<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>As the importance of personalized therapeutics in aggressive papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) increases, accurate risk stratification is required. To develop a novel prognostic scoring system for patients with PTC (n = 455), we used mRNA expression and clinical data from The Cancer Genome Atlas. We performed variable selection using Network‐Regularized high‐dimensional Cox‐regression with gene network from pathway databases. The risk score was calculated using a linear combination of regression coefficients and mRNA expressions. The risk score and clinical variables were assessed by several survival analyses. The risk score showed high discriminatory power for the prediction of event‐free survival as well as the presence of metastasis. In multivariate analysis, the risk score and presence of metastasis were significant risk factors among the clinical variables that were examined together. In the current study, we developed a risk scoring system that will help to identify suitable therapeutic options for PTC.</P>
멤브레인 표면 보호막을 적용하여 MEMS 풍향풍속센서의 내환경성 강화에 관한 연구

기상관측 분야에서는 풍속센서의 소형화 요구가 커지고 있어 air flow sensor를 이용한 MEMS(Micro Electro Mechanical System) 풍향풍속센서의 응용연구가 활발하다. MEMS 풍향풍속센서는 바람의 세기와 함께 방향을 측정하여야 하는데, 센서 칩이 외부환경에 노출되어 있기 때문에 센서소자의 내오염성과 내구성 확보가 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 thermopile 방식의 풍향풍속센서를 제작하였으며, 센서 표면을 보호하기 위하여 SU-8과 Teflon, PI를 센서 칩의 표면 상 · 하부 보호막으로 사용하였다. 먼저 표면 상부 보호막으로 사용하기 위해 발수성 및 접착성 테스트와 상부 보호막의 유무에 따른 풍향풍속센서의 동작특성을 확인하였다. 또한 표면 하부 보호막으로 사용하기 위해 발열체에 열충격을 주어 발열체의 용도분포와 발열로 인해 발생할 수 있는 발열체의 변형 및 센서의 응답속도를 측정하였다.

<P>2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is a well-known environmental contaminant that exerts its toxicity through a variety of signaling mechanisms. The present study evaluated the effects of 27-deoxyactein, one of the major constituents isolated from Cimicifuga racemosa, on TCDD-induced toxicity in osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells. TCDD reduced cell survival, markedly increased apoptosis, and enhanced autophagy activity. However, pre-treatment with 27-deoxyactein attenuated all TCDD-induced effects and significantly decreased intracellular calcium (Ca2+) concentrations, the collapse of the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and cardiolipin peroxidation compared to the TCDD-treated controls. Additionally, TCDD-induced increases in the levels of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1), and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) were significantly inhibited by 27-deoxyactein. The mRNA levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), ERK1, and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-B) were also effectively restored by pre-treatment with 27-deoxyactein. Furthermore, 27-deoxyactein significantly increased the expressions of genes associated with osteoblast differentiation, including alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osteocalcin, bone sialoprotein (BSP), and osterix. Taken together, the present findings demonstrate the preventive effects of 27-deoxyactein on TCDD-induced damage in osteoblasts.</P>

Objective : To determine the frequency of fetal anomaly and perinatal outcome in pregnant women with polyhydramnios. Methods : Ultrasound examinations from January 1998 to August 2001 were reviewed to identify 170 patients with singleton pregnancy which diagnosed polyhydramnios. Frequency of fetal anomaly and perinatal outcomes were compared with amniotic fluid index (AFI) 20.0-25.0 ㎝ as group 1 and AFI >25.0 ㎝ as group 2. Results : The prevalence of polyhydramnios was 0.54% (170/31,358). The types of structural anomalies were gastrointestinal system (10/34, 29.4%), genitourinary system (9/34, 26.5%), central nervous system (CNS, 6/34, 17.7%), cardiovascular system (CVS, 3/34, 8.8%), neuromuscular system (2/34, 5.9%), respiratory system (1/34, 2.9%) and others (3/34, 8.8%). The structural anomaies between two groups were significantly different. The rate of cesarean section, low 5-min Apgar score (<7), large for gestational age (LGL, 95 percentile), Nursery Intensive Care Unit (NICU) visitation and perinatal death were not significantly different between two groups. Conclusion : The prevalence of fetal anomaly was 20% (34/170) and significantly different between two groups (p=0.0143). However, the perinatal outcome was not significantly different between two groups. CNS, gastrointestinal system and CVS anomalies were more frequent in group 2 (AFI>25.0 ㎝) and genitourinary system anomaly was dominant in group 1 (AFI 20.0-25.0 ㎝). Polyhydramnios (AFI>25.0 ㎝) indicated an increased risk of severe fetal anomaly.
