<P>Herein, a facile aqueous method was used to prepare multiscale honeycomb-structured activated carbon from mandarin peels using KOH and NaOH as activation agents, and the prepared multiscale honeycomb-structured activated carbon was carbonized under a nitrogen and argon atmosphere. All samples possessed nitrogen due to its natural abundance and exhibited enhanced specific capacitance, whereas metallic sodium (Na)-intercalated samples, which were formed due to NaOH activation, showed large pore size with increased intercalation capacitance although their surface area was reduced. Potassium has been additionally intercalated during cycling in a KOH solution and helped to sustain the micro/mesoporous honeycomb structure as well as increased the number of O-CO bonds with a concomitant reduction in the number of C-C and CC bonds. The honeycomb carbon retains up to 98% of its initial capacitance even after 7000 cycles. The presence of multiscale porosity in the interconnected carbon network structure enhances the reversible adsorption/desorption of ions in the Helmholtz double layer and hence results in high storage capacity and rate capability of the supercapacitors. The highest energy density of 10.92 W h kg<SUP>−1</SUP> at the power density of 240 W kg<SUP>−1</SUP> has been achieved and maintained up to 7.06 W h kg<SUP>−1</SUP> at the higher power density of 1740 W kg<SUP>−1</SUP>. A detailed kinetic study has been employed to better understand the specific capacitance contribution in symmetrical supercapacitors.</P>
User clustering and robust beamforming design in multicell MIMO-NOMA system for 5G communications

In this paper, we present a robust beamforming design to tackle the weighted sum-rate maximization (WSRM) problem in a multicell multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) - non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) downlink system for 5G wireless communications. This work consider the imperfect channel state information (CSI) at the base station (BS) by adding uncertainties to channel estimation matrices as the worst-case model i.e., singular value uncertainty model (SVUM). With this observation, the WSRM problem is formulated subject to the transmit power constraints at the BS. The objective problem is known as non-deterministic polynomial (NP) problem which is difficult to solve. We propose an robust beamforming design which establishes on majorization minimization (MM) technique to find the optimal transmit beamforming matrix, as well as efficiently solve the objective problem. In addition, we also propose a joint user clustering and power allocation (JUCPA) algorithm in which the best user pair is selected as a cluster to attain a higher sum-rate. Extensive numerical results are provided to show that the proposed robust beamforming design together with the proposed JUCPA algorithm significantly increases the performance in term of sum-rate as compared with the existing NOMA schemes and the conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme.

Objective: To evaluate disease-free sur vival (DFS) and overall sur vival (OS) associated withadjuvant carboplatin and paclitaxel chemotherapy interposed with radiation for advancedendometrial cancer. Methods: This is a cohort study of adult women with stage III or IV endometrial cancertreated at a single institution, between April 2002 and October 2017. Tumor and treatmentcharacteristics were recorded. Treatment consisted of 4 cycles of intravenous paclitaxeland carboplatin ever y 3 weeks, followed by external beam radiotherapy to the pelvis (45–50Gy), and another 2 cycles of chemotherapy. One cohort of patients were prospectivelyenrolled from 2002 through 2006 and an additional cohort from 2007 to 2017, which wasretrospectively analyzed. Primar y endpoints for this study were DFS and OS rates which werecalculated using Cox regression models. Results: Eighty-two patients with a median age of 66.5 years (range, 35–83 years) wereincluded. Median follow-up was 46 months (range, 9–196 months). Most patients had stageIIIC disease (62.2%) and serous carcinoma histology (46.3%). Median OS was 146 monthsand median DFS was 71 months. A 5-year OS and DFS were 64.9% and 55.7%, respectively. Age >60 years subgroup was at a significantly higher risk of DFS event or death. Histologicalsubtype, location of positive nodes, and cancer stage (IIIa vs. higher stage) did not correlateto a higher risk of recurrence or death. Conclusion: Long term follow-up and a larger population confirm that the chemoradiotherapysandwich method yields favorable outcomes in patients with high-risk endometrial cancer.
