        Endoscope-Assisted Cochlear Implantation

Enis Alpin Güneri,Yüksel Olgun 대한이비인후과학회 2018 Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology Vol.11 No.2

Objectives. Our aim was to present our endoscope-assisted cochlear implantation (CI) technique, in which the middle ear landmarks were identified through the facial recess exposure by using an endoscopic view without elevating the tympanic annulus. The secondary goal was to assess whether the situation of difficult surgical exposure could be predicted by evaluating preoperative axial computed tomography (CT) examinations. Methods. CT examinations and surgical outcomes of endoscope-assisted CI surgeries were analyzed. Results. A total of 179 CI operations performed in 27 adults (15.1%) and 152 children (84.9%) were retrospectively evaluated. It was found that in 14 cases (7.8%), endoscopic examination contributed substantially in identifying the round window (RW) membrane correctly. Endoscopic identification of the RW through the posterior tympanotomy enabled us to perform a straightforward surgery in all these cases, without the need for switching to a bony cochleostomy or alternative surgical techniques. The difficulty in the surgical exposure was predicted preoperatively by examining the axial CT scans in six of the 14 cases (42.8%) for which endoscopic assistance was necessary in order to identify the RW correctly. Conclusion. The main benefit of endoscope-assisted CI is the improved visibility leading to a panoramic view of the RW region. The implementation of transfacial recess endoscopic examination into the conventional CI technique is helpful to avoid problems during surgical orientation. However, the difficulty in the surgical exposure of the RW cannot be reliably predicted by the subjective evaluation of preoperative CT scans and more studies are needed to obtain reliable criteria.

The Relationship Between Human Capital Development and Economic Growth

Eny Lestari WIDARNI,Regina Niken WILANTARI 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.6

This study aims to determine the behavior of education and health data in driving economic growth in Malaysia before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, namely, in the period from 2000 to 2019. This period was chosen to assess the behavior of data in the past so that it can be an indicator for decision-making for the future. To achieve this goal, the Quantitative Threshold Autoregressive method is used to predict data behavior so that the relationship between data can be seen in order to forecast economic growth when investing in health and education. This study focuses on secondary data sourced from the World Bank, including data on Malaysian gross domestic product, health investment in Malaysia and investment in education. We find that education and health are very important means of investing in human capital to drive economic growth. Education and health have the potential to be the two means of awakening and developing and restoring the economy during a pandemic and post-pandemic period. Education is a human resource development mechanism. However, education will be difficult to improve human performance without support from health. Education and health support each other in improving economic performance in Malaysia.

Human Capital, Technology, and Economic Growth:A Case Study of Indonesia

Eny Lestari WIDARNI,Suryaning BAWONO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.5

This study discusses the effect of human capital and technology on economic growth in Indonesia using annual time series data over the 35-year research period (1984–2019). This study uses an autoregressive distribution gap to the cointegration approach to understanding the relationship between human capital, technology, and economic growth. Human capital is inherent in humans and becomes capital in providing the best performance that has an impact on their own income. We use the human capital framework in this study where education is one mechanism to increase human capital. Based on the results of our estimation, we find that the increase in human capital using the education mechanism affects economic growth. This shows the role of human capital investment is very important in economic growth. Technology shows a significant positive effect on economic growth. Increasing human resources and technology are important factors in efforts to increase economic growth in Indonesia. Educational development is the key to the success of increasing human capital and technological development because education plays a role in improving the quality of human resources. Increasing human resources here is in the form of increased knowledge, mastery of technology, innovation, and the ability to develop technology to encourage technology development.

Interactions between beef salt-soluble proteins and elephant foot yam (Amorphophallus campanulatus) flour in heat-induced gel matrix development

        ( Eny Sri Widyastuti ),( Djalal Rosyidi ),( Lilik Eka Radiati ),( Purwadi Purwadi ) 한국축산학회(구 한국동물자원과학회) 2020 한국축산학회지 Vol.62 No.4

The objective of this study was to observe the interactions between salt-soluble proteins extracted from beef and elephant foot yam (Amorphophallus campanulatus) flour in heat-induced gel matrix development. The effect of salt concentration; 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2.0% in weight/weight basis (w/w), during protein extraction on pH, salt-soluble protein concentration and myofibril fractions of beef extract was determined firstly, and no significant effect was found. The beef salt-soluble proteins extracted using salt solution at different concentrations were then added with elephant foot yam flour at 5%, 10%, and 15% w/w, gelatinized at 90℃ for 20 min, and cooled down at 4℃ for 12 h. The interactions between beef salt-soluble proteins and elephant foot yam flour resulted in an improved gel strength (p < 0.01) and the addition level of elephant foot yam flour affected the pH, instrumental color, moisture, crude protein, and ash content significantly. The addition of elephant foot yam flour also reduced the size of the pores in the gel matrix as shown by scanning electron microscope (SEM) photographs. These suggest that elephant foot yam flour well interacts with beef salt-soluble proteins to form gel matrix.

