The latest generation of tram is low-floor design, various nations in europe and japan have developed battery driven hybrid trams that combine battery and wiring. Battery driven tram system is achieved by contactless power supply system, thus system is needed high efficiency, high power and low weight traction motor for maximization of energy efficiency. Research from abroad is still in induction motor(IM) application, and it is not meet the efficiency and the power per unit volume in IPMSM. In this paper, we design compare IM and IPMSM to apply battery driven tram, and then compare these motors. To design the motor, we estimate the loading condition at first. Loading condition includes rolling resistance, air-drag resistance, and slope resistance. Based on the loading condition by estimation, we determine the power and compute rated voltage and rated current. In this paper, voltage is limited by battery voltage level. As a result, volume about IM is 1.98 times bigger than IPMSM under same condition. Even though IPMSM is bigger than IM in power density per volume, we consider more factors for actual application because there are demagnetization of permanent magnet in IPMSM and so on by external environment conditions.

This paper is concerned with winding design in capacitor-run single phase motor. Winding design in single phase induction motor is more complicated than that in three phase induction motor, because of using concentric winding in the single phase. Various winding designs are possible, and accordingly layout of the slot is calculated by formula. And then accurate design of winding is available. Using the design process in this paper, we can get the base model with slot layout and turns of windings of 1.12 ㎾ single phase induction motor, and it is verified by finite element analysis. In this paper, winding design and winding layout of single-phase induction motor using concentric winding are suggested.
고속수송용 권선형 선형 동기 전동기의 파라미터 변화에 따른 특성 분석

This paper describes characteristic analysis of linear synchronous motor (LSM) with variable parameters. Linear motor does not use the mechanical coupling for the rectilinear movement. Therefore, structure of linear motor is simple and robust as compared with the rotary motor [1]-[4]. LSM produces the thrust force by interaction between the magnetic field and armature current. There are two types by field location, short primary type and long primary type. In this paper, long primary type LSM is considered for design and characteristic analysis. For characteristic analysis of LSM, analytic and numerical methods are applied. Analytic method for solving the magnetic field distribution of the analytic model is based on the Maxwell’s equations. Using the characteristic equation and equivalent circuit, we analyze the effect of variation of parameters, and then we validate the result by comparing with numerical method by finite element method (FEM). First of all, we design the LSM for transportation system. In a design step, we analyze the characteristics of LSM and it has influence on design parameters. We also apply the equivalent circuit to analysis and to design. And we compare that dc field winding of long stator type LSM is replaced with permanent magnet. We analyze the effects according to changing shapes of shoe in dc field pole and shapes of permanent magnet. And we analyze thrust force, normal force, and back-emf by changing of material of poles, ratio of pole pitch to slot pitch in the stator, load angle, and so on. In conclusion, we compare the analytic method with numerical method for analyzing the effect by variable parameters. This result will be useful of design and forecast of performance without FEM.

This paper presents the thermal characteristics of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) for traction. In other to be a reliable traction system, electromagnetically and thermally characteristics of IPMSM are derived correctly, First of all, electromagnetic characteristics of the IPMSM at maximum torque and rated speed are calculated for estimating heat sources. Using results of electromagnetic behavior, thermal analysis of IPMSM is derived.
주행 집전계 시험기의 주행 대차용 선형 유도전동기 설계에 관한 연구

This paper presents design process of linear induction motor in dynamic tester for catenary-current collection. To minimize length of rail for dynamic tester for catenary-current collection, accelerating performance of the linear induction motor is very important. So the design process of linear induction motor considered in this paper is different with general design process of linear induction motor, because dynamic tester has three type driving region, as accelerating region, constant speed region, and braking region. Considering accelerating performance of motor, distance and time from starting point to constant speed region were concerned for load condition of motor. Designed linear induction motor was analyzed by 2-dimensional finite element method. Using mechanical dynamics simulation with analysis result of 2-dimensional finite element method and accelerating performance of designed motor was proved.

This paper is analyzed the effect on characteristics of thrust force of linear induction motor(LIM) by arc type tester. Many kinds of tester have a rotational shape because of a finite length of railroad. Whereas effects by using rotational type tester are generally unknown. For reason of that, this paper is analyzed the effect on characteristics by rotational type tester using 2D finite element method(FEM), and then is compared a thrust force between linear type tester and rotational type tester. Analysis model is decided by numerical modeling for fitting the LIM for propulsion system of light rail, and it is changed to proper arc model. And then we analyzed the arc and the linear model. Consequently, arc type tester is not only useful experiment but also efficient simulation method, and small error is occurred between linear and arc model.

This paper presents the thermal modeling and analysis of Line power Start Permanent magnet Motor (LSPM). Thermal analysis of electrical machines is important because temperatures that are consistently too high will reduce the life time of machines and may lead to serious failure. Coefficients of convection are calculated according to the types of operating conditions. And computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique is performed in order to predict thermal characteristic. The results are compared to the test results.
