An Efficient Line-Search Algorithm for Unbiased Recursive Least-Squares Filtering With Noisy Inputs

<P>This letter proposes a new algorithm for efficiently finding an unbiased RLS estimate of FIR models with noisy inputs. The unbiased estimate is obtained without knowing any a priori information via a new cost. Furthermore, to reduce computational complexity, the estimate is updated along the current input-vector direction and the corresponding gain is efficiently computed. In addition, to increase the convergence rate, the algorithm is extended to update the estimate along not only current but also past input-vector directions. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm exhibits a fast convergence rate and an enhanced tracking performance with noisy correlated inputs.</P>
Memory-Enhancing Effects of Silk Fibroin-Derived Peptides in Scopolamine-Treated Mice

Although enzyme-hydrolyzed silk fibroin has been reported to enhance cognitive function before, it has been still unknown which peptides can improve memory. Here we report that amino acid sequences of three novel peptides were identified from fibroin hydrolysate. Fibroin hydrolysate was obtained by hydrolysis with protease after partial hydrolysis with 5M $CaCl_2$. Synthesized peptides derived from these sequences improved scopolamine-induced memory impairments in mice. We confirmed this hydrolysate had effects that improved learning and memory abilities by performing the Rey-Kim test. From this hydrolysate of silk fibroin, amino acid sequences of eight peptides were identified by LC-MS/MS. Three peptides (GAGAGTGSSGFGPY, GAGAGSGAGSGAGAGSGAGAGY, and SGAGSGAGAGSGAGAGSGA) were synthesized to investigate whether they could improve memory. Passive avoidance test and Morris water maze test were performed, and all peptides showed memory-enhancing abilities on scopolamine-induced memory impairments in mice. In this study, we identified three novel peptides that could improve memory, and that silk fibroin hydrolysate was a mixture of various active peptides that could enhance memory.

Multipotent adult stem cells (MASCs) derived from Pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) have found widespread use in various applications, including regenerative therapy and drug screening. For these applications, highly pluripotent stem cells need to be selectively separated from those that show low pluripotency, and adult stem cells need to be collected for further application. Although fluorescent activated cell sorting (FACS) and magnetic activated cell sorting (MACS) are commonly used, these methods suffer from limitations namely low throughput efficiency and low purity, respectively. In this study, we developed immunomagnetic microfluidic integrated system (IM-MIS) for separation of stem cells depending on potency level. A mixture of PSCs and MSCs were used to demonstrate separation efficacy of IM-MIS. Compared to FACS, IM-MIS was found to be more efficient and rapid method with better throughput capabilities. Moreover, separation using IM-MIS was more accurate than that done using MACS. Furthermore, IM-MIS did not affect the key characteristics of stem cells including its potency, phenotype, genotype, and karyotype. IM-MIS may offer a new platform for the development of multi-separation systems for diverse stem cell applications.
Edge shape effect on the glass strength

In this study, the edge shape effect on the impact and bending strength of glass sheet was carefully investigated by using edgeimpact test (EIT) and 4-point bending (4PB) test. The Weibull data obtained from EIT showed that round shape was moreresistance to impact test regardless of the tilted stage angle and the strength values were in the order of round shape, bevelshape, and cut shape. When it comes to the bending strength, it was insensitive to the edge shape unlike the impact strength. Fracture analysis proved that the origins were located around the grinned surface and the breakage behavior of round shapewas different those of bevel and cut shape. The mirror strength was calculated by the means of measuring the mirror radius,and the relationship compared to the tensile stress was discussed in detail.
그래픽 비밀번호를 활용한 공인인증서 개인키 보호방법에 관한 연구

전자서명법에 근간을 두고 있는 공인인증서는 경제활동 인구의 95%이상이 사용함에 따라 일상생활과 밀접한 관계가 되었고 최근 보안강도 256bit 수준의 암호체계 고도화로 인해 안전성과 신뢰성에 큰 향상이 기대된다. 공개키 기반구조(PKI)를 바탕으로 하는 공인인증서는 보안성에서 큰 문제가 없는 것으로 알려져 왔지만 공인인증서 유출 시 비밀번호 검출 공격에 대한 위협이 존재한다. 기존 연구에서 이러한 취약점을 보완하기 위하여 비밀번호 대체수단 제공, 공인인증서 저장 매체 확대, 복수 인증방식 등과 같은 다양한 해결방안을 제시하였다. 이러한 방법은 공인인증서의 사용에 대한 보완적 기능을 수행하지만, 비밀번호의 안정성을 보장해주지는 못하는 한계점을 가진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 비밀번호의 안전성을 높이기 위한 방법으로 비밀번호의 보안강도를 증가시키는 방안을 제시한다. 이에 따라 공인인증서의 관리 보안성과 사용 편리성의 향상이 가능하다. 이 연구는 공인인증서의 보안성 향상과 활용에 관한 기술 개발 및 향후 연구에 활용될 수 있다. A digital certificate mandated by the Electronic Signature Act has become familiar in our daily lives as 95% of the economically active population hold certificates. Due to upgrades to 256 bit level security that have become effective recently, the security and reliability of digital certificates are expected to increase. Digital certificates based on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) have been known as no big problem, but the possibility of password exposure in cases of leaked digital certificates still exists. To minimize this vulnerability, various existing studies have introduced alternative password methods, expansion of certificate storage media, and multiple certification methods. These methods perform enhanced functions but also have limitations including the fact that the secureness of passwords is not guaranteed. This study suggests an alternative method for enhancing the level of password secureness as a way to improve password security. This new method improves security management and enhances the convenience of using digital technologies. The results may be used for developing digital certificate related security technologies and research in the future.

The CSC-based HVDC system links the Jeju system to the mainland system. Because CSC-based HVDC is installed in Jeju, the reactive power is needed to transfer active power through the HVDC. In order to supply reactive power, switched capacitors and synchronous condensers are installed in Jeju system. The deterioration of established synchronous condensers, however, causes a reactive power supply capability decline and high maintenance cost. It brings about the instability of Jeju system and the incremental of maintenance and repair costs. In the future the installation of wind generators and additional HVDC system would aggravate the stability of Jeju system. Therefore, it needs to consider a countermeasure against above problems. In this paper, Analysis of several contingencies of Jeju system was performed, and some contingencies caused voltage-reactive power problem was known. CPF method was introduced in order to make countermeasures to replace the synchronous condensers and to solve the voltage-reactive power problem. The location and capacity of reactive power sources were also decided. It could guarantee medium and long term stability of Jeju system.
