Nowadays vehicle safety regulation are strengthened over the world. Owing to the research and development against vehicle collision safety, the passenger death which is caused by traffic accident is gradually decreasing. In this paper, an approach for the development of the brake pedal system to prevent the ankle injury was presented. The simulations for statics and dynamics have been carried out to predict the performance of the proposed concept design system. A test in assemble model was performed and evaluated its function. Finally a crash test in full car has been conducted and validated for the performance.

Many small dams have recently been constructed on several major rivers in the Republic of Korea to utilize these waterresources and control water flows. One such water body is the Gangjeong reservoir in the Nakdong River; a rising sector gatewas mounted on this reservoir. The finite element analysis (FEA) confirmed the empirical design of the gate to be safe withminor modifications. However, the positions of the horizontal girders are critical in the design of a gate, and it is must bedetermined by a trial-and-error process. To find the optimal solution for the positions and thicknesses of horizontal girders ina rising sector gate, this paper proposed a new procedure using the commercial optimization package, PIAnO, as well as Pro-Engineer, Hypermesh, and Abaqus. The optimal positions of the horizontal girders are selected from 9 predefined positions. A special technique was developed and applied to change the discrete position set, such as (1, 4, 8) to a continuousdimensionless variable. For this, a FORTRAN program was written to convert the dimensionless variable to a set of positionnumbers, and vice versa.

The vehicle safety has been mainly focused on passengers up until now but we have further technical consideration which also provides pedestrian safety. In Europe, UNECE/WP29 established the GTR that scheduled to come into effect in February, 2013 and Korean pedestrian In this pedestrian protection research, we will be tendering a design guidance on the least progressed upper leg protection method that will be validated by detailed analysis and tests. We will also be developing a proper test method followed by condensed product lead time and cost reduction
