Background: Many developing countries are lagging behind in reporting epidemiological data for individual central nervous system (CNS) tumors. This paper aimed to elicit patterns for the epidemiology of individual World Health Organization (WHO) classified CNS tumors in countries registered by WHO as "developing". Materials and Methods: Cyber search was carried out through 66 cancer networks/registries and 181 PubMed published papers that reported counts of CNS tumors for the period of 2009-2012. The relationship between the natural log of incidence Age Standardized Rate (ASR) reported by Globocan and Latitude/ Longitude was investigated. Results: Registries for 21 countries displayed information related to CNS tumors. In contrast tends for classified CNS tumor cases were identified for 38 countries via 181 PubMed publications. Extracted data showed a majority of unclassified reported cases [PubMed (38 countries, 45.7%), registries (21 countries, 96.1%)]. For classified tumors, astrocytic tumors were the most frequently reported type [PubMed (38 countries, 1,245 cases, 15.7%), registries (21 countries, 627 cases, 1.99%]. A significant linear regression relationship emerged between latitudes and reported cases of CNS tumors. Conclusions: Previously unreported trends of frequencies for individually classified CNS tumors were elucidated and a possible link of CNS tumors occurrence with geographical location emerged.
Visualizing the phenotype diversity: a case study of Alexander disease
Dohi, Eisuke,Bangash, Ali Haider Korea Genome Organization 2021 Genomics & informatics Vol.19 No.3
Since only a small number of patients have a rare disease, it is difficult to identify all of the features of these diseases. This is especially true for patients uncommonly presenting with rare diseases. It can also be difficult for the patient, their families, and even clinicians to know which one of a number of disease phenotypes the patient is exhibiting. To address this issue, during Biomedical Linked Annotation Hackathon 7 (BLAH7), we tried to extract Alexander disease patient data in Portable Document Format. We then visualized the phenotypic diversity of those Alexander disease patients with uncommon presentations. This led to us identifying several issues that we need to overcome in our future work.

This study was conducted to determine whether there is a significant relationship between board structure and board committee qualities and corporate cash holdings in Pakistan. For this objective, 168 listed enterprises on the PSX for the period 2016 to 2020 were chosen as a sample from a population of 436 non-financial firms. Multiple regression analysis was used in the study to discover a relationship between board structure and board committee features and cash holdings. The study’s findings revealed that board size, executive directors, and board independence have no significant impact on the firm’s cash holding because they play no important part in the firm’s cash holding. Auditors, audit committee size, audit committee meetings, and the compensation committee, on the other hand, have no major impact on the firm’s cash holdings because they are not relevant indicators to compare with cash holdings. While board meeting frequency and leadership structure both have a negative influence on cash holding, board meeting frequency increases firm costs, whereas leadership structure causes agency problems. Results were supported by the pecking order theory, cash flow theory, and agency theory.
Fiscal Causal Hypotheses and Panel Cointegration Analysis for Sustainable Economic Growth in ASEAN
MARIMUTHU, Maran,KHAN, Hanana,BANGASH, Romana Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.2
This study aims to examine the causal links between the fiscal components, i.e., government expenditures (GE) and government revenues (GR), and their impact on the economic growth of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. This analysis considered secondary panel data from 1990 to 2019 at an annual frequency. The data is obtained from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank Database. A panel cointegration and panel DH causality (Dumitrescu and Hurlin) approach was employed on financial data at an annual frequency from 1990 to 2019. The findings from panel unit root and panel cointegration tests demonstrate that, at first, all the variables are stationary and cointegrated. The panel ARDL disclosed that GE has a long-run connection with GDP, is significantly and positively associated with economic growth in the long run, whereas GR is significant in the short run. The contribution of GE is high in sustaining economic growth as compared to GR. Also, cointegration regression disclosed that GE is more sensitive toward GDP, while GR is less elastic. Lastly, the findings reveal that bidirectional causality exists between GE and GR variables. These results have policy implications for sustainable economic growth in the ASEAN region.

Backgrounds/Aims: Post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) is a serious complication following liver resection, with limited treatment options, and is associated with high mortality. There is a need to evaluate the role of systems that support the function of the liver after PHLF. Aims: The aim of this study was to review the literature and summarize the role of liver support systems (LSS) in the management of PHLF. Publications of interest were identified using systematically designed searches. Following screening, data from the relevant publications was extracted, and pooled where possible. Findings: Systematic review identified nine studies, which used either Plasma Exchange (PE) or Molecular Adsorbent Recirculating System (MARS) as LSS after PHLF. Across all studies, the pooled 90-day mortality rate was 38% (95% CI: 9-70%). However, there was substantial heterogeneity, likely since studies used a variety of definitions for PHLF, and had different selection criteria for patient eligibility for LSS treatment. Conclusions: The current evidence is insufficient to recommend LSS for the routine management of severe PHLF, with the current literature consisting of only a limited number of studies. There is a definite need for larger, multicenter, prospective studies, evaluating the conventional and newer modalities of support systems, with a view to improve the outcomes in this group of patients.
BOUNDS OF AN INTEGRAL OPERATOR FOR CONVEX FUNCTIONS AND RESULTS IN FRACTIONAL CALCULUS
Mishira, Lakshmi Narayan,Farid, Ghulam,Bangash, Babar Khan The Honam Mathematical Society 2020 호남수학학술지 Vol.42 No.2
The present research investigates the bounds of an integral operator for convex functions and a differentiable function f such that |f'| is convex. Further, these bounds of integral operators specifically produce estimations of various classical fractional and recently defined conformable integral operators. These results also contain bounds of Hadamard type for symmetric convex functions.
COVID-19 recommender system based on an annotated multilingual corpus
Barros, Marcia,Ruas, Pedro,Sousa, Diana,Bangash, Ali Haider,Couto, Francisco M. Korea Genome Organization 2021 Genomics & informatics Vol.19 No.3
Tracking the most recent advances in Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related research is essential, given the disease's novelty and its impact on society. However, with the publication pace speeding up, researchers and clinicians require automatic approaches to keep up with the incoming information regarding this disease. A solution to this problem requires the development of text mining pipelines; the efficiency of which strongly depends on the availability of curated corpora. However, there is a lack of COVID-19-related corpora, even more, if considering other languages besides English. This project's main contribution was the annotation of a multilingual parallel corpus and the generation of a recommendation dataset (EN-PT and EN-ES) regarding relevant entities, their relations, and recommendation, providing this resource to the community to improve the text mining research on COVID-19-related literature. This work was developed during the 7th Biomedical Linked Annotation Hackathon (BLAH7).
