This report is for considering ventilation system in subway tunnel after PSD(Platform Screen Door) installation. It was planed that PSD will be installed in every subway station until 2010. PSD is for passengers safety, clean environment in platform and energy saving. In the contrast to cleaning effect at subway platform, it is getting used to be contaminated and accumulated by dust in subway tunnel which is particulate matter from subway operation. Contaminated air is coming into subway platform and inside of the train as PSD opens. Also PSD installation leads to a result that natural ventilation system through platform is blocked by PSD. Therefore we suggested active ventilation system with space separator that would be one of the solutions for clean environment in subway tunnel after PSD installation.

The miniaturization of electrostatic precipitator is becoming a key element to the success of the efficient electrostatic precipitator due to the limited space allowed to install electrostatic precipitator in subway tunnel. Therefore, the miniaturization of rapping system in electrostatic precipitator is also important. This research proposes a resonant-type electromagnetic vibration exciter for vibrating rapper of electrostatic precipitator. Collected dust is removed by a compact size of vibrating rapper from collecting plates, not by imposing direct impact to the dust collecting plates. Moreover, to analyze the acceleration when the number of collecting plates increased from one to four, we manufactured a prototype. Additionally, we analyzed a prototype of resonant frequency using ANSYS, and we measured the acceleration at the resonant frequency.

A novel two-stage wet ESP has been developed using a non-metallic carbon brush precharger and collection plates with a thin water film. The electrical and particle collection performance was evaluated using submicron particles by varying the voltages to the precharger and the collection plates. The experimental results show that the wet ESP using 7 L/min/㎡ of water that uses carbon brush precharger charged particles with approximately 10% particle loss, while producing concentration of ozone less than 30 ppb, which is significantly lower than the current limits of the international agencies, and achieved a high collection performance of average 90% for ultrafine particles, based on the number concentration at 3-5 ㎧ through the precharger and 1 ㎧ through the collection plates.

Nowadays, a research on electrostatic precipitator in urban railroad equipment technology is under an active study. More and more, its miniaturization is becoming a key element to the success of the efficient electrostatic precipitator due to the limited space allowed to install electrostatic precipitator in subway stations. Therefore, there is an increasing need for replacing dry rapping system used with a hammer, which is the most pervasive method to clean electrostatic precipitators. This research proposes vibrating rapper for cleaning electrostatic precipitator using electromagnetic linear actuator. Collected dust is removed by vibrating actuator from collecting plates and discharge electrodes, not by imposing direct impacts to the dust collecting plates.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze and design a new hybrid electromagnetic linear actuator for linear pumps. Solenoid linear actuator is widely used because it occupies small space due to no mechanical energy conversion system. In addition, the energy loss is very low and it has no noise. Conventional solenoid linear actuator, however, has the critical drawback of high power consumption. In this research, we present a new hybrid electromagnetic linear actuator using a permanent magnet in order to reduce power consumption. The enhanced performance of the hybrid linear actuator was verified by dynamic finite element analysis.

The miniaturization of electrostatic precipitator is becoming a key element to the success of the efficient electrostatic precipitator due to the limited space allowed to install electrostatic precipitator in subway tunnel. Nowadays, a research on electrostatic precipitator in urban railroad equipment technology is under an active study. Finite element method has been used one of the most popular techniques, but it consumes a lot of time especially in computation iterations. Accordingly, the lumped parameter analysis can be an alternative tool to FEM because of its computation iteration capability with fair accuracy. In this paper, lumped parameter model and the simulation results are presented. In addition, the result of lumped parameter analysis is compared with those obtained from finite element analysis for verification.

Test methods of Korea Air Cleaning Association (KACA) and Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) for particle cleaning capacity performance of an indoor air cleaner were compared in terms of the conditions of the test particle generation, the range of particle measurement and the calculation methods for particle cleaning capacity, and types of the test particles. The performance test was conducted in a 30 ㎥ chamber with the same test specimen and the test particles of each test were generated until the number concentration of 0.3 ㎛ particles reached 2.2 × 108 #/㎥. The performance test results showed that the cleaning capacity with the particles of higher surface area and volume density, regardless of the type of test particles, was higher than with those of lower and the capacity from calculation with 0.3~1 ㎛ particles was higher than with 0.3 ㎛ particles. Moreover, the cleaning capacity with the calculation of KACA method was lower than with that of AHAM method in spite of using the same test specimen.
