Food allergy is defined as an immunologically-mediated adverse reaction to food. The food allergy as a clinical entity has been recognized for many years, although there is yet no general consensus as to the incidence of this syndrome. One difficulty in studying food allergies has been the lack of a reasonable animal model in which reactions could be induced by orally administrating foods. It has been generally accepted that the initial target for an immediate reaction to food is the mast cells, within the gastrointestinal mucosa, and such mast cells are sensitize in vivo by food -specific immunoglobulin(Ig) E. Degranulation of these cells facilitates the entry of an antigenic epitope into the lymphatic system and blood stream, thereby causing further degranulation of the mast cells and basophils throughout the body. Accordingly, the author attempted to develop an animal model that is indicative of evaluating IgE-mediated immediate hypersensitivity. It is also necessary to evaluate the effects of nutritional environments on dietary protein-dependent allergy and the regulatory mechanisms of dietary fats on IgE-mediated immune response. In this review, animal models to evaluate a food ingredient, effects of dietary fats and curcuminoids, milk whey protein hydrolysates on allergic reaction, and effect of dietary fat in splenic immune cells are presented.

Recently, the isolation rate of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) in clinical laboratories and the incidence of NTM infections are on the increase in Korea, but there have been only a few studies that reveal the general aspect of NTM isolation or species distribution. Therefore, this study was performed to examine the species identification by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis (PRA, PCR-RFLP), and the clinical significance of mycobacterial cultures. PRA was used during the novel region of the rpoB gene and was developed for rapid and precise identification of mycobacteria to the species level. From January 2012 to April 2012, we examined pre-identified nontuberculous mycobacteria (60 species in 3 hospital of Busan-Kyeongnam area). We confirmed 4 (6.6%) Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and 56 (93.4%) NTM from 60 pre-identified NTM species by multiplex PCR (MolecuTech MTB-IDR V3, YD Diagnostics, Korea) and PRA (Myco-ID, YD Diagnostics, Korea). The distribution of 56 NTM species were M. intracellulare type I 15 (26.7%), M. avium 14 (25%), M. abscessus 11 (19.5%), M. kansasii type I 3 (5.4%), M. pulveris 2 (3.6%), M. intracellulare type, M. chelonae, M. kansasii type V, M. gallinarum, M. wolinskyi. Respectively, 1 (1.8%) and 6 (10.7%) species were not identified.

In this paper, we propose multiparty key agreement protocols by generalizing the Blom's scheme based on 2 variable polynomials. Especially we develop three party and four party key agreement schemes with security. The advantage of the new schemes is to have small demands on storage space.
영어동화를 활용한 수업이 초등영어 학습스타일에 미치는 효과

This paper attempts to suggest a working model of story-based teaching that is integrated into the real classroom activities effectively. Following the 7th National Curriculum, both high and low level activities were developed for this study. In this paper, story texts were selected within the scope of 5th grade English curriculum and an English teaching model through stories was developed as a one-hour lesson in each unit. The effects on the learning achievement and affective area were examined. In addition, the tendency of learning style and the relationship between English proficiency and learning style are studied. The result of this study can be summarized as follows: First, although the post test didn"t show a statistically significant difference in communicative ability, the experimental group were much higher in their mean score than the control group. It seems that one period lesson is not enough, and, accordingly, there was little progress in learning achievement. Second, the experimental group had some positive effects on students" learning interest and learning participation. Self-esteem especially reinforced their learning interest. The results of this study support that story based teaching can improve English learning interest. Third, as time went on, the experimental group showed more affirmative response to the English story. It represented that children became more attracted to English story and were integrated with learning naturally. Fourth, there appeared major learning styles within learning style groups. Fifth, the major learning styles of learning achievement were differentiated. It represents there is intimate relation between learning achievement and affirmative area.

Purpose: This study was done to identify predictive factors influencing suicide probability in Korean adolescents. Methods: Participants in the study were 575 adolescents from 17 schools with quota sampling by each region in D city. The data were collected from October to November, 2010 using self-report questionnaires about interpersonal relationships and suicide probability (SPS) and analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA with Scheffe of Post Hoc, Pearson`s correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 16.0 program. Results: Suicide probability showed a significantly negative correlation for interpersonal relations with parents, friends and teachers. Interpersonal relationship with parents (p<.001) explained 32% of suicide probability, compared to relationships with peers or teachers, which together was accounted for 46% of the variance. Conclusion: The findings suggest that interpersonal relationships with parents should be considered when adolescents suffer from suicidal thinking. Various effective strategies to improve relationships with parents are important to reduce suicide in adolescents.

