Redesign and Implementation of Big Fan Impellers for Enhancing Its Efficiency

Prihadi Setyo Darmanto,Arief Syahlan,Michael Ariefyanto Wibowo 한국유체기계학회 2022 International journal of fluid machinery and syste Vol.15 No.2

This paper presents the effort on bi g fan efficiency enhancement by the modification of impeller geometry especially blades angles and radius while maintaining the other parameters such as casing geometry , entry and exit diameters, rotational speed, number of blades, flow rate, and static pr essure matching to the field requirement including existing installation. The combination of numerical calculation based on the semi empiric formulas and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is used as the methodology. Two big fans, A and B which are widely used in the cement industry with nominal flow capacities of 300 000 and 5 67,50 0 m 3 /h and having static pressures of 4 000 and 12 ,2 00 Pa, were used as case studies. Theoretical performance comparison between original and modified fan design geometries as w ell as field measurements were also conducted in this study. The results show that modified geometry design c an increase up to 4.53% of fan efficiency which contribute to reduce shaft absorbed power up to 50 kW for fan A and 130 kW for fan B respectively.

Work-Rest Schedules for Hand Tractor Field Operation with Hand-Transmitted Vibration Exposure Limitation

        Ubaidillah Ubaidillah,Lutfi Musthofa,Darmanto Darmanto,Perdana Lita Puspita R. 한국농업기계학회 2023 바이오시스템공학 Vol.48 No.4

Purpose The hand tractors produce hand-transmitted vibration, a significant occupational hazard for hand tractor operators. The present study aims to characterize the hand-transmitted vibration of hand tractors under various engine rotational speeds (1400 rpm, 1700 rpm, and 2000 rpm) and soil implements (moldboard plow, rotary harrow, and leveler) and develop work-rest schedules for hand tractor operations. Methods The study involved field experiments in soil wet preparation and soil dry preparation operations to measure the vibration acceleration at the handle grip and the operator’s physiological cost of work. The data was then analyzed to obtain the maximum allowable time based on the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) limits and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) calculations. Results The results showed that vibration acceleration was significantly affected by engine rotational speed and the soil implement used. The vibration acceleration was highest on the x-axis, followed by the z- and y-axis. The maximum allowable time was 3 h/day/operator and 2.5 h/day/operator and divided into four and five work bouts with 45 min and 30 min each for wet and dry soil preparation, respectively. The heart rate data indicated that at least 15 min of rest should be given in between work bouts, with an additional 30 min and 15 min of free time for each wet and dry soil operation, respectively. Conclusions Based on this research, a work-rest schedule was designed for two hand tractor operators who work alternately to minimize hand-arm vibration syndrome.

Exploring the Role of Media in Remote Acculturation of the Korean Wave in Indonesia

        Salismi Zulfi Maulidita,Darmanto Darmanto,Weni Laysa Nilma 사단법인 한국융합기술연구학회 2024 아시아태평양융합연구교류논문지 Vol.10 No.2

As globalization consistently increases cultural interaction, acculturation extends beyond traditional immigration scenarios. A significant concept is identified—remote acculturation—which highlights the role of media as a primary facilitator. This study delves into the role of media in the remote acculturation process within the context of the Korean Wave in Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative research design to analyze data in-depth that has been obtained from secondary sources compiled by previous studies, official documents online, information from mass media, and social media. The results of this study revealed that (1) television and radio played pivotal roles in facilitating the remote acculturation conditions during phases 1.0 and 2.0 of the Korean Wave, (2) streaming media and social network services emerged as additional facilitators in phases 3.0 and 4.0, and (3) in the orientation process, the Korean Wave successfully integrated with Indonesian culture. Further, the remote acculturation of the Korean Wave in Indonesia is a successful phenomenon, facilitated by various media. This study provided important insights for academics, policymakers, and media practitioners seeking to comprehend the impact of media on remote acculturation processes. Its significance lies in the scarcity of research addressing remote acculturation, particularly regarding the Korean wave as a central phenomenon in this process. Consequently, this research has the potential to contribute to the advancement of cross-cultural understanding globally.
