Aqueous processing of nickel spent catalyst for a value added product

Nickel was recovered from a fertilizer industry spent catalyst by leaching with nitric acid followed by nickel hydroxide precipitation. The optimization of temperature, initial acid concentration and particle size for leaching of the spent catalyst was done through 23 factorial design. A maximum extraction of 91.9% was achieved at 90 oC, 1.5M HNO3 and 62.5 μm particle size. Temperature and acid concentration showed positive effect, while particle size showed no effect. A regression equation was developed and employed to predict conditions for 100% extraction which were experimentally tested. Nickel hydroxide was electrochemically precipitated from the leach liquor and its maximum discharge capacity was found to be 155 mAh/g. A 3-stage counter current leaching circuit was designed to obtain a leach liquor of suitable pH. XRD characterization of the precipitated Ni(OH)2 shows to consist of both α- and β-forms.
Experimental Results on Kinematic Calibration of Parallel Manipulator using 6 DOF Measurement Device

This paper presents kinematic calibration of parallel manipulators with partial pose measurements using a device that measures a rotation of the end-effector along with its position. The device contains an LVDT, a biaxial inclinometer, and a rotary sensor and facilitates automation of the measurement procedure. The device is designed in a modular fashion and links of different lengths can be used. The additional kinematic parameters required for the measurement device are discussed, kinematic relations are derived, and cost function is established to perform calibration with the proposed device. The study is performed for a six degree-of-freedom(DOF) fully parallel HexaSlide Mechanism(HSM). Experimental results show significant improvement in the accuracy of the HSM.
Calibration of Parallel Manipulators using a New Measurement Device

Kinematic calibration is a process whereby the actual values of geometric parameters are estimated so as<br/> to minimize the error in absolute positioning. Measuring all components of Cartesian posture, particularly the<br/> orientation, can be difficult. With partial pose measurements, all parameters may not be identifiable. This<br/> paper proposes a new device that can be used to identify all kinematic parameters with partial pose<br/> measurements. Study is performed for a six degree-of-freedom fully parallel Hexa Slide manipulator. The<br/> device, however, is general and can be used for other parallel manipulators. The proposed device consists of a<br/> link with U joints on both sides and is equipped with a rotary sensor and a biaxial inclinometer. When<br/> attached between the base and the mobile platform, the device restricts the end-effector’s motion to five<br/> degree-of-freedom and can measure position of the end-effector and one of its rotations. Numerical analyses<br/> of the identification Jacobian reveal that all parameters are identifiable. Computer simulations show that the<br/> identification is robust for the errors in the initial guess and the measurement noise.

Here in, we demonstrate facile fabrication of silver and palladium nanoparticles in dual responsive poly(Nisopropylacrylamide- co-2-Acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid) microgel with temperature- and pH-dependent catalytic potential. Palladium-based catalyst showed better catalytic efficiency as compared to silver-based catalyst for degradation of Rhodamine-B and P-Nitrophenol in aqueous medium under the same set of reaction conditions. The responsive nature of the microgel was found to be useful to tune the catalytic activity of the as-prepared catalysts, and reduction rate was enhanced with the pH and temperature elevation of the reaction medium; however, the increasing trend was slowed in the volume phase transition region of the microgel. Under a specific set of reaction conditions, the reduction of Rhodamine-B was as fast as 0.968 and 0.571 min1 when catalyzed with palladium and silver based catalysts, respectively. The hydrodynamic radius of the particles of microgel support was found to be in the range of 65- 180 nm when pH and temperature of the medium were varied in the range of 2-12 and 25-45, respectively. The estimated diameter of silver and palladium nanoparticles fabricated in the microgel support under the same set of reaction conditions was 9-15 and 7-11 nm, respectively.

Recently there has been an increase in interest and competition in sharing economy platforms. The success stories of many companies have spread in this field, such as Uber, but on the other hand, there are many other companies that have failed. We studied and analyzed the factors that affect the user's participation in the sharing economy platforms as an essential part of this system, and how to maintain the consumer's intention of use without compromising consumer satisfaction, as it has become an issue of great importance on the path to the success of the sharing platforms. Relying on the expanded valence framework and expectation confirmation theory as a basis, we constructed hypotheses that influence intention to participate in participatory platforms. Results show that system quality, trust, perceived benefits, and satisfaction are important factors that positively influence intention to continue to participate. This research is expected to help researchers move forward with research related to the future and help business managers understand user insights and integrate them with their business model to help the success, development and expansion of their business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A RECURRENCE RELATION FOR THE JONES POLYNOMIAL

Using a simple recurrence relation, we give a new method to compute the Jones polynomials of closed braids: we find a general expan- sion formula and a rational generating function for the Jones polynomials. The method is used to estimate the degree of the Jones polynomials for some families of braids and to obtain general qualitative results.
