The Role of Training and Absorptive Capacity in Mediating Human Capital Dimensions and Organizational Performance: Evidence from Pakistan

Sana Arz BHUTTO,Yasir JAMAL,Asim RAFIQ,Kashif MEHMOOD,Munir HUSSAIN,Amjad ALI 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.12

This study aims to examine the role of training and absorptive capacity as a mediator to examine the impact of human capital dimensions on the performance of an organization. This study employs the quantitative approach for analysis. A sample of 208 respondents was collected from the textile factories based in Karachi and Faisalabad. Data was analyzed using the PLS-SEM technique. PLS-SEM algorithm was used to check the validity and reliability of the data. PLS-SEM bootstrapping was used for studying the impact. The results show that the skills have an insignificant impact on organizational performance. Education and skills have an insignificant indirect impact on the performance of an organization. The research findings show that the human capital dimensions are full and partially mediated via absorptive capacity and training. The findings revealed that if we implement one by one dimension of human capital then it will not cause any increase in the organization’s performance but if we implement all dimensions then it results in optimal performance. Thus, this study suggests adopting effective training techniques and creating absorptive capacity in an organization to increase the performance of an organization. The findings of this study significantly contribute to the existing body of knowledge.

Does Brand Love Precede Brand Loyalty? Empirical Evidence from Saudi Airline Customers in Strategic Alliance Setting

SOOMRO, Yasir Ali,BHUTTO, Muhammad Yaseen,ERTZ, Myriam,SHAIKH, Ahsan-ul-Haq,BAESHEN, Yasser,Al BATATI, Bader Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.6

This research aims to construct a model that combines brand love, brand loyalty, brand image, customer satisfaction, and service quality into a single model, with brand loyalty coming foremost, and test its predictive power in building brand love. Moreover, mediating effect of customer satisfaction and brand image on service quality and brand loyalty affecting brand love was checked. The study adopted an alliance context using an existing SERVQUAL model, a bi-dimensional aspect of brand loyalty and parasocial love relationship theory, to identify brand love as a construct or outcome in the consumer-brand relationship. Using a quantitative approach, survey questionnaires were distributed by unrestricted random sampling among 507 Saudia Airlines customers. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 3.0. The results revealed significant relationships between four variables except for the brand image. It was found that brand image had no mediating effect on the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty. The outcome of this study highlights the importance of airline alliances for service quality, which leads to positive customer satisfaction, brand image, and customer loyalty. A unique contribution of the study is that it revealed that brand loyalty is also an antecedent of brand love.

Parametric study of pyrolysis and steam gasification of rice straw in presence of K2CO3

        Humair Ahmed Baloch,Abdul Waheed Bhutto,Tianhua Yang,Haipeng Sun,Jie Li,Sabzoi Nizamuddin,Rundong Li,Zhanguo Kou,Yang Sun 한국화학공학회 2016 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.33 No.9

A parametric study of pyrolysis and steam gasification of rice straw (RS) was performed to investigate the effect of the presence of K2CO3 on the behavior of gas evolution, gas component distribution, pyrolysis/gasification reactivity, the quality and volume of synthetic gas. During pyrolysis, with the increase in K2CO3 content in RS (i) the instantaneous CO2 concentration was increased while CO concentration was relatively stable; (ii) the yield of CO2 and H2 increased on the cost of CH4. During steam gasification of RS, with the increase in K2CO3 content in RS (i) the instantaneous concentration of CO2 and H2 increased while instantaneous concentration of CO and CH4 decreased; (ii) the yield of CO2 and H2 production and total yield increased; and (iii) yield of CO and CH4 production followed the order: 9% K2CO3 RS<6% K2CO3 RS<raw RS<3% K2CO3 RS<water-leached RS. Water-leached RS showed the highest pyrolysis reactivity, while stream gasification reactivity was proportional to K2CO3 content in RS. The results of this study reveal that the presence of K2CO3 during pyrolysis and steam gasification of RS effectively improves production of H2 rich gas.

On the basis of fabrication, the utilization of nano material in numerous industrial and technological system, obtained the utmost significance in current decade. Therefore, the current investigation presents a theoretical disposition regarding the flow of electric conducting Williamson nanoliquid over a stretchable surface in the presence of the motile microorganism. The impact of thermal radiation and magnetic parameter are incorporated in the energy equation. The concentration field is modified by adding the influence of chemical reaction. Moreover, the splendid features of nanofluid are displayed by utilizing the thermophoresis and Brownian motion aspects. Compatible similarity transformation is imposed on the equations governing the problem to derive the dimensionless ordinary differential equations. The Homotopy analysis method has been implemented to find the analytic solution of the obtained differential equations. The implications of specific parameters on profiles of velocity, temperature, concentration and motile microorganism density are investigated graphically. Moreover, coefficient of skin friction, Nusselt number, Sherwood number and density of motile number are clarified in tabular forms. It is revealed that thermal radiation, thermophoresis and Brownian motion parameters are very effective for improvement of heat transfer. The reported investigation can be used in improving the heat transfer appliances and systems of solar energy.

