Model updating is a very active research field, in which significant efforts has been invested in recent years. Model updating methodologies are invariably successful when used on noise-free simulated data, but tend to be unpredictable when presented with real experimental data that are-unavoidably-corrupted with uncorrelated noise content. In this paper, Reanalysis using frequency response functions for correlating and updating dynamic systems is presented. A transformation matrix is obtained from the relationship between the complex and the normal frequency response functions of a structure. The transformation matrix is employed to calculate the modified damping matrix of the system. The modified mass and stiffness matrices are identified from the normal frequency response functions by using the least squares method. Two simulated system are employed to illustrate the applicability of the proposed method. The result indicate that the damping matrix of correlated unite element model can be identified accurately by the proposed method. In addition, the robustness of the new approach uniformly distributed measurement noise is also addressed.

This paper deals with the assessment of load carrying capacity of PSC-beam bridges according to continuity of spans. In this study, several factors which may affect the assessment of load carrying capacity of PSC-beam bridges are studied. These are effect of differential deflection among the girder and methods of finite element modeling. The differential deflection of the girders, which can greatly reduce the negative moments in a deck slab so, tensile stresses of top slab is reduced. Analytical solution and numerical analyses are performed and the results are compared with those of experimental studies for PSC-beam bridge. Based on the results of this study, an improved method is proposed for the assessment of load carrying capacity of PSC-beam bridges according to continuity of spans.

Due to the heterogeneous nature of a concrete, periodic inspections are compulsory to maintenance of quality of concrete structures. The major object of this study is to analyze and investigate experimentally the experimental equation for the estimate of compressive strength of prestressed concrete. In this study, surface hardness method, ultrasonic method are investigated to evaluate strength of concrete specimens. Specimens are cast in laboratory and cores are cut from specimens in order to estimate the accurate strength. These values are used to compare with calculated values from test data. The result shows that the proposed equation can reproduce the results at prestressed concrete beam girders more appropriately than previous equations.

In a previous paper, ambient vibration tests were conducted on a cable stayed bridge with resilient-friction base isolation systems (R-FBI) to extract the dynamic characteristics of the bridge and compare the results with a seismic analysis model. In this paper, a nonlinear seismic analysis model was established for analysis of the bridge to compare the difference in seismic responses between nonlinear time history analysis and multi-mode spectral analysis methods in the seismic design phase of cable supported bridges. Through these studies, it was confirmed that the seismic design procedures of the "Korean Highway Bridge Design Code (Limit State Design) for Cable Supported Bridges" is not suitable for cable supported bridges installed with R-FBI. Therefore, to reflect the actual dynamic characteristics of the R-FBI installed on cable-supported bridges, an improved seismic design procedure is proposed that applies the seismic analysis method differently depending on the seismic isolation effect of the R-FBI for each seismic performance level.
