<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The aphid tribe Macrosiphini Wilson, 1910 (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Aphidinae) is one of the most controversial groups within Aphididae. We sequenced 2876 bp from one nuclear gene (EF-1α) and four mitochondrial genes (COI, tRNA + COII, 16S) from 107 terminal taxa representing 57 genera of Macrosiphini <I>s</I>.<I>l</I>. (the former Macrosiphini + genera in former Pterocommatini), including all of the recognized major genera and outgroups, and reconstructed the phylogeny using maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony and Bayesian methods. The stepping-stone method was used to evaluate various topological hypotheses regarding Macrosiphini <I>s</I>.<I>l</I>. and related groups. Our findings support both the monophyly of Macrosiphini <I>s</I>.<I>l</I>., and of two subordinate groups (Macrosiphini <I>s</I>.<I>str</I> and the <I>Pterocomma</I>-group), as well as the transfer of <I>Capitophorus</I>, <I>Pleotrichophorus</I>, <I>Liosomaphis</I> and <I>Vesiculaphi</I>s to the <I>Pterocomma</I>-group—a result not previously suggested by analyses of molecular data. Ancestral state reconstructions for Macrosiphini and the <I>Pterocomma</I>-group suggest an ancestral primary host association with Rosales and Malpighiales, respectively, and other host associations within the tribe. Host transitions independently occurred more than once in Macrosiphini <I>s</I>.<I>str</I>. Furthermore, host-shifts between Rosales and Malpighiales may have occurred at least once in the <I>Pterocomma</I>-group. Additionally, the Macrosiphini phylogeny indicates that host associations are consistent also with host ecology, with a partitioning of aphid-host relationships into riparian and periaquatic habitats versus drier forest/shrubland habitats.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Macrosiphini phylogeny is newly inferred with an expanded, novel taxon sample. </LI> <LI> Host associations drive the coevolution of Macrosiphini and <I>Pterocomma</I>-group aphids. </LI> <LI> Macrosiphini phylogeny is broadly consistent with host ecological associations. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
Recent Invasion of two North American aphids into Korea: Illinoia spp. (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

The genus Illinoia is originally distributing in North America, few species found in other continents as exotics with the introduction of their hosts as ornamental plants and weeds. Recently, we confirmed two Illinoia species in Korea as the first record of this genus in the Eastern Part of Palaearctic: Illinoia goldamaryae (Knowlton 1938) on Erigeron sp. (Asteraceae) and I. liriodendri (Monell 1879) on Liriodendron tulipifera (Magnoliaceae). Two exotic aphids are illustrated, diagnosed, and discussed for their host plants, distribution, etc.
Two new records of the genus Cryptaphis Hille Ris Lambers (Hemiptera: Aphididae) from Korea

The genus Cryptaphis Hille Ris Lambers 1947 is described for the first time in Korea with new records of two species, Cryptaphis geranicola (Shinji 1935) and Cryptaphis menthae Takahashi 1961. Cryptaphis geranicola was collected from Geranium thunbergii (Lamiaceae) and C. menthae was collected from Isodon inflexus (Lamiaceae). Important characteristics are re-described, illustrated, and measured in apterous and alate viviparous females.

A total of six species in the subgenus Uroleucon (Uromelan) is revised from the Korean Peninsula. Uroleucon adenophora (Matsumura, 1918) is recognized for the first time in Korea, collected on the young upper stem of Adenophora sp. (Campanulaceae). It is described, illustrated, and measured for apterous viviparous females.
Taxonomic Study of the Genera Capitophorus and Hyperomyzus (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in Korea

In the tribe Macrosiphini (Hemiptera: Aphididae), we discovered two new records in Korea, Capitophorus formosartemisae (Takahashi, 1921) and Hyperomyzus lactucae (Linnaeus, 1758) collected on Artemisia princeps and Sonchus oleraceus, respectively. They are illustrated and described, based on the macerated slide specimens of the apterous viviparous females.
New Species of the Genus Schoutedenia (Hemiptera:Greenideinae) from Cambodia

A genus Schoutedenia (Hemiptera: Greenideinae) is an ancient group of Gondwanaian distribution occurring on the plant family Euphorbiaceae. In this study, we newly report Schoutedenia sp. nov., collected from Phyllanthus sp. (Euphorbiaceae) from Cambodia. Review for three species including Schoutedenia sp. nov., with identification key are presented.

Macrosiphini is the most largest group in aphids, comprising near half of the described aphid species. The existence of Macrosiphini could be related to host alternation and various life cycle. Since the phylogenetic relationship of the tribe Macrosiphini has been still controversial, we analyzed Bayesian phylogeny (BP) and Maximum-likelihood (ML) based on molecular data (cytochrome oxidase I, tRNA-leucine+cytochrome oxidase II, 16S ribosomal RNA and elongation factor-1 alpha gene), and compared with the Shaposhnikov (1998) 's subtribal division: Macrosiphina, Myzian, Anuraphidina and Liosomatinae. Analyses for host range association with the morphological characters (e.g. Siphunculus and antennal tubercle on head) correspond to the tendency of host range radiation in the tribe Macrosiphini.
Phylogenetic Relationship of the Genus Uroleucon (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

Uroleucon is one of the large aphid genera including some important pest on agricultural crops, mostly feeding on Asteraceae, few species on Campanulaceae. In this study, we suggest the phylogenetic position of Uroleucon in the tribe Macrosiphini, and subgeneric relationship of the main three subgenera using mitochondrial and nuclear genes: tRNA-leucine+cytochrome oxidaseⅡ(tRNA+COII) and Elongation factor-1 alpha gene (EF1α)). With the results of comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study by Bayesian phylogeny (BP) and Maximum-likelihood (ML) using combined data sets of two molecular markers, we reconstruct subgeneric relationship with the data of host plants and morphological characters.

A total of twenty species of Korean <I>Uroleucon</I> are confirmed including two new species: <I>U</I>. (<I>Uromelan</I>) <I>chrysanthemicola</I> sp. <B>nov.</B>, on <I>Chrysanthemum</I> sp. (Asteraceae) from Mt. Oseo, Korea and <I>U</I>. (<I>Uroleucon</I>) <I>jejuni</I> sp. <B>nov.</B>, on <I>Echinops setifer</I> Iljin (Asteraceae) from Jeju Island, Korea. One new records of willow (Salicaceae) feeding aphid (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in Korea

The genus of Stomaphis (Aphididae: Lachninae) is stem or root feeding aphid on trees and can easily be distinguished in having the very long rostrum which extends beyond the length of body. Most of species are monoecious holocyclic without host alternation and attended by ants. Stomaphis sinisalicis Zhang & Zhong, 1982 (Aphididae: Lachninae) is recognized for the first time in Korea, on Salix babylonica L., S. koreensis Anderss. and S. hulteni Floderus (Salicaceae).
