The covering effect of the barley-straw and rice-straw for the control of summer depression was observed upon various experimental plot. i.e. the additional fertilizing plot to weed; the reseeding and complete cultivating plots of perennial ryegrass, italian ryegrass, timothy, orchard grass, red clover, white clover, orchard grass, ladino clover mixture seeding plot, and orchard grass, ladino clover, alfalfa mixture seeding plot; and the results were as follows: The temperature of grassland was decreased to 2.096℃ by the rice-straw and barley straw covering on August. The most yield of grass was obtained from the barley-straw covering plot (200㎏ per 10 are), and the more medium than the above amount was covered, the more soft grass was decayed and the yield of grass was decreased gradually.

The grassland of the premix seed(perennial ryegrass, italian ryegrass, orchard grass, timothy, red clover, white clover) introduced from Newzealand has been established by the complete cultivating method and the reseeding method of April 15, and the ratio of growth, yield and chemical component of them were determined and the results was as follows; The ratio of the grass harvested was 25.02% of grass in the reseeding plot and 83.71% in the complete cultivating plot on the first harvest time, and on the second time, 82.67% of weeds in the reseeding plot and 28.39% in the complete cultivating plot, and from september late the ratio of growth of the legumes were increased gradually. The green grass yield of the complete cultivating plot was shown 1,117㎏ per 10 are and of the reseeding plot was 868㎏. The crude protein content of the additional fertilizing plot was 1.70%, the reseeding plot was 1.98% and the complete cultivating plot was 2.68%.

The sample seeds examined in these studies were orchard grass, tall fescue, italian ryegrss, ladino clover, alfalfa and their mixed seed, and the introduced premix seed. The ratio of growth, the yield and the content of chemical components the green grass and hay were determined to find out the optimum ratio of seed mixture on the improvement of the grassland. The ratio of growth in the first harvest time was 64.75% of the grasses 20.47% of the legumes and 14.77% of the seeds, and the more harvest time, the more amount of the legumes and the less the weeds obtained. The most yield (2,748㎏ per 10 are as green grass) of grass were obtained from the orchard grass, ladino clover and alfalfa mixture, and orchard grass, tall fescue, italian ryegrass, ladino clover mixture and orchard grass, ladino clover mixture yield similar amount of the grass each other, and the introduced premix seed yields the least amount(1,619 ㎏ per 10 are as green grass) of the grass of all the seed mixtures. During the summer, orchard grass, ladino clover and alfalfa mixture yeild the most amount of the grass, and the introduced premix grass seed yields the least and the others medium. The most content of the crude protein was obtained from orchard grass, ladino clover and alfalfa mixture, the others contained the similar content of each other.
