Design and simulation of resonance based DC current sensor
Santhosh Kumar, B.V.M.P.,Suresh, K.,Varun Kumar, U.,Uma, G.,Umapathy, M. Techno-Press 2010 Interaction and multiscale mechanics Vol.3 No.3
A novel resonance based proximity DC current sensor is proposed. The sensor consists of a piezo sensed and actuated cantilever beam with a permanent magnet mounted at its free end. When the sensor is placed in proximity to a wire carrying DC current, resonant frequency of the beam changes with change in current. This change in resonant frequency is used to determine the current through the wire. The structure is simulated in micro and meso scale using COMSOL Multi physics software and the sensor is found to be linear with good sensitivity.
Change detection in urban landscapes: a tensor factorization approach
S. Saritha,G. Santhosh Kumar 대한공간정보학회 2019 Spatial Information Research Vol.27 No.5
Analysis of urban landscape has been an interesting research challenge for decades. The advent of machine learning and data mining techniques have geared the problem from simple analysis of data to knowledge discovery from data. This work attempts to mine urban landscapes to find the change pattern which has happened over the region for a period of interest. The work proposes a spatiotemporal-metric miner, which uses the spatial, temporal and landscape metric data to discover the change that has occurred in a region. The model works on a hierarchical basis, wherein, the regions of interest are chosen in a landscape and are aggregated to find the change that has happened over the entire region. The entire model is built by taking advantage of the tensorized representation of data, and thus resulting in the effective mining of tensors. The growth of a landscape is evaluated regarding two parameters, namely, Inter-class Growth Index and Intra-class Growth Index. Experiments are performed on the landscape regions of Indian cities, and a ranking of cities is presented based on the growth indices, which are validated against standards. In the experiments, Jaipur city showed the highest Inter-class Growth Index value of 2.68 and Surat city had an Intra-class Growth Index of 0.78.

The rare-earth chromates, RECrO3 and manganites REMnO3 (RE = Eu, Y, Dy, Ho, Gd) are considered potential room temperature multiferroics. However, artefacts and undesirable signals pose a severe challenge in confirming the ferroelectric (FE) phase, especially in pyroelectric current measurement technique. We propose a simple modified approach to the technique, named as 4-segment thermal cycling protocol. This protocol assists in isolating the irreversible thermally stimulated current from those associated with spontaneous and reversible nature of the electric polarization in FE phase. Here, we have compared simulated response of two hypothetical materials; an FE material and a paraelectric material. Further, we experimentally verify the protocol in a single crystal of prototype FE material, Glycine Phosphite. Using the proposed protocol, we investigated polycrystalline materials, HoCrO3 (reported multiferroic earlier) and DyFe0.5Mn0.5O3. Our results expound on the absence of reversible spontaneous electric polarization in temperature ranges tested.
