A simple and efficient one-pot procedure for the synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivativesin water under ultrasound irradiation is described. These heterocycles were prepared by condensation ofdimedone with various aromatic aldehydes in the presence of Brønsted acidic ionic liquids as aconvenient, cheap, readily synthesized and eco-friendly catalyst. This procedure has a lot of advantagessuch as: excellent yields, simplicity of the workup, low cost, short reaction times and green conditions. Ionic liquids could be recycled several times without significant loss of activity and high purity.

A versatile and high yielding procedure for the direct generation of 2-substituted benzimidazoles from onitroaniline and aryl aldehydes in the presence of sodium dithionite as reducing agent under microwave irradiation is described. The obtained products were confirmed by physical and spectroscopic data such as IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR. This procedure has a lot of advantages including; excellent yields of products, short reaction times, mild reaction conditions, easy work-up and other noteworthy advantages which make this method a valid contribution to the existing methodologies.

economical and environmental friendly method has been developed for the synthesis of N,N'- bis(salicylidene)-arylmethanediamine derivatives. This procedure were carried out through one pot three component reaction of two different aromatic aldehydes and ammonium acetate salt in the presence of a base under free solvent conditions at room temperature. The Schiff base products were purely obtained in excellent yields and short reaction times.

The interaction between ionic surfactants and different nonionic molecules and polymers are studied using ion surfactant selective electrode. From the experimental data, critical concentrations of the interaction and binding process are evaluated. The interaction between hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HTAB) with polyethylene glycol (PEG) in three molecular weights (1000, 10000 and 100000) and also schiff-bases, 2-[2-carboxyphenyl nitrilomethylidyne]-phenol (ortho CNP), 2-[3-carboxyphenyl nitrilomethylidyne]-phenol (meta CNP)and 2-[4-carboxyphenyl nitrilomethylidyne]-phenol (para CNP) with the potentiometric method were investigated using HTAB membrane selective electrode. In the case of PEG with increasing molecular weights more interaction to HTAB occurs. The electromotive force (EMF) data also showed that interaction between para CNP with HTAB is more than the other schiff-bases. It seems this case related to less space interference of COOH group for that compound. The onset of binding ($T_1$) of course is the same for three schiffbase molecules.

A simple, efficient and rapid method has been developed for synthesis of 6,6-dimethyl-4-phenyl-6,7-dihydro-1H-spiro[furo[3,4-b]quinoline-9,30-indoline]1,20,8(3H,4H,5H)-trione derivatives. These heterocycleswere prepared through domino one-pot and multicomponent condensation reactions of isatins,dimedone, and anilinolactones in the presence of alum (15 mol%) as an inexpensive, nontoxic,convenient, and available Lewis acid catalyst under microwave irradiation. The corresponding productshave been obtained in excellent isolated yields between 78% and 90%, with high purity, in short reactiontimes about 10–12 min and easy work up.
Innovation Network Development Model in Telemedicine: A Change in Participation

This paper introduces a telemedicine innovation network and reports its implementation in Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The required conditions for the development of future projects in the field of telemedicine are also discussed; such projects should be based on the common needs and opportunities in the areas of healthcare, education, and technology. Methods: The development of the telemedicine innovation network in Tehran University of Medical Sciences was carried out in two phases: identifying the beneficiaries of telemedicine, and codification of the innovation network memorandum; and brainstorming of three workgroup members, and completion and clustering ideas. The present study employed a qualitative survey by using brain storming method. Thus, the ideas of the innovation network members were gathered, and by using Freeplane software, all of them were clustered and innovation projects were defined. Results: In the services workgroup, 87 and 25 ideas were confirmed in phase 1 and phase 2, respectively. In the education workgroup, 8 new programs in the areas of telemedicine, tele-education and teleconsultation were codified. In the technology workgroup, 101 and 11 ideas were registered in phase 1 and phase 2, respectively. Conclusions: Today, innovation is considered a major infrastructural element of any change or progress. Thus, the successful implementation of a telemedicine project not only needs funding, human resources, and full equipment. It also requires the use of innovation models to cover several different aspects of change and progress. The results of the study can provide a basis for the implementation of future telemedicine projects using new participatory, creative, and innovative models. A new PVC membrane electrode for $UO_2^{2+}$ ion based on 2,2'-[1,2-ethanediyl bis (nitriloethylidene)]bis(1-naphthalene) as a suitable ionophore was prepared. The electrode exhibites a Nernstian response for $UO_2^{2+}$ ion over a wide concentration range ($1.0{\times}10^{-1}-1.0{\times}10^{-7}$M) with a slope of 28.5 ${\pm}$ 0.8 mV/decade. The limit of detection is $7.0{\times}10^{-8}$M. The electrode has a response time of < 20 s and a useful working pH range of 3-4. The proposed membrane sensor shows good discriminating abilities towards $UO_2^{2+}$ ion with regard to several alkali, alkaline earth transition and heavy metal ions. It was successfully used to the recovery of uranyl ion from, tap water and, as an indicator electrode, in potentiometric titration of $UO_2^{2+}$ ion with Piroxycam.