Hydrothermal carbonization of oil palm shell

Sabzoi Nizamuddin,Natesan Subramanian Jayakumar,Jaya Narayan Sahu,Poobalan Ganesan,Abdul Waheed Bhutto,Nabisab Mujawar Mubarak 한국화학공학회 2015 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.32 No.9

Palm shell is one of the most plentiful wastes of the palm oil mill industry. This study identifies the capability of hydrothermal carbonization process (HTC) to convert palm shell into high energy hydrochar. The influence of reaction time and reaction temperature of the HTC process was investigated. The process parameters selected were temperature 200 oC to 240 oC, time 10 to 60min, and water to biomass ratio was fixed at 10 : 1 by weight %. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), elemental, proximate, Burner Emmett and Teller (BET), thermo-gravimetric (TGA) analyses were performed to characterize the product and the feed. The heating value (HHV) was increased from 12.24 MJ/ kg (raw palm shell) to 22.11 MJ/kg (hydrochar produced at 240 oC and 60 min). The hydrochar yield exhibited a higher degree inverse proportionality with temperature and reaction time. Elemental analysis revealed an increase in carbon percentage and a proportional decrease in hydrogen and oxygen contents which caused higher value of HHV. The dehydration and decarboxylation reactions take place at higher temperatures during HTC resulting in the increase of carbon and decrease in oxygen values of hydrochar. The FESEM results reveal that the structure of raw palm shell was decomposed by HTC process. The pores on the surface of hydrochar increased as compared to the raw palm shell.

      • Innovative method to prepare a stable emulsion liquid membrane for high CO2 absorption and its performance evaluation for a natural gas feed in a rotating disk contactor

Bhatti, Inamullah,Qureshi, Khadija,Kamarudin, Khairul Sozana Nor,Bazmi, Aqeel Ahmed,Bhutto, Abdul Waheed,Ahmad, Faizan,Lee, Moonyong Elsevier 2016 Journal of natural gas science and engineering Vol.34 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper presents an innovative method to prepare a stable emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) for high CO2 absorption in a natural gas feed. This new method achieved high throughput at low power consumption. The ELM prepared using this new method was characterized by determining the effects of the concentration of the ELM constituents, emulsification time, and speed on the emulsion droplet size (EDS) and stability. This was followed by a parametric study of the process parameters for CO2 separation from natural gas in a rotating disk contactor (RDC)-based setup to evaluate the performance of a stable ELM. The results suggest that the retention time of the stable ELM in a RDC increases with increasing amount of absorbed CO2. The results support the fundamental development of the ELM process to achieve a high overall separation efficiency of CO2 removal from natural gas with a relatively small contact time. This is the first parametric study of CO2 absorption from a gas stream in ELM using a RDC as the contracting equipment. The results of the parametric study suggested that the factors of time, TEA concentration and RDC speed have significant effect on the CO2 absorption from natural gas feed. It was identified that 4% TEA in ELM, 30 min operational time and 700 rpm speed of modified RDC system is suitable for maximum CO2 absorption from gas mixture of CO2/CH4. Furthermore, the study suggested that the ELM containing 4% TEA can absorb 5.6 kmol/m3 CO2.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Preparation and characterization of stable emulsion liquid membrane (ELM). </LI> <LI> Parametric study of CO2 absorption from natural gas in rotating disk contactor (RDC). </LI> <LI> Retention time of the stable ELM increases with increasing amount of absorbed CO2. </LI> <LI> Fundamental development of ELM process for high overall separation efficiency. </LI> </UL> </P>

Yasir Ali SOOMRO,Yasser BAESHEN,Fozan ALFARSHOUTY,Sana Abbas KAIMKHANI,Muhammad Yaseen BHUTTO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.4

This study is an empirical investigation of the effectiveness of guerrilla-marketing techniques in creating a positive brand image among generation Y (millennial) consumers. Five guerrilla techniques practiced by companies—such as viral marketing (EWOM), stealth marketing, ambush, graffiti, and clickbait ads—were studied, and hypotheses were proposed. This study adopted a quantitative approach and a questionnaire using the non-probability sampling technique was developed to collect data and self-administered to 248 millennial respondents on various university campuses. The data collected were analyzed through structured modeling on AMOS. The findings of this research revealed that guerrilla marketing affects symbolic and experiential brand image. Further, the results revealed that stealth marketing, graffiti, and click bait advertising were found to be influential on both symbolic and experiential brand images. As an exception, the hypotheses for ambush marketing were found to have no significant influence on the brand image (symbolic and experiential). Moreover, ambush technique in campaigns may have a negative impact on the brand image. Conversely, the study found that clickbait ads had a significantly negative influence on experiential brand image. Consequently, the results of this study strengthen past findings and concluded that guerrilla marketing techniques are beneficial communication tools in the limited marketing budgets.
