The torsion beam axle is widely used in the rear suspension for small passenger cars due to low cost, good performance, etc. To develop the torsion beam axle, it is necessary to estimate the characteristics of rear suspension in the initial stage of the design process. The dynamic characteristics estimation of the torsion beam axle is performed using FEM, dynamic simulation and is verified through the real test. In this study, the natural frequency and roll stiffness of the torsion beam axle were predicted by FEM, and the FE model was validated by the comparison with test data. This study presents a result of dynamic and durability analysis for performance estimation of the torsion beam axle.<br/>

Vehicle dynamic simulation has been carried out using the coherence of road roughness between left and right wheels. The generated twin tracks with the coherence of road roughness between left and right wheels are in good agreements with the measured coherence relation of left and right wheels. And these tracks reflect well on the roughness characteristics of real roads. Using the generated roads and multibody dynamic simulation program, vehicle dynamic simulation is performed. The vertical and roll motion analysis of a vehicle are carried out using the realistic road profiles with the coherence between left and right wheels and the results are in good agreements with the dynamic characteristics of a vehicle.

Many researches on driver's behaviors based on human factors have been being carried out for effective evaluation on the vehicles with various intelligent control systems. The ergonomic approaches are considered on the evaluation process as well as the development process of the intelligent control systems. This paper focuses on the preview distance among human factors affecting driver behaviors, which exerts on vehicle's steering stability. The researches on the preview distance exclude the real vehicle test or are confined to obscure assumptions so far. In this paper drivers are classified through statistically ergonomic analysis on the drivers' characteristics such as gender, age, driving experience, and so on. There are two test methods applied for the analysis of the characteristics of the drivers' preview distance - real driving test for the subjective evaluation and simulator test equipped with eye tracking system for the objective evaluation. On the basis of the results from two test methods, it is concluded that the main parameters affecting the preview distance, which varies along with drivers' characteristics, are the road curvature and the vehicle speed among external stimuli.

Since the car is more large - size and is faster, the driver's demand of the vehicle stability at the extreme driving condition generated by sudden steering, road condition, unexpected interface, and so on increases more. To confirm vehicle stability and handling performance, ESP system is being utilized. In this paper, we test the vehicle in various test mode. and propose the evaluation method for ESP characteristics in the extreme driving situation. The proposed evaluation method for ESP in this paper is expected to facilitate to develop the control logic and improve the performance of ESP system.

This study presents a unique method for the finite element modeling and analysis of the torsion beam axle. The results of the FEA were verified using test data.
샤시코너모듈 개발을 위한 부품의 내고 성능 예측에 대한 연구

Chassis system has a large influence on ride quality, stability and NVH performance of a car. To improve the performance and reduce cost, the development of chassis modular assemblies is emphasized. To develop chassis corner modules, it is necessary to predict the performance of full vehicle motion such as ride, handling performance, NVH characteristics and durability of modules.<br/> In this paper, full vehicle simulations and tests are performed to acquire the design parameter of chassis corner module of passenger car. 3-axis simulator modeling are carried out to simulate reaction force analysis and fatigue analysis of new developed modules. Also, real vehicle tests to validate performance of new developed modules are performed. We had developed the accelerated durability test procedure of KA TECH PG and it is used to test chassis corner modules at laboratory and simulate durability performance.<br/> All these results have been provided to module and parts company and make an important role to develop chassis corner modules.<br/>
