Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are a diverse family of homo- or heteropentameric ligand-gated ion channels. Understanding the physiological role of each nAChR subtype and the key residues responsible for normal and pathological states is important. α-Conotoxin neuropeptides are highly selective probes capable of discriminating different subtypes of nAChRs. In this study, we performed homology modeling to generate the neuronal α3, β2 and β4 subunits using the x-ray structure of the α1 subunit as a template. The structures of the extracellular domains containing ligand binding sites in the α3β2 and α3β4 nAChR subtypes were constructed using MD simulations and ligand docking processes in their free and ligand- bound states using α-conotoxin GIC, which exhibited the highest α3β2 vs. α3β4 discrimination ratio. The results provide a reasonable structural basis for such a discriminatory ability, supporting the idea that the present strategy can be used for future investigations on nAChR-ligand complexes. Distribution of chigger mites and Orientia tsutsugamushi in Seogwipo city at 2017
Che Wook Lee,Kyu Kye Hwang 한국예방수의학회 2018 예방수의학회지 Vol.42 No.2
The distribution of chiggers and Orientia tsutsugamushi, were investigated at five sites in Seogwipo, Jeju Province in 2017. To accomplish this, 100 Sherman traps were installed to collect the larva of mites from 28 wild rodents and analyze them in April, October and November. A total of 2,560 chiggers were collected, among which 1,283 underwent inspection for Orientia tsutsugamushi and 1,277 were found to contain the organism. Leptotrombidium zetum accounted for 517 of the 1,277 species, or 40.5% of the total, making it the dominant species. Other major species included Leptotrombidium scutellare, which were found in 432 (33.8%) samples, Neotrombicula nagayoi, which was found in 141 (5.5%) samples, and Leptotrombidium orientale, which was found in 72 (2.8%) samples. The majority of the species collected in April were Leptotrombidium zetum, but in fall, the majority were Leptotrombidium scutellare and Leptotrombidium zetum. Additionally, Leptotrombidium scutellare was mainly collected during fall. Analysis of the 1,283 collected chiggers for Orientia tsutsugamushi by, PCR revealed that they were all negative.

Development of 5 D.O.F Robot Hand for an Android robot
Dongwoon Che,HyunSub Park,Dong-Wook Lee,Jun-Young Jung,Ho-Gil Lee 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
In this paper, we propose 5 D.O.F robot hand for an android robot. A robot hand is the most complicated part in robot and it required many functions like grasping, detailed motion and so on. An android robot is one of humanoid robot but it required more similar appearance than one of humanoid robot thus, a hand of an android robot is required human like shape more than a hand of humanoid robot. The hand of android needs human like shape and complication, therefore it is difficult to develop a hand of an android robot. In this research, we develop a hand of an android robot which has 5 D.O.F fingers, human like shape and skin. Each finger has link structure driven by DC motor and worm gear. The finger is designed independent module structure so, hand is only combination of finger modules. This module structure gives small size, easy modification and convenience of maintenance. The skin is made of silicon complex material and it designed based on real human hand. The size of this hand based on standard size of Korean woman.

Abstract

We synthetized and investigated the anti-leukemic potential of the novel cytostatic bis(4-hydroxycoumarin) derivative OT-55 which complied with the Lipinski's rule of 5 and induced differential toxicity in various chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) cell models. OT-55 triggered ER stress leading to canonical, caspase-dependent apoptosis and release of danger associated molecular patterns. Consequently, OT-55 promoted phagocytosis of OT-55-treated CML cells by both murine and human monocyte-derived macrophages. Viridans group streptococci are a serious health concern because most of these bacteria cause life-threatening infections, especially in immunocompromised and hospitalized individuals. We focused on two alpha-hemolytic Streptococcus strains (I-G2 and I-P16) newly isolated from an ileostomy effluent of a colorectal cancer patient. We examined their pathogenic potential by investigating their prevalence in human and assessing their pathogenicity in a mouse model. We also predicted their virulence factors and pathogenic features by using comparative genomic analysis and in vitro tests. Using polyphasic and systematic approaches, we identified the isolates as belonging to a novel Streptococcus species and designated it as Streptococcus ilei. Metagenomic survey based on taxonomic assignment of datasets from the Human Microbiome Project revealed that S. ilei is present in most human population and at various body sites but is especially abundant in the oral cavity. Intraperitoneal injection of S. ilei was lethal to otherwise healthy C57BL/6J mice. Pathogenomics and in vitro assays revealed that S. ilei possesses a unique set of virulence factors. In agreement with the in vivo and in vitro data, which indicated that S. ilei strain I-G2 is more pathogenic than strain I-P16, only the former displayed the streptococcal group A antigen. We here newly identified S. ilei sp. nov., and described its prevalence in human, virulence factors, and pathogenicity. This will help to prevent S. ilei strain misidentification in the future, and improve the understanding and management of streptococcal infections.
