Background: Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.) Medik (Brassicaceae), commonly known as ‘shepherd’s purse’, has a long history of use in traditional medicinal use in regions such as Korea, China, and Europe. Numerous studies have revealed its diverse pharmacological properties and identified various metabolites. Method and Result: In this review, we analyzed numerous studies related to C. bursa-pastoris, which are currently underway. We examined genomic research that has enabled determination of genomic size and origin, as well as transcriptome studies conducted to investigate genes related to environmental stress. We discussed the pharmacological properties of this plant, including its validated anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-hemorrhagic activities. We also reviewed the various metabolites, including phenols, flavonoids, and sulfur compounds, which have been identified in this plant. We also discuss the biosynthetic pathways of choline and glucosinolates which were investigated using Arabidopsis thaliana, a model plant belonging to the family Brassicaceae, as this research can facilitate future studies on C. bursa-pastoris. Conclusion: This review provides a comprehensively summarizes the research conducted on C. bursa-pastoris as a traditional resource for use in pharmaceutical applications and foods. This will contribute to future studies focused on enhancing the levels of valuable functional compounds from this plant.
An integrated packaging antenna-diplexer module for cellular/SDMB bands with LTCC technology

<P>This article presents an integrated packaging antenna-diplexer module for wireless communication system in the cellular and satellite digital multimedia broadcasting (SDMB) band. Multilayer low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) technology with integration capability was used in design and fabrication of the proposed module. To achieve a compact integration, an inverted-F antenna (IFA) with a meander line and a diplexer composed of low-pass filter (LPF) and high-pass filter (HPF) was embedded. The proposed module with dimension of 27.5 × 12.0 × 2.2 mm<SUP>3</SUP> operates over a range from 813 to 902 MHz for the cellular band and from 2586 to 2655 MHz for the SDMB band. An isolation level below −25 dB was obtained at each band. The measured gains of the fabricated module are −1.96 and −5.43 dBi, respectively. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 최근 인터넷의 폭발적인 확장에 따라서 웹 서버의 절대 개수가 증가하였으며, 웜 바이러스에 의한 웹 서버의 공격도 빈번해졌다. 바이러스의 무제한 자기 증식이라는 특성에 따라 인터넷상의 공격 패킷의 증가로 인하여 네트워크가 마비되고, 특히 IIS가 DoS공격으로 인하여 많은 피해를 입었다. 이에 따라 웜 바이러스의 공격을 방어하기 위한 많은 방법이 제시되었는데, 본 논문에서는 웜 바이러스의 공격 패턴을 분석하여 웜 바이러스의 공격 패턴의 특성이 어떠한지를 연구하였다. 대부분의 웜 바이러스 공격이 IIS에는 유효하지만 유닉스 시스템에서는 무력한 점을 이용하여, UNIX 시스템에서 구동되는 Apache 웹 서버의 로그 정보를 사용하여 웜 바이러스의 공격 패턴을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 웜 바이러스의 공격 패턴은 Hurst 상수 H에 의한 자기 유사성을 나타내는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Background: Mental illness is known to be caused by genetic, biological, and environmental risk factors. Although previous studies have established the link between mental illness and job stress, most of them are limited to major depression disorder. Therefore, this study examined the relationship between job stress and bipolar spectrum disorder (BSD). Methods: This is a cross-sectional study based on a survey conducted in April 2017 at an electronic parts manufacturing company in Busan. In a total of 441 workers, the degree of BSD was identified using the Korean version of the Mood Disorder Questionnaire, and the degree of job stress was identified using the Korean Occupational Stress Scale Short Form. This study also identified general characteristics of workers and job-related factors. The χ2 test and Fisher"s exact test was conducted to determine the differences among the variables, based on BSD. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the influence of independent variables on BSD. Results: Cross-analysis showed significant differences between the BSD high-risk and low-risk groups regarding age, sex, occupation, smoking, problem drinking, job stress total score, occupational climate, and major depression disorder symptom. In addition, the significant differences between the BSD high-risk and low-risk groups about job stress were observed in terms of job demand, job insecurity, and occupational climate. A multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that the high-risk group in the job stress group had a higher effect on BSD than the low-risk group (odds ratio [OR]: 2.32, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.10–4.88). Among the categories of job stress, high-risk groups in 3 areas—job demand (OR: 2.56, 95% CI: 1.27–5.17), job insecurity (OR: 4.42, 95% CI: 1.19–16.42), and occupational climate (OR: 2.55, 95% CI: 1.29–5.05)—were more likely to have an impact on BSD than the low-risk groups. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the high-risk groups of job stress total score, job demand, job insecurity, and occupational climate had a more significant effect on BSD than the low-risk groups. As workers with BSD may have difficulties in their work and personal lives, there is a need to manage job stress to prevention of BSD.
Krill and Coconut Oil Attenuates Inflammation and ER Stress in Murine Adipocytes

Selection of which dietary fatty acids are crucial to prevent potential metabolic complications, such as CVD or obesity. Among various fatty acids, PUFAs consumption are highly important since PUFAs consumption is directly related to systemic and local inflammation. Obesity is termed as a low-grade inflammation and elevation of ER stress. In this study, Krill oil (KO) and coconut oil (CO) were treated to 3T3-L1 adipocytes to understand whether KO or CO could prevent adipocyte inflammation and ER stress. Both KO and CO treatment significantly attenuated LPS-inducible inflammation by suppressing phosphorylation of MAPK (i.e., p-JNK and p-ERK) in fully differentiated adipocytes. Moreover, KO remarkably attenuated LPS-inducible cytokine mRNA expressions (i.e., IL-6 and IL-1b). Moreover, both KO and CO also decreased thapsigargin inducible ER stress protein expressions (i.e., BiP and CHOP). To our surprise, CO prevented thapsigargin-inducible ER stress effectively in a lower concentration than KO. These results suggest that PUFAs may modulate adipocyte inflammation and ER stress in mammalian cells.
