Objectives : The purpose of this study is researching for possibility that Moire topography be applied in group school screening for scoliosis known school health problem, and find acceptable method of early detection and early treatment for scoliosis Methods : The authors practiced Moire topography for primary & middle school 1,895 students[male 976, female 919] in Jeonju, korea in 2001. After we distinguished students who had abnormal finding in Moire topography and then re-examined spinal X-ray analysis. The data was analysed and evaluated statistically Results : According to this research, the abnormal finding in Moire topography was 53.7% (1,018 students), and students needed X-ray re-examination were 11.2% (213 students). Students diagnosed scoliosis by X-ray re-examination were 1.8%. According to statistical analysis, interval between vertical base line of pelvis and vertical base line of neck, gap between left distance and right distance to the vertical base line of pelvis and difference of contour lines have strong correlations with deformity degree of the body surface examined by Moire. Conclusions : Following this research, throughout early detection for scoliosis by Moire topography could reduce exposure from scoliosis radiographs, and could detect trunk asymmetry that couldn't be found existing X-ray examination, so it made selecting students under observation who have bad posture possible.
생체외 류마토이드 관절염 실험 모델에서 청열사습탕(淸熱瀉濕湯)의 효과

Objective: This study was designed to understand the mechanism of action of Cheongyeolsaseup-tang(Qingrexieshi-tang) (CYSST) leading to control of mast cells on inflammatory condition like RA. Methods: Viability of cells was evaluated by MTT colorimetric assay for 8 h incubation after stimulation of PMA plus A23187. HMC-1 cells (3×105 cells/㎖) were stimulated for 8 hour incubation with PMA plus A23187, we investigated the effect of CYSST on the production of cytokines by activated human mast cell line HMC-1. Results: When CYSST (1 mg/ml) was added, the production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-6 was significantly inhibited by 37% and 33.6%, respectively in phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate plus calcium ionophore A23187-stimulated HMC-1 cells. RA is an aggressive inflammatory disease in which chemokines are thought to recruit leukocytes and induce angiogenesis. CYSST also inhibited by 48% the production of IL-8 in HMC-1 cells. In addition, CYSST inhibited the expression of Nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) in HMC-1 cells. Conclusions: When CYSST was added, the production of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 was significantly inhibited. These results imply that CYSST has a critical role on the treatment of the bone damage associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
부자반하탕(附子半夏湯) 추출액(抽出液)이 산소자유기(酸素自由基)에 의해 손상(損傷)된 배양척수운동신경세포(培養脊髓運動神經細胞)에 미치는 영향(影響)

Objectives : To evaluate the effect of Bujabanha-tang(Fuzibanxia-tang) water extract on cultured mouse spinal motor neuron which was inhibited by xanthine oxidase/hypoxanthine(XO/HX) Methods and Matrials: induced cytotoxicity, cell viability by the MTT and NR assay and PKC activity, cAMP assay examined after the cultured mouse spinal motor neurons were pre-incubated with various concentrations of Bujabanha-tang(Fuzibanxia-tang) water extract for 3 hours prior to exposure of XO/HX Result : 1. XO/HX, a oxygen radical, decreased the survival rate of the cultured mouse spinal motor neuron cells on NR assay and MTT assay. 2. Bujabanha-tang(Fuzibanxia-tang) have decreasing efficacy of PKC activity increased by XO/HX in cultured mouse spinal motor neuron. 3. Bujabanha-tang(Fuzibanxia-tang) have decreasing efficacy of cAMP amout increased by XO/HX in cultured mouse spinal motor neurons. Conclusions : Bujabanha-tang(Fuzibanxiatang) has marked efficacy as a neuroprotection for the damages caused by XO/HX-mediated oxidative process.
