and nephrocalcinosis. The active transcellular transport of magnesium in the DCT was similarly enhanced by the realization that defects in transient receptor potential melastatin 6 (TRPM6) cause hypomagnesemia with secondary hypocalcemia. This channel regulates the apical entry of magnesium into epithelia and alters whole-body magnesium homeostasis by controlling urinary excretion. TRPM6 is regulated at the transcriptional level by acid-base status, 17β-estradiol, and both FK506 and cyclosporine. The molecular identity of the protein responsible for the basolateral exit of magnesium from the epithelial cell remains unidentified.

        Tailoring the Excited-State Intramolecular Proton Transfer (ESIPT) Fluorescence of 2-(2'-Hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole Derivatives

        The excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) fluorescence in the 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole (HBO) derivatives with different electron donor and acceptor substituents was studied by spectroscopic and theoretical methods. Changes in the electronic transition, energy levels, and orbital diagrams of HBO analogues were investigated by the semi-empirical molecular orbital calculation and were correlated with the experimental spectral position of ESIPT keto emission. It was found that the presence of substituents, regardless of their nature, resulted in the red-shifted absorption relative to HBO. However, the spectral change of the ESIPT fluorescence was differently affected by the nature of substituent: hypsochromic shift with electron donor and bathochromic shift with electron acceptor.

        Evaluation of Genetic Diversity among Korean Wheat Using RAPD and ISSR Analysis

        The genetic diversity was evaluated using RAPD and ISSR among natural populations and Korean wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum). Understanding the genetic diversity of putative parental and wild stocks would be useful in wheat breeding programs. Ninety three populations were evaluated with fifty RAPD and three ISSR primers. A total of 185 RAPD and ISSR polymorphism were produced. These markers were considered to estimate the genetic distance among accessions. The genetic similarity ranged from 0.41 to 0.86. The dendrogram were constructed by using the UPGMA clustering algorithm based on genetic similarity. The genetic diversity within and among accession was assessed through Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for statistics analysis. In cluster analysis, four groups were clustered and 17 accessions were not clustered. The PCA was corresponded well to the result. This study provides basic information about the genetic relationships for breeding purposes.

      • High-dose stereotactic body radiotherapy correlates increased local control and overall survival in patients with inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma

        <P><B>Background</B></P><P>Recent studies using stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have reported high tumor response and local control. However, the optimal SBRT dose remains unknown, and it is still not clear whether a dose response relationship for local control (LC) and overall survival (OS) exist or not. We performed this study to determine whether a dose response relationship for LC and OS is observed in SBRT for inoperable HCC.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Between 2003 and 2011, 108 patients with HCC were treated with SBRT. All patients were unsuitable for surgery or local ablation and had incomplete response to transarterial chemoembolization. Eighty-two patients with a longest tumor diameter (LD) less than or equal to 7.0 cm who were treated with 3-fraction SBRT and were analyzed. This cohort comprised 74 Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) class A patients and 8 CTP class B7 patients. The median LD was 3.0 cm (range, 1.0–7.0 cm), and the median dose was 51 Gy (range, 33–60 Gy).</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>LC and OS rates at 2 years after SBRT were 87% and 63%, respectively, with a median follow-up duration of 30 months for all patients. The 2-year LC/OS rates for patients treated with doses of > 54, 45–54, and < 45 Gy were 100/71, 78/64, and 64%/30%, respectively (p = .009/p < .001). Multivariate analysis revealed that the SBRT dose (p = .005) and Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage (p = .015) were significant prognostic factors for OS. Correlation analysis revealed a positive linear relationship between the SBRT dose and LC (p = .006, R = .899)/OS (p = .002, R = .940) at 2 years. Based on the tumor-control probability model, a dose of 54.8 Gy provides 2-year LC with a 90% probability. Five patients experienced grade 3 or higher gastrointestinal toxicity, and 6 had deteriorating of CTP score by greater than or equal to 2 within 3 months of SBRT.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>This study demonstrated a dose response relationship for LC and OS with SBRT for HCC. Higher LC rates resulting from an increased dose may translate into survival benefits for patients with HCC.</P>

        Assembly of individual TiO<sub>2</sub>–C<sub>60</sub><i>/</i>porphyrin hybrid nanoparticles for enhancement of photoconversion efficiency

        <P>Rational organization of porphyrin and C<SUB>60</SUB> on the electrode surface in photovoltaic structures is essential to yield high quantum efficiency. In the present work, individual TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles were modified by introducing C<SUB>60</SUB> and porphyrin units on the surface, and then electrophoretically deposited on an ITO<I>/</I>SnO<SUB>2</SUB> electrode. The morphology of the photoactive layer on the electrode was significantly different from that of the layer produced as a result of separate deposition of C<SUB>60</SUB> and porphyrin. The maximum incident photon to current efficiency of the resulting electrode approached 88% at 410 nm, which is the highest value among molecule-based photovoltaic cells reported to date. This indicates that molecular assembly of the C<SUB>60</SUB> and porphyrin units on the individual nanoparticles through strong chemical attachment is a key factor in improving effective electron transfer between the photoactive units and the electrodes. </P>
