Influencer Marketing: Factors Influencing A Customer’s Purchase Intention

Ahnaf Chowdhury NILOY(Ahnaf Chowdhury NILOY ),Jawad Bin ALAM(Jawad Bin ALAM ),Md. Shah ALOM(Md. Shah ALOM ) 한국유통과학회 2023 Asian Journal of Business Environment (AJBE) Vol.13 No.1

Purpose: The study analyzes the impact of attitudes toward food influencers on consumer purchase intention. It also aims to identify factors affecting consumers’ attitudes toward food influencers. Research design, data and methodology: Based on the responses collected from 500 randomly selected consumers, the study analyzes the relationship based on the factors of influencer marketing. The authors test the conceptual model using multivariate linear regression analysis after validating the internal consistency of the data using Cronbach’s Alpha reliability test and exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Results: The study finds that purchase intention is positively correlated and significantly impacted by the attitude towards influencer. The study further finds that attitude towards influencer is positively correlated and significantly impacted by source attractiveness, product match up, and source familiarity. However, source credibility is found to be an insignificant construct impacting attitude towards influencer. Conclusions: The study gives a guided solution to marketers and brand practitioners about the importance of influencer marketing in the food industry and its effectiveness in generating purchase intention. The present paper bridges a gap pertaining to antecedents and factors that impact attitudes toward food influencers and consumer purchase intention. To the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first of its kind to investigate the impact of attitudes toward influencers on purchase intention in the food industry.

Corporate Governance and Bank Performance during COVID-19: Evidence from Bangladesh

Md Masud CHOWDHURY(Md Masud CHOWDHURY ) 한국유통과학회 2023 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.10 No.2

The radical Coronavirus (COVID-19) has swiftly unfolded everywhere globally; it continues to unfold uncontrollably and critically, affecting all economies. The pandemic is not only a health issue but also has distinct effects on the global economy and enterprises. The impact of this novel Coronavirus is also well-documented in the financial sector. This study aims to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on corporate governance and banks’ financial performance. Moreover, this study also examines the impact of corporate governance on banks’ performance in Bangladesh. The study uses return on equity, return on assets, non-performing loans, return on investment, and earnings per share to measure the performance of the banks. And characteristics of corporate governance are measured by board size, number of independent directors on the board, number of female directors on the board, number of board meetings, and number of members in the audit committee. The study uses descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, t-test, and panel regression analysis. The study finds that COVID-19 significantly impacts the banks’ performance and some corporate governance characteristics. The study also reveals that corporate governance significantly impacts the financial performance of commercial banks. The findings of this study suggest that banks should concentrate more on corporate governance.

      • Supplementation of lycopene in maturation media improves bovine embryo quality in vitro

        Chowdhury, M.M.R.,Choi, B.H.,Khan, I.,Lee, K.L.,Mesalam, A.,Song, S.H.,Xu, L.,Joo, M.D.,Afrin, F.,Kong, I.K. Butterworths, etc ; Elsevier Science Ltd 2017 Theriogenology Vol.103 No.-

This study sought to modulate factors that reduce embryo quality in in vitro culture (IVC) systems. Over eight replicates, 3075 oocytes were cultured in in vitro maturation media containing various concentrations of lycopene, followed by in vitro fertilization and culture. The percentages of MII-stage oocytes, the presumptive zygotes that underwent cleavage and developed into blastocysts were significantly (P < 0.05) higher, the intracellular ROS concentrations reduced significantly (P < 0.05) in oocytes/blastocysts, TUNEL assay demonstrates reduced apoptosis and increased total cell number per blastocyst (P < 0.05), Immunocytochemistry confirmed that diminished protein expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2), and 8-oxoguanine (indicated by ROS) and relative mRNA expression of the Caspase-3, NFκB, COX2, iNOS and BCL2-associated X (BAX) was significantly (P < 0.05) lower whereas the anti-apoptotic gene BCL2 was significantly (P < 0.05) higher in the 0.2 μM lycopene-supplemented group than the control. In conclusion, lycopene improves blastocyst quality by overcoming unfavorable conditions in in vitro culture systems.

The Effect of Conventional Bank's Interest Rate & Islamic Bank's Profit Rate on Investment & Return: An Empirical Investigation in Bangladesh

Chowdhury, Mohammad Ashraful Ferdous,Rahman, Syed Mohammad Khaled KNU The Institute of Management Economy Research 2014 Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Vol.5 No.1

Since depositors are motivated by returns, it is important for Islamic banks management to understand the extent that rates of return on deposits influence their customers' decision to deposit. The main objective of the study is to explore the degree of influence of conventional bank's interest rate on Islamic bank's profitability and vice-versa. It has been seen from 2005 to 2011 that the rate of interest declared on deposit by conventional banks has a negative impact on profitability of both types of banks in Bangladesh. Rate of profit declared on deposit by Islamic banks is positively related with their profit earned but negatively related with profit earned by conventional banks. We see that rate of interest declared on deposit by Conventional Banks is positively related with their deposit volume but negatively related with Islamic Bank's deposit. On the other hand, rate of profit declared on deposit by Islamic Banks is negatively related with deposit levels of both types of banks. The survey result shows that almost 85% of the respondents are choosing Islamic banks only from their religious point of view and more than 60% of the sampled Islamic bank customers are reluctant to leave the bank even if conventional banks offer better interest rates.

