Social Media Adoption in SMEs Impacted by COVID-19: The TOE Model

Mohamad Irhas EFFENDI,Dyah SUGANDINI,Yuni ISTANTO 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11

The purpose of the research is to analyze the behavioral intention to adopt social media in SMEs affected by the COVID-19 crisis, based on the TOE Model. This study uses the TOE framework as a theoretical basis. This research is important because COVID-19 has destroyed most of the SMEs, and SMEs are exposed to social media technology to market their products. The success of social media adoption has helped SMEs to be able to rise from adversity. Respondents in this study were 250 SMEs in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The data analysis technique used is structural equation modeling with AMOS. The results of this study indicate that SMEs affected by the COVID-19 crisis have a high awareness of social media and have a high intention to adopt social media as a way to market their products and connect with customers. The intention to adopt social media is significantly influenced by the technological context, organizational context, environmental context, and social media awareness. The findings of this study suggest that in times of crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government support is needed. The Government needs to open services for SMEs whose businesses are affected by the pandemic.

Generation of a Decision Support System to Enhance the Efficiency of Lean Manufacturing

        Effendi Mohamad,Mohd Amran Ibrahim,Muhamad Arfauz A. Rahman,Mohd Rizal Salleh,Mohd Amri Sulaiman 대한산업공학회 2019 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.18 No.2

Lean manufacturing (LM) is an established process that employs an array of instruments to eradicate waste. A variety of methods have been applied (some more successfully than others) to enhance the effectiveness of this process. This study delves into the introduction of the Intelligent Lean Tools Simulation (iLeTS) to overcome the deficiencies in the LM process and reduce the failure ratio. Fabricated with the use of modelling software, the performance of iLeTS was enhanced by way of an amalgamation involving the visual basic application (VBA) and the multi agent system (MAS). This merging served to enhance the user friendliness of iLeTS, which in turn reduced the required period of usage. Face validity and a usability study were harnessed to evaluate the performance of iLeTS. While face validity was used to authenticate the multi-agent system flow in iLeTS; the usability study was engaged to determine the proficiency of iLeTS when it comes to managing a number of arbitrarily occurring incidents. Subsequent to a thorough examination of a wide range of simulation results (deriving from authentic data), we arrived at the conclusion that (a) the iLeTS is suitable for the automation of the manufacturing process, and (b) the iLeTS can be relied upon for making prompt and appropriate choices.

Green Supply Chain Integration and Technology Innovation Performance in SMEs: A Case Study in Indonesia

Mohamad Irhas EFFENDI,Hendro WIDJANARKO,Dyah SUGANDINI 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.4

The purpose of the research to analyze SMEs’ technological innovation performance in the Special Region of Yogyakarta based on green supply chains. This study’s technology innovation performance is influenced by environmental management practices, green supply chain integration, and supply chain knowledge-sharing. This research is important because many SMEs are underdeveloped in terms of technology innovation performance. Technology innovation performance shows that innovation has a multi-dimensional ecological performance in organizations. Therefore, SMEs’ sustainable supply chain could be achieved by managing operations, support, and information by focusing on environmental and social issues to maximize the entire chain. This study used primary data. The number of respondents in this study was 200 SMEs that have implemented green supply chain management practices. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. The data analysis technique tool used is a two-step approach to SEM-AMOS. The results of this study indicate that SMEs are willing to implement a green supply chain to increase their performance. The technological innovation performance model of this study is acceptable. The findings of this research suggest that companies must be encouraged to maintain and increase the implementation of green supply chain integration and better supply chain knowledge-sharing with improved technological innovation performance enhancements.

The Influence of Transformational Leadership on Employees’ Innovation in Universities of UAE: Mediating Effect of Technological Diversity

Tariq Humaid ALMASKARI,Effendi MOHAMAD,Siti Norbaya YAHAYA,Muhammad Farhan JALIL 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.7

This study seeks to empirically investigate the impact of transformational leadership on employees’ innovation with the mediating effect of technological diversity. Employees have evolved into leaders in organizing work within institutions over the last few decades. This shift presents new demands for leaders, who are forced to reinvent individual workers while also improving workplace innovation. This research proposes a conceptual model for considering transformational leadership and the impact of technological diversity on innovation. Structured questionnaire is used in the study and the analysis of the data from 633 employees of universities in the United Arab Emirates uses stratified sampling technique and hypotheses verified through Structural Equations Modelling (AMOS-21). According to the results, transformational leadership has a big effect on employees’ innovation. Furthermore, in the relationship between transformational leadership and workforce innovation, technological diversity has a partial mediation impact. This research adds to the growing body of knowledge about how transformational leadership influences employees’ innovation and how it affects employees’ success, especially in the context of UAE-based universities. Overall, this research contributes to the previous studies wherein transformational leadership plays a critical role in influencing the innovative performance of employees and that, in turn, will promote diversification of technology in the organization.

Leadership as a Driver of Employees’ Innovation Performance: The Mediating Effect of Cultural Diversity in UAE Universities

Tariq Humaid ALMASKARI,Effendi MOHAMAD,Siti Norbaya YAHAYA,Muhammad Farhan JALIL 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.8

The aim of this research was to look into the relationship between leadership; transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and employee innovation, as well as the mediating impact of cultural diversity between leadership and employee innovation. Structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from 633 public and private universities’ employees in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the help of the stratified sampling technique, and hypothesis verified through structural equations modelling (AMOS-21). Findings of the study shows that leadership has positive impact on employee innovation and cultural diversity partially mediates the relationship between leadership and innovative performance of UAE universities’ employees. Practical implication of the study is to understand how universities can enhance their employees’ innovation which is crucial for their competitiveness and survival. Moreover, the increasing prevalence of cultural diversity, as work arrangements in universities, raises the question of how to successfully manage employees. Although few studies have looked into how transformational and transactional leadership styles affect employees’ innovation performance, this study expands on the topic by concentrating on sub-dimensions of leadership that foster innovation through idea generation and execution at the United Arab Emirates universities. This study offers valuable insights for educational leaders and throws light on the main characteristics of leadership which helps the employees to perform better in terms of innovation.
