Eco-friendly management of citrus nematode (Tylenchulus semipenetrans) using ozone, copper sulphate and calcium sulphate and its impact on productivity of lemon trees

        Mahmoud Abdel-Sattar,Sandy E. Hammad 한국원예학회 2022 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.63 No.6

Safety concerns necessitate the search for alternative ecologically friendly methods of pest management while simultaneously increasing productivity. From this point of view, a fi eld experiment on Eureka Lemon ( Citrus limon L) trees was undertaken with the goal of reducing the usage of nematicides and enhancing lemon tree productivity. In this study, ozone was used either alone or in combination with copper sulphate or calcium sulphate to control the citrus nematode, Tylenchulus semipen- etrans . The single treatments of the three compounds and the combined applications signifi cantly aff ected T. semipenetrans infection, enhanced the nutritional status of lemon trees and increased fruit set and yield. The combined applications were more eff ective than the individual ones, with ozone + calcium sulphate yielding the maximum values of fruit physical (fruit volume, length, diameter and weight) and chemical (TSS, the TSS/acidity ratio and Vitamin C) characteristics while reducing the acidity. There were no signifi cant diff erences in the impact on citrus nematode between the combined applications and ozone treatment. The application of ozone + copper sulphate signifi cantly reduced the fi nal nematode populations and the reproduction factor. Thus, ozone + calcium sulphate and ozone + copper sulphate are potential alternatives to nematicides for managing citrus nematodes and increasing the yield and quality of Eureka lemon trees.

Fibrin Sealant and Lipoabdominoplasty in Obese Grade 1 and 2 Patients

Amr Abdel Wahab Mabrouk,Hesham Aly Helal,Soha Fathy Al Mekkawy,Nada Abdel Sattar Mahmoud,Ahmed Mohamed Abdel-Salam 대한성형외과학회 2013 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.40 No.5

Background Ever since lipoabdominoplasty was first developed to achieve better aesthetic outcomes and less morbidity, the rate of seroma formation, especially in obese patients, has disturbed plastic surgeons. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of fibrin sealant in the prevention of seroma formation after lipoabdominoplasty in obese patients. Methods Sixty patients with a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 39.9 were assigned randomly to 1 of 2 groups (30 patients each). Group A underwent lipoabdominoplasty with fibrin glue, while group B underwent traditional lipoabdominoplasty; both had closed suction drainage applied to the abdomen. The patients’ demographics and postoperative complications were recorded. Seroma was detected using abdominal ultrasound examinations at two postoperative periods: between postoperative days 10 and 12 and, between postoperative days 18and 21. Results The age range was 31 to 55 years (38.5±9.5 years) in group A and 25 to 58 years (37.8±9.1 years) in group B, while the mean BMI was 31.4 to 39.9 kg/m2 (32.6 kg/m2) in group A and 32.7 to 37.4 kg/m2 (31.5 kg/m2) in group B. In group A, the patients had a complication rate of 10% in group A versus 43% in group B (P<0.05). The incidence of seroma formation was 3% in the fibrin glue group but 37% in the lipoabdominoplasty-alone group (P<0.05). Conclusions Lipoabdominoplasty with the use of autologous fibrin sealant is a very effective method that significantly reduces the rate of postoperative seroma.

        Iridoids from Teucrium yemense

Essam, Abdel-Sattar The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 1998 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.21 No.6

The aerial parts of Teucrium yemense yielded two iridoid glycosides. Their structures were elucidated by spectral means as teucardosid and 8-O-acetylharpagid.

        FUZZY INTERIOR SPACES

        Ramadan, A.A.,Abdel-Sattar, M.A.,Kim, Yong-Chan Korean Mathematical Society 2002 대한수학회보 Vol.39 No.4

In this paper, we study some properties of fuzzy interior spaces. Also, we investigate the relations between fuzzy interior spaces and fuzzy topological spaces. In particular, we prove the existence of product fuzzy topological spaces and product fuzzy interior spaces. We investigate the relations between them.

Cardenolides and β-Sitosterol Glucoside from Pergularia tomentosa L.

        Ahmed A. Gohar,M. M. El Olemy,Essam Abdel Sattar,M. El Said,M. Niwa 한국생약학회 2000 Natural Product Sciences Vol.6 No.3

The aerial parts of Pergularia tomentosa L. afforded three cardenolides, desglucouzarin, coroglaucigenin and uzarigenin, in addition to β-sitosterol glucoside. The isolated compounds were identified by physical and spectral means, including IR, UV, [α]_D 1D-, 2D-NMR and FAB-MS experiments. The cardenolides, ghalakinoside, calactin and pergularoside previously reported from roots, were also identified in the aerial parts.