Premature Ejaculation and Endocrine Disorders: A Literature Review

Enis Rauf Coskuner,Burak Ozkan 대한남성과학회 2022 The World Journal of Men's Health Vol.40 No.1

Premature ejaculation (PE) is the most common male sexual dysfunction, with 30% of men experiencing PE worldwide. According to the generally accepted classification, there are two types of PE: lifetime PE and acquired PE. Various biological and psychological causes are known to be involved in the etiology of PE. However, due to the incomplete definition and etiopathogenesis of PE, there is no effective treatment. Although clinical and animal studies indicate that hormones play a role in controlling the ejaculation process, the precise endocrine mechanisms are unclear. In addition, little is known about the role of endocrine disorders in PE etiology. However, there is evidence that diabetes mellitus (DM), obesity, metabolic syndrome (MetS), thyroid gland disorders, pituitary gland disorders, and vitamin D deficiency affect the prevalence of PE. Moreover, it has been reported that the prevalence of PE decreases with treatment of these endocrine disorders. In this review, the relationship between PE and DM, MetS, obesity, vitamin D deficiency, and thyroid and pituitary gland disorders is summarized.

Fossil didemnid ascidian spicule records in the Plio-Quaternary marine clastics of the Antalya basin (Eastern Mediterranean) and their stratigraphic calibration to new nannofossil data

Enis Kemal Sagular 한국지질과학협의회 2009 Geosciences Journal Vol.13 No.2

Although their existence in sedimentary rocks is rarely referred to in previous studies, fossil didemnid ascidian spicules were encountered in the rock samples of the Late Pliocene-Early Pleistocene marine clastics located in the Antalya Basin (Southern Turkey). Some ascidian spicules were identified in investigations of mudstone and sandstone rock samples from the Geceleme and Karpuzcay formations, from outcroppings around the Manavgat-Oymapinar and Antalya-Akseki Roads. These samples represent a clastic sedimentation belonging to a coastal or shelf area, and identified spicules include Monniotia cf. fasciculata, Micrascidites vulgaris Deflandre & Deflandre-Rigaud, Bonetia brevis Varol & Houghton, Bonetia truncata Varol & Houghton, and Rigaudia multiradiata Varol & Houghton. With the inclusion of abundant evidence of reworking of Early Pliocene, Early Miocene, Early-Mid Eocene, and Late Cretaceous deposits, nannofossil assemblages of these rock samples are probably indexed to the NN15–NN19 nannofossil zones. According to newly identified nannofossil data, it is concluded that these spicules were remnants of the Late Pliocene didemnids living on the southwest Anatolian shelf of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Team resilience in multiple project environments: What characteristics should be explored?

Yuli Eni,Mohammad Ichsan,Ahmad Syamil,Bambang Trigunarsyah People & Global Business Association 2024 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.29 No.5

Purpose: This paper aims to explore how project team members' resilience differs based on industry type, project budget, company type, and gender. Design/methodology/approach: Using the conservation of resources theory, this study focuses on exploring the insight of the gathered data from the perspective of descriptive statistics. To achieve this objective, a descriptive analysis was conducted using purposive sampling and snowball techniques, gathering data from 349 respondents. The collected data was analyzed using IBM SPSS software version 25. Findings: The study's results indicate that male respondents are dominant, primarily working in the construction industry, while female respondents tend to work in other industry sectors. Moreover, male respondents exhibited higher resilience scores, but no significant difference in resilience was observed based on gender. However, resil-ience levels varied according to the industry sector. Respondents from industries other than the construction sector tended to display higher resilience. Research limitations/implications: Considering that the study finds only minor variations, businesses in the same industrial sector might think about implementing a practice benchmark. Examining businesses outside of these im-portant industries, however, may provide difficulties. Subsequent data-gathering endeavors may be broadened to encompass more industry sectors and subsequently scrutinized via case studies utilizing smaller samples from certain sectors. Originality/value: This study reveals that it is important to further expand and investigate these insights. Resources for team resilience, such as team confidence, a roadmap for teamwork, the ability to improvise as a team, and psychological safety for the team, can be added to future research. Furthermore, it is crucial to do quantitative research to look at how these elements show up in various industry sectors.
