It is recently becoming one of the serious problems to provide the good quality aggregate for concrete because of natural aggregate shortage. The aim of this study is to analyze mechanical properties and their correlastionship of the various concrete composed of crushed sand and crushed stone which expected to be a good substitute for river sand and river gravel. The result showed that compressive strength, tensile strength and static moduls of elasticity of the different concrete composed of crushed sand and crushed stone were generally higher, though lower in slump, than those of the concrete composed of natural river aggregate, and the correlationship of each strength was pretty good.

The inference of concrete strength at fresh state is very important for quality control. This acid-neutralization method of bleeding water is one of several inference methods. The amount of acid added for neutralization is depended upon the W/C, slump, testing time, etc.; those are the experimental parameters of this study and are correlated with concrete strepgth. Test results:lower the W/C, larger the slump and delated the testing time, the amound of acid for neutralization increase. In this case, as slump & Scm and testing time is 60min, the correlation coefficient between amount of acid and concrete strength is very high.

Short-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (SCADD; OMIM # 201470) is an autosomal recessive inborn error of mitochondrial fatty acid ${\beta}$-oxidation, presenting with a variety of clinical signs and symptoms. Developmental delay, hypertonia or hypotonia, ketotic hypoglycemia, and epilepsy are most frequently reported. In general, patients diagnosed through newborn screening have shown normal growth and development in contrast to those diagnosed as a result of clinically initiated evaluations. Here, the case of an asymptomatic Korean newborn with SCADD identified by tandem mass spectrometry is reported. The patient showed an elevated concentration of butyrylcarnitine detected on newborn screening. Urinary excretion of ethylmalonic acid was elevated by urine organic acid analysis. To confirm the diagnosis of SCADD, a direct sequencing analysis of 10 coding exons and the exon-intron boundaries of the ACADS gene were performed. Genetic analysis of ACADS showed the following novel compound heterozygous missense mutations: c.277C>A (p.Leu93Ile) on exon3 and c.682G>A (p.Glu288Lys) on exon6. These results will provide further evidence of mutational heterogeneity for SCADD.

Many researches have been attempted to analyze the mechanical properties of concrete influencing on the aggregate factor, but the investigation on the characteristics of concrete about the fine and coarse aggregate composition (ie. S/A) in wide range is almost not attempted. So that this study was aimed for analyzing the consistency and mechanical properties of concrete with the variation of S/A in wide range on the case of difference W/C and kind of coarse aggregate, and aimed for establishing suitable range of fine aggregate ratio in each case. Results of the former are shown in the following fig. 2∼4 and those of the later are as follows in this experiment. 1. Supposing that W/C=55%, C=320㎏/㎥ and river gravel used is standard mixing, the suitable range of S/A was about 40% 2. On the case of using coarse aggregate with crushed stone in standard mixing, it must be increasing S/A about 0∼5% 3. When the W/C is increase or decrease by 10% than standard mixing (W/C=55%), the suitable range of S/A must be increase or decrease about 5%.

One of the most important materials in building structure is concrete. The counter-plan for aggregate which is one of the composite materials in making concrete should be established in view of the exhaustion of resources. According to the revolution of modern science, the techniques of concrete manufacture must be developed. And physical and chemical properties of concrete material must be improved. The ideas on the development of concrete are as follows; 1. Artificial aggregates should be more produced and the method of exploitation of industrial wastes also should be researched. 2. Lightweight concrete and high-strength concrete must be made. 3. Mechanical concrete construction should be used and at the same time complete quality control should be practised. 4. Special structures such as prefabrication, pre-stressed, shell, etc. should be used more often. And the technology of the concrete destruction engineering also should be improved.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P> <I>Porphyromonas gingivalis</I> (<I>P. gingivalis</I>) is one of the major periodontal pathogens leading to inflammation and alveolar bone resorption. Bone resorption is induced by osteoclasts, which are multinucleated giant cells. Osteoclastic bone resorption is mediated by enhanced receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL) signaling. Therefore, the down-regulation of RANKL downstream signals is regarded as an effective therapeutic target in the treatment of bone loss-associated disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether purified bee venom (BV) could attenuate <I>P. gingivalis</I>-induced inflammatory periodontitis and RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation. Inflammatory periodontitis induced by <I>P. gingivalis</I> increased alveolar bone resorption and increased expression of TNF-α and IL-1β, while BV treatment resulted in decreased bone loss and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Similarly, RANKL-induced multinucleated osteoclast differentiation and osteoclast-specific gene expression, such as nuclear factor of activated T cells 1 (NFATc1), cathepsin K, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP), and integrin αvβ3 were significantly suppressed by treatment with BV. We show that BV reduces <I>P. gingivalis</I>-induced inflammatory bone loss-related periodontitis <I>in vivo</I> and RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation, activation, and function <I>in vitro</I>. These results suggest that BV exerts positive effects on inflammatory periodontitis associated osteoclastogenesis.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> BV diminished osteoclast differentiation and function. </LI> <LI> BV blocked the MAPKs signaling pathway. </LI> <LI> BV ameliorated bone resorption associated with periodontitis. </LI> </UL> </P>