Freesia is one of the most popular flowers over the world including Korea, due to the fragrance and beauty of the plant flower. The first domestic freesia cultivar ‘Shiny Gold’ was developed by NIHHS, RDA, in 2003, which has yellow double and large petals and strong fragrance. Ten years have passed since ‘Shiny Gold’ was cultivated at floral farms, and the deterioration of cut flower quality and yield are reported from the farms. Virus infection causes a reduction in the quantity and quality of the cut freesia flowers and is one of the most serious problems in Korea. Virus detection was carried by reverse transcription polymer chain reaction (RT-PCR) for FreMV, FreSV, BYMV, CMV, and TRV, as known to infect freesia. FreMV, FreSV, BYMV, and TRV were detected single or multiply, and CMV was not found in the freesia leaves collected from the farms. To produce virus-free freesia, meristem culture of ‘Shiny Gold’ was conducted in MS medium added ribavirin at different concentration. As the increased of ribavirin concentration, the growth of ‘Shiny Gold’ plantlets was inhibited in freesia’Shiny Gold’. The plantlets produced by meristem culture in ‘Shiny Gold’ were virus free at the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) level.

Strawberry (Fragaria ${\times}$ ananassa) is a globally-cultivated and popular fruit crop, prized for its flavor and nutritional value. Sweetness, a key determinant of fruit quality, depends on the sugar composition and concentration. We selected eight strawberry cultivars based on the fruit soluble solids content to represent high and low sugar content groups. The average soluble solid content was $13.6^{\circ}Brix$ (Okmae, Geumsil, Aram, and Maehyang) and $2.9^{\circ}Brix$ (Missionary, Camino Real, Portola, and Gilgyung53), for the high and low sugar content groups, respectively. Sucrose was the main sugar in the cultivars with high sugar content, whereas fructose was the main component in the low sugar content cultivars. Fruit starch concentration ranged from $3.247{\pm}0.056$ to $3.850{\pm}0.055g/100g$, with a 12% higher concentration in the high sugar content cultivars. Additionally, we identified 41 sugar metabolism-related genes in Fragaria ${\times}$ ananassa and analyzed the relationship between their transcripts and the sugar accumulation in fruit. FaGPT1, FaTMT1, FaHXK1, FaPHS1, FaINVA-3, and FacxINV2-1 were highly expressed in the high sugar content cultivars, while FapGlcT, FaTMT2-1, FaPHS2-1, FaSUSY1-1, and FaSUSY1-2 were highly expressed in the low sugar content cultivars. In general, a greater number of genes encoding sugar transporters or involved in sugar synthesis were highly expressed in the high sugar content cultivars. Contrarily, genes involved in sugar degradation were preferentially transcribed in the low sugar content cultivars. Although gene expression was not perfectly proportional to sugar content or concentration, our analysis of the genes involved in sugar metabolism and accumulation in strawberries provides a framework for further studies and for the subsequent engineering of sugar metabolism to enhance fruit quality.

The effect of a-tocopherol on the formation and accumulation of phospholipid hydroperoxides, especially of phosphatidylcholine hydroperoxides, in the tissues of 2, 2 -azobis Hydrochloride (AAPH) - dosed rats was investigated. In a-tocopherol supplemented rats, the activities of glutathione peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase were significantly inhibited, compared with the AAPH group. AAPH treatment led to oxidation of phospholipids in the liver, lungs, brain, plasma and red blood cells (RBC), resulting in a notable increase in phosphatidylcholine hydroperoxide (PCOOH). All tissues of the rats given an $\alpha$-tocopherol supplement showed an attenuation of the stimulating effect of AAPH, leading to low levels of formation of PCOOH. Also, the rats injected with AAPH and a-tocopherol showed relatively normal-appearing hepatocytes, except for a little loss of the granules. With regards to the morphological appearance of the liver, it was observed that oral intakes of a -tocopherol resulted in an antioxidant defense against attacks of peroxyl radicals. Thus, we suggest that a-tocopherol is potentially helpful in protecting membrane phospholipids against oxidative damage in vivo.
