Laser surface hardening technologies have been used to improve characteristics of wear and to enhance the fatigue for mold materials. The objective of this research work is to investigate the influence of the process parameters, such as power of laser and focus position, on the characteristics of laser heat treatment for the case of STD11 high carbon steel. In addition, using the heat treatment optical lens and then analyzed of the characteristics of STD11 high carbon steel.

Laser welding of metals has been widely used in industrial parts. The objective of this research works is to investigate the influence of the process parameters, such as the welding for metals with CW Nd:YAG lasers. In order to quantitatively examine the characteristics of the lap welding, the welding quality of the cut section, stain-stress behavior and the hardness of the welded part are investigated. From the results of the investigation, it has show that a good welding quality is 1600~1800W of the laser power, and 1.2~1.6m/min of laser welding speed.
