A number of articles have been published to illustrate the role of amines for the synthesis of zeolites and porosils. Some of the results are contradictory on the role of amines. In this study, the roles of amines are investigated by water-organic vapor-phase transport method. This method is attractive because the dilution effects by mother liquid can be avoided and the composition of the synthesized zeolite is equivalent to that of the parent gel. Thus, the relation between the gel and amine can be explained clearly. In the zeolite synthesis, the templating effect of amine is less plausible, whereas the molecules with higher dipole moment and appropriate dimension such as propylamine have higher effectiveness. The protonated amines cannot work as active cations independently but amines activate the inactive cations (organic and alkali) in the gel by means of reinforcement of the pH level in the gel.

<P>We demonstrate a method to realize vertically oriented Ge nanowires on Si(111) substrates. Ge nanowires were grown by chemical vapor deposition using Au nanoparticles to seed nanowire growth via a vapor–liquid–solid growth mechanism. Rapid oxidation of Si during Au nanoparticle application inhibits the growth of vertically oriented Ge nanowires directly on Si. The present method employs thin Ge buffer layers grown at low temperature less than 600 °C to circumvent the oxidation problem. By using a thin Ge buffer layer with root-mean-square roughness of ∼ 2 nm, the yield of vertically oriented Ge nanowires is as high as 96.3%. This yield is comparable to that of homoepitaxial Ge nanowires. Furthermore, branched Ge nanowires could be successfully grown on these vertically oriented Ge nanowires by a secondary seeding technique. Since the buffer layers are grown under moderate conditions without any high temperature processing steps, this method has a wide process window highly suitable for Si-based microelectronics. </P>

<P>Mesoporous polymer-carbon composite (CMPEI/CMK-3) materials were successfully prepared by incorporation of a chelating polymer, carboxymethylated polyethyleneimine (CMPEI), into a mesoporous carbon (CMK-3) and for immobilization of Eu(<SMALL>III</SMALL>) ions, commonly used surrogates for radioactive Am(<SMALL>III</SMALL>) ions. After Eu(<SMALL>III</SMALL>) ions were loaded onto the CMPEI/CMK-3 composite, they were subsequently confined by incorporation of polypyrrole (ppy) into the mesopores of the composites. Ppy was prepared as soluble short-chain polymers using NO<SUP>+</SUP> ions as oxidizing agents in a mildly acidic solution. These polymer chains were easily adsorbed on the walls of Eu-CMPEI/CMK-3 composites, efficiently immobilizing the Eu(<SMALL>III</SMALL>) ions. The use of a metal-free oxidizing agent, NO<SUP>+</SUP>, in mildly acidic conditions (pH 6) ensured the minimal loss of Eu(<SMALL>III</SMALL>) ions from the composites during polymerization. The resulting ppy/Eu-CMPEI/CMK-3 composites were characterized by electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and N<SUB>2</SUB> sorption analysis. The results from these characterizations commonly supported the conclusion that ppy was incorporated into the mesopores of the composites, altering the mesoporous features and reducing the pore volumes of the CMK-3 supports. Eu(<SMALL>III</SMALL>)-leaching tests showed that the presence of ppy layers in the composites could significantly improve the retention of Eu(<SMALL>III</SMALL>) ions. This study demonstrated that chelating polymer-based composites can be used for removal and long-term confinement of radioactive actinide species by properly optimizing polymer incorporation processes.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Polypyrrole has been introduced into the mesopores of Eu(<SMALL>III</SMALL>)-loaded chelating polymer-mesoporous carbon composites using a new oxidative polymerization. 국민의 소득향상 및 식습관의 서구화에 따라 증가하는 육류소비량을 충당하기 위해 국내 가축사육 규모가 지속적으로 커지고 있다. 이로 인해 가축분뇨의 발생량도 매년 많아지는 추세가 지속되고 있어서, 2019년 말의 분뇨발생량이 2008년 말 대비 24.2%가 늘어나는 결과를 보였다. 가축분뇨는 2012년부터 해양배출이 금지됨에 따라 공공처리장, 공동자원화시설, 개별처리시설 등에서 퇴비, 액비, 정화, 혐기소화 방법 등으로 처리되고 있다. 대부분의 퇴비와 액비는 경작농업에 사용하고 있지만 냄새와 환경문제 그리고 민원 등과 같은 문제점이 있으므로 이를 해결하기 위한 방안이 요구되고 있다. 또한 최근에 경축순환농업, 양분관리제, 탄소 중립 등과 같은 정책적 현안들이 대두되고 있으므로 지속발전이 가능한 축산업 기반구축을 위해 가축분뇨의 다양한 처리를 통한 이용성확대 방안의 모색이 절실하다. 따라서 본 연구는 가축분뇨 퇴비화시설에서 생산되는 가축분뇨 펠릿을 대상으로 하여 고체연료원으로서의 이용가능성을 분석하였다. 분석항목은 “가축분뇨 고체연료의 성분 등에 관한 기준”에 따라 저위발열량, 수분, 중금속 등을 대상으로 하였다. 가축분뇨 고체연료는 저위발열량은 3,000kcal/kg 이상, 수분 20% 미만, 회분 30% 이하, 황 2% 이하, 납 200 mg/kg 이하, 카드뮴 9 mg/kg 이하, 크롬 70 mg/kg 이하, 수은 1.2 mg/kg 이하이어야 하며 형태는 펠릿모양이어야 한다. 본 실험을 위해 9개의 퇴비화 시설에서 생산된 펠릿을 대상으로 분석을 실시한 결과, 펠릿제조의 원료는 각 시설별로 약간의 차이가 있었지만, 대체로 우분과 돈분, 계분 및 기타부재료(톱밥, 미강, 왕겨 등)를 일정비율로 혼합한 것을 사용하고 있었다. 환경부에서 고시한 성분기준(수분, 회분, 중금속)에 부합하는 펠릿시료의 평균 저위발열량은 3,323 kcal/kg 으로 나타났지만 일부 시료의 경우 3,000 kcal/kg 보다 낮은 수준을 보였다. 저위발열량은 수분이 높거나 회분이 높으면 대체로 낮게 나타났고, 수분과 회분이 동시에 높을 때는 더 낮게 나타났다.

Changes of paralytic shellfish toxin components and specific toxicity in blue mussel, Mytilus edulis and oyster, Crassostrea gigas during canning process were investigated by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). The mole% of the frozen shucked blue mussel were in order of 27.5 mole% of gonyuautoxin 1,23.0 mole% of gonyautoxin 8 (C1) and 23.0 mole% of epi-gonyautoxin 8(C2), while those of the frozen shucked oyster were in order of 29 mole% of C1, 22 mole% of C2, 16.7 mole% of gonyautoxin 2. Both samples had minor amounts of saxitoxin and neosaxitoxin. On the other hand, in case of specific toxicity, the major toxins were consisted of gonyautoxin 1-4 in both sample. The experimental results, C1, C2 and gonyautoxin 4 were very sensitive to heat treatment, while gonyautoxin 2 and saxitoxin were pretty heat resistant than any other toxin components.
