In this paper we present a framework for a novel kind of context-aware preference query composition whereby queries for the Preference SQL system are created. We choose a commercial e-business platform for outdoor activities as a use case and develop a context model for this domain within our framework. The suggested model considers explicit user input, domain-specific knowledge, contextual knowledge and location-based sensor data in a comprehensive approach. Aside from the theoretical background of preferences, the optimization of preference queries and our novel generator based model we give special attention to the aspects of the implementation and the practical experiences. We provide a sketch of the implementation and summarize our user studies which have been done in a joint project with an industrial partner.

Isospin properties of electric dipole excitations in <sup>48</sup>Ca

Two different experimental approaches were combined to study the electric dipole strength in the doubly-magic nucleus <SUP>48</SUP>Ca below the neutron threshold. Real-photon scattering experiments using bremsstrahlung up to 9.9 MeV and nearly mono-energetic linearly polarized photons with energies between 6.6 and 9.51 MeV provided strength distribution and parities, and an (α,α<SUP>'</SUP>γ) experiment at E<SUB>α</SUB>=136MeV gave cross sections for an isoscalar probe. The unexpected difference observed in the dipole response is compared to calculations using the first-order random-phase approximation and points to an energy-dependent isospin character. A strong isoscalar state at 7.6 MeV was identified for the first time supporting a recent theoretical prediction.

Purpose Available clinical data have revealed that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with a risk of pulmonarymicrothrombosis and small airway disease. These patients present with varying degrees of perfusion abnormalities. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of a ventilation/perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (VQ SPECT/CT) in the detection and follow-up of persistent lung perfusion abnormalities that weresuspected to be due to pulmonary microthrombosis, small airway disease, or both. Methods A retrospective study was conducted at the department of nuclear medicine of Universitas Academic Hospital inBloemfontein, South Africa. We reviewed the studies of 78 non-hospitalized patients with COVID-19 infection referred toour department from July 2020 to June 2021 for a perfusion only SPECT/CT study or a VQ SPECT/CT study. Pulmonaryembolism was suspected in all 78 cases. Results Seventy-eight patients were studied. The median (interquartile range) age was 45 (41–58) years, and the majority(n = 69; 88.5%) were females. Twenty-two (28.2%) of these patients had matching VQ defects with mosaic attenuation onCT. All nine of the patients who had follow-up studies had these abnormalities persistently, even after 1 year. Conclusion We confirm that the VQ scan is a safe and effective tool to identify and follow-up recovered COVID-19 patientswith persistent ventilation and perfusion abnormalities suspicious of small airway disease and pulmonary microthrombosis.

This paper discusses two approaches for pre-polishing optimization of oxide chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) that can be used as alternatives to the commonly applied dummy structure insertion in shallow trench isolation (STI) and replacement gate (RG) technologies: reverse nitride masking (RNM) and oxide etchback (OEB). Wafers have been produced using each optimization technique and CMP tests have been performed. Dishing, erosion and global planarity have been investigated with the help of conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM). The results demonstrate the effectiveness of both techniques which yield excellent planarity without dummy structure related performance degradation due to capacitive coupling.

A Biodegradable Polymeric Matrix for the Repair of Annulus Fibrosus Defects in Intervertebral Discs

BACKGROUND: Tissue defects in the annulus fibrosus (AF) due to intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration or after nucleodiscectomy have little self-healing capacity. To prevent progressive degeneration of the IVD, the AF must be repaired. Biological closure has not yet been achieved and is a challenge for the research community. In this study, a scaffold made of absorbable poly (glycolic acid) (PGA) and hyaluronan (HA) that exhibit excellent biocompatibility and cell colonization properties was used to repair AF defects in an ovine model. METHODS: A partial resection was performed in AF in L3/4 or L4/5 of 10 sheep and PGA-HA scaffolds were implanted on the defects (n = 5), while defects in the control group were left untreated (n = 5). Three months post-operation, the lumbar discs were sectioned and stained with hematoxylin and eosin and safranin-O/fast-green. Histological features including proteoglycan content, annular structure, cellular morphology, blood vessel ingrowth and tear/cleft formation were scored using a modified scoring scheme by 3 investigators and evaluated by a pathologist independently. RESULTS: The treated AF exhibited significantly enhanced repair tissue structure with signs of proteoglycan formation compared to the untreated group. The median scores were 4.3 for the treated and 9.8 for the untreated group. Cystic degeneration, perivascular infiltration, inflammation and necrosis were only present in the untreated group. Blood vessel ingrowth and tear/cleft formation were increased, though not significant, in the untreated group while cell morphology was comparable in both groups. CONCLUSION: PGA-HA scaffolds used for AF closure support repair tissue formation in an ovine lumbar disc defect model.
Kinetics of Internal Oxidation in Ag-6Sn-2In-1Te-0.2Ni and Ag-6Sn-0.6Cu-1Bi-0.2Ni Type Alloys

Internal oxidation process was followed in Ag-6Sn-2In-1Te-0.2Ni and Ag-6Sn-0.6Cu-1Bi-0.2Ni alloy types in free air and oxygen at 650 °C and 680 °C. It was found that the Cu and Bi bearing alloy had a higher rates of internal oxidation in all of the tested conditions, whish was due to Bi effect accelerating the internal oxidation. In the early stage of internal oxidation of the Ag-6Sn-2In-1Te-0.2Ni alloy, an inhomogeneous structure revealed, which changed to a homogenous pattern after longer oxidation times. Such a structure was suppressed in the Bi bearing alloy. The applied 6 bar oxygen atmosphere brought on a 5-6 times higher rate of internal oxidation, with a homogenous structure compared to the free air oxidation. In free air after long time oxidation (200 h - 250 h), the rate of internal oxidation was found to have almost doubled in both alloys.
