        Investigation on bubble snap-off in 3-D pore-throat micro-structures

        Yining Wu,Sisi Fang,Caili Dai,Yongpeng Sun,Jichao Fang,Yifei Liu,Long He 한국공업화학회 2017 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.54 No.-

Bubble behaviors in the single and cascaded three-dimensional (3-D) pore-throat micromodels were studied at the operating ranging from 0.0007 to 0.0249. It was found that the average size of daughter bubbles decreased with the rising of the pore-throat ratio, length of throat and mother bubble velocity. The variation of the average size of daughter bubbles with capillary number could be scaled with a power law. In addition, the bubble breakup mainly occurred in the first pore-throat structure and the size of the daughter bubbles maintained almost stable.

Risk Factors for Recurrent Colorectal Polyps

        Yuanzhen Hao,Yining Wang,Miao Qi,Xin He,Ying Zhu,Junbo Hong 거트앤리버 소화기연관학회협의회 2020 Gut and Liver Vol.14 No.4

The recurrence of colorectal polyps is caused by various factors and leads to the carcinogenesis of colorectal cancer, which ranks third in incidence and fourth in mortality among cancers worldwide. The potential risk factors for colorectal polyp recurrence have been demonstrated in multiple trials. However, an article that pools and summarizes the various results is needed. This review enumerates and analyzes some risk factors in terms of patient characteristics, procedural operations, polyp characteristics, and dietary aspects to propose some effective prophylactic measures. This review aimed to provide a reference for clinical application and guide patients to prevent colorectal polyp recurrence in a more effective manner.

Synthesis, surface adsorption and micelle formation of a class of morpholinium gemini surfactants

        Caili Dai,Sisi Fang,Mei Hu,Xiaojuan He,Mingwei Zhao,Xuepeng Wu,Shuai Yang,Yining Wua 한국공업화학회 2017 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.54 No.-

A series of novel gemini surfactants with morpholinium headgroup, 4, 40-(alkane-4, n-40)bis(4-decyl, dodecyl or tetradecyl morpholinium)bromide (Mm-n-Mm, m = 10, 12, 14, n = 3, 4), were synthesized and characterized using 1H NMR. The surfactants were investigated for their adsorption and micellization in aqueous solutions through surface tension and conductivity methods It was found that the physicochemical properties, such as surface activity and thermodynamic property of the aqueous surfactant system, were dependent on the lengths of both hydrophobic tail chain and spacer. With the increase of the hydrophobic chain length or the decrease of spacer length, the cmc value of the surfactant decreases and the ability to reduce the surface tension is stronger. The calculation result of thermodynamic parameters indicated that the surfactants we synthesized are more inclined to aggregate in solution as compared with traditional m-s-m type gemini surfactants, and the micellization of Mm-n-Mm was an entropy-driven process.

A novel strengthened dispersed particle gel for enhanced oil recovery application

        Caili Dai,Wenxia Chen,Qing You,Hong Wang,Yang Zhe,Long He,Baolei Jiao,Yining Wu 한국공업화학회 2016 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.41 No.-

A novel strengthened dispersed particle gel (SDPG) was proposed and investigated to improve hightemperatureand high-salinity stability of foam, which uses silica nanoparticles as reinforcing material tosupport the inner framework of particle gel. In this paper, SDPG was successfully prepared and applied toa new three-phase foam system (STPFS). Indoor experiments were conducted to evaluate the salttolerance, thermal tolerance, plugging capacity and enhanced oil recovery capacity of the STPFS. It provedthat silica nanoparticles could improve the high-temperature and high-salinity stability of the gelparticles effectively. Consequently, the new three-phase foam system (STPFS) exhibited superior salt andtemperature resistance, with a salinity of 80,000 mg/L of Na+, 15,000 mg/L of Ca2+ and Mg2+ andtemperature tolerance of 110 C. In addition, core-flooding test indicated the STPFS possessed betterplugging capacity with a resistance factor of 310 and better enhanced oil recovery capacity with the oilrecovery increment of 26.79% under high temperature (110 C) and high salt environment (212,633.8 mg/L).

Alterations of oral microbiota in Chinese children with viral encephalitis and/or viral meningitis

        Li Yijie,Liu Jing,Zhu Yimin,Peng Chunying,Dong Yao,Liu Lili,He Yining,Lu Guoping,Zheng Yingjie 한국미생물학회 2022 The journal of microbiology Vol.60 No.4

The role of oral microbiota in viral encephalitis and/or viral meningitis (VEVM) remains unclear. In this hospital-based, frequency-matched study, children with clinically diagnosed VEVM (n = 68) and those with other diseases (controls, n = 68) were recruited. Their oral swab samples were collected and the oral microbiota was profiled using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The oral microbiota of children with VEVM exhibited different beta diversity metrics (unweighted UniFrac distance: P < 0.001, R2 = 0.025, Bray-curtis dissimilarity: P = 0.045, R2 = 0.011, and Jaccard dissimilarity: P < 0.001, R2 = 0.017) and higher relative abundances of taxa identified by Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) with effect size (Enterococcus, Pedobacter, Massilia, Prevotella_9, Psychrobacter, Butyricimonas, Bradyrhizobium, etc., LDA scores > 2.0) when compared with the control group. The higher pathway abundance of steroid hormone biosynthesis predicted by oral microbiota was suggested to be linked to VEVM (q = 0.020). Further, a model based on oral microbial traits showed good predictive performance for VEVM with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.920 (95% confidence interval: 0.834–1.000). Similar results were also obtained between children with etiologically diagnosed VEVM (n = 43) and controls (n = 68). Our preliminary study identified VEVM-specific oral microbial traits among children, which can be effective in the diagnosis of VEVM.

Ginsenoside Rg1 ameliorates Alzheimer's disease pathology via restoring mitophagy

        Ni Wang,Junyan Yang,Ruijun Chen,Yunyun Liu,Shunjie Liu,Yining Pan,Qingfeng Lei,Yuzhou Wang,Lu He,Youqiang Song,Zhong Li The Korean Society of Ginseng 2023 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.47 No.3

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common form of dementia, and impaired mitophagy is a hallmark of AD. Mitophagy is mitochondrial-specific autophagy. Ginsenosides from Ginseng involve in autophagy in cancer. Ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1 hereafter), a single compound of Ginseng, has neuroprotective effects on AD. However, few studies have reported whether Rg1 can ameliorate AD pathology by regulating mitophagy. Methods: Human SH-SY5Y cell and a 5XFAD mouse model were used to investigate the effects of Rg1. Rg1 (1µM) was added to β-amyloid oligomer (AβO)-induced or APPswe-overexpressed cell models for 24 hours. 5XFAD mouse models were intraperitoneally injected with Rg1 (10 mg/kg/d) for 30 days. Expression levels of mitophagy-related markers were analyzed by western blot and immunofluorescent staining. Cognitive function was assessed by Morris water maze. Mitophagic events were observed using transmission electron microscopy, western blot, and immunofluorescent staining from mouse hippocampus. The activation of the PINK1/Parkin pathway was examined using an immunoprecipitation assay. Results: Rg1 could restore mitophagy and ameliorate memory deficits in the AD cellular and/or mouse model through the PINK1-Parkin pathway. Moreover, Rg1 might induce microglial phagocytosis to reduce β-amyloid (Aβ) deposits in the hippocampus of AD mice. Conclusion: Our studies demonstrate the neuroprotective mechanism of ginsenoside Rg1 in AD models. Rg1 induces PINK-Parkin mediated mitophagy and ameliorates memory deficits in 5XFAD mouse models.