        Chowdhury, M. S.,Ashrafuzzaman, K.,Kwak, K. S. IET 2014 Electronics letters Vol.50 No.5

The IEEE 802.15.6 standard for wireless body area network (WBAN) includes a slotted Aloha based protocol as an option for contention based medium access control. This protocol is different from the long studied classical version in that it has inherent considerations for certain priorities of users. An analytical model is presented for saturation throughput with this protocol in a network that is heterogeneous in user priorities. The model is validated against simulation.

Manure Based Duckweed Production in Shallow Sink : Effect of Genera on Biomass and Nutrient Yield of Duckweed under the Same Nutritional and Management Conditions

        Chowdhury, S.A.,Sultana, N.,Huque, K.S.,Huque, Q.M.E. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2000 Animal Bioscience Vol.13 No.5

Biomass yield, nutritive value and nutrient utilization efficiency of different genera of duckweed (DW, Lemnaceae) under the same nutritional and management conditions were studied. Three genera of DW namely: Lemna perpusilla, Spirodela polyrhiza and Woljfia arrhiza, were cultivated in 18 plastic sinks each of $59{\times}54{\times}35cm^3$ size. Each sink contained approximately 80 L of water and was charged once with 6.648 kg of anaerobically fermented cow dung effluent. The seed rate for Spirodela, Lemna and Wolffia were 600, 400 and $600g/m^2$ respectively. Duckweed were harvested at 48 hours intervals. Media total N concentration for Lemna and Wolffia gradually increased with time. Growth of duckweed was measured by subtracting the inoculum from the total biomass production. Growth of Spirodela ceased within 4 days but Lemna and Wolffia continue to grow up to 34 days. Bio-mass yield was significantly (p<0.05) higher in Wolffia (906 kg/ha/d) than Lemna (631 kg/ha/d). Dry matter (DM) yield was very similar in Lemna (14.80 kg/ha/d) and Wolffia (14.57 kg/ha/d). The N content was non-significant higher in Lemna (5.45%) than Wolffia (5.00%) and Spirodela (4.6%). The crude protein (CP, $N{\times}6.25$) yield was non-significantly higher in Lemna (4.83 kg/ha/d) than Wolffia (4.32 kg/ha/d). The acid detergent fibre (ADF) content was the highest in Wolffia (28.59%), followed by Spirodela (19.47%) and Lemna (12.39%). Utilization efficiency of CP was 273 and 314% respectively for Wolffia and Lemna. However, similar efficiency values for Spirodela was only 1.5%. Considering the bio-mass yield, nutritive value and nutrient utilization efficiency, production performance of DW were in the order of Lemna>Wolffia>Spirodela under the present experimental conditions.

      • ViNEYard: Virtual Network Embedding Algorithms With Coordinated Node and Link Mapping

        Chowdhury, Mosharaf,Rahman, M. R.,Boutaba, R. IEEE 2012 IEEE/ACM transactions on networking Vol.20 No.1

Network virtualization allows multiple heterogeneous virtual networks (VNs) to coexist on a shared infrastructure. Efficient mapping of virtual nodes and virtual links of a VN request onto substrate network resources, also known as the VN embedding problem, is the first step toward enabling such multiplicity. Since this problem is known to be NP-hard, previous research focused on designing heuristic-based algorithms that had clear separation between the node mapping and the link mapping phases. In this paper, we present ViNEYard-a collection of VN embedding algorithms that leverage better coordination between the two phases. We formulate the VN embedding problem as a mixed integer program through substrate network augmentation. We then relax the integer constraints to obtain a linear program and devise two online VN embedding algorithms D-ViNE and R-ViNE using deterministic and randomized rounding techniques, respectively. We also present a generalized window-based VN embedding algorithm (WiNE) to evaluate the effect of lookahead on VN embedding. Our simulation experiments on a large mix of VN requests show that the proposed algorithms increase the acceptance ratio and the revenue while decreasing the cost incurred by the substrate network in the long run.

A Study of Heliospheric Modulation and Periodicities of Galactic Cosmic Rays During Cycle 24

        Chowdhury, P.,Kudela, K.,Moon, Y. J. D. Reidel Pub. Co 2016 Solar physics Vol.291 No.2

Galactic cosmic rays (GCRs) are energetic, charged particles coming from outside the solar system. These particles encounter an outward-moving turbulent solar wind with cyclic magnetic-field fluctuations when entering the heliosphere. This causes convection and diffusion in the heliosphere. The GCR counts detected by the ground-based neutron-monitor stations show intensity changes with a fluctuation of similar to aEuro parts per thousand 11 years and are anti-correlated with the sunspot numbers with some time lags. GCRs experience various types of modulation from different solar activity features and are important components of space weather. The previous solar cycle, Cycle 23, has shown anomalous behavior with a prolonged deep minimum, which was characterized by a record-setting high Galactic cosmic-ray flux observed at Earth. Solar Cycle 24 started much later than expected and progressed sluggishly toward its maxima. In this paper, we study the heliospheric modulation and intermediate-term periodicities of GCRs during the ascending phase of Cycle 24. We utilize simultaneous solar, interplanetary plasma, magnetic field, and geomagnetic activity data including the tilt angle of the heliospheric current sheet, and we study their relation with GCRs. The wavelet power spectrum of GCRs exhibits the presence of a variety of prominent short- and mid-term periodicities including the well-known Rieger and quasi-biennial periodicities. Possible explanations of the observed results are discussed in the light of numerical models.
