Effect of electrode covering on the mechanical properties of high tension steel weld has been investigated with domestic covered electrodes and prepared electrodes with various ingredients. Fluxing materials in the heavily covered electrode give the arc considerable stability, help to float out impurities from within the molten puddle, and develop inert gases which keep the outer surfaces of the molten weld from oxidizing. An addition of 1∼2% graphite in the electrode covering increases strength of the weld metal resulting from carburizing effect, whereas a larger amount of graphite (3∼5%C) makes it brittle causing CO gas blow hole formation. Excess amount of manganese in the covering materials may cause harmful effect, forming fish eye. Addition of iron also results in strength increment and gives the arc stability. Molybdenum produces superior strength and appearance of the weld metal and gives better weldability. It is, therefore, suggested that an addition of ferro-molybdenum to the covering materials would help to produce sound weld for high tension steel.

모나자이트 精鑛을 黃酸으로 分解하여 얻은 溶液에서 第一아민 "Primene JM-T"를 가지고 토륨을 抽出함에 있어 溫度, 兩液相의 比率, 接觸時間, 黃酸溶液의 濃度 等의 影響을 檢討하였다. 또한 抽出한 溶媒에서 不純物을 除去하기 위하여 몇가지 洗滌液을 使用하여 製品의 品位向上을 試圖하였다.

Chemical vapor deposition on the various substrates such as electrolytic iron, carbon steel and stainless steel (STS 304) has been carried out with gaseous mixture of TiCl₄, H₂and N₂in order to study the effect of temperature, composition of reaction gas and gas and gas flow rate on the amount and state of TiN coating. Wear resistance of the TiN coated specimens has also been studied. Better TiN deposition was resulted with gas flow rate of 100/min N₂, 90㎖/min H₂and l.l㎖/hr TiCl₄, and elevated temperature. TiN coated layer of electrolytic iron was superior, followed by carbon steel and stainless steel. Wear resistance of the TiN coated specimens improved markedly, and that of stainless steel was prominent.
