교외형 프리미엄 아울렛 공간에 나타난 자연요소 특성에 관한 연구

(Background and Purpose) Recently, large-scale premium outlets located in the suburbs have shown a close connection with the characteristic image of the surrounding area. In addition, such outlets have exceeded a pure shopping space and developed in the form of a combination of nature, culture, and entertainment. As a new consumption space for consumers, outlets provide a variety of experiences and become a comprehensive space where people can spend their leisure time. Moreover, the introduction of natural factors adds a natural atmosphere to space users, which not only improves psychological satisfaction but also induces consumers to stay in the space for a long time to promote sales. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics of the natural elements appearing in the suburban premium outlets and propose an ideal plan to utilize the natural elements of the suburban premium outlets. (Method) In this study, a total of five premium outlets located in the Seoul metropolitan area were selected for the study and analyzed. Through theoretical investigations, the study aims to understand the concept of premium outlets and examine the effectiveness and necessity of natural elements as well as draw a checklist focusing on the characteristics of natural elements applied to suburban premium outlets. Five premium outlets selected for research shall be visited in person, and on-site surveys shall be conducted focusing on public spaces. Based on the analysis, the results are aggregated to draw a final conclusion. (Results) The characteristics of the natural elements applied to suburban premium outlets were comfort, functionality, aesthetics and symbolism. According to the checklist, the results of analyzing the characteristics of natural elements applicable to suburban premium outlets show that comfort has the highest rank, followed by functionality, aesthetics, and symbolism. Most of the sites subject to the case are found to use natural elements in major central places where people gather, such as rest areas and walking spaces. However, it is unsatisfactory when it reflects the unique ontology of the premium outlets or connects and expresses the characteristic image of the surrounding area with the image of the premium outlets. Therefore, through natural factors, it is necessary to formulate a symbolic image and personalized plan for premium outlets that will impress users. (Conclusions) The analysis results show that if natural factors are used in suburban premium outlets, it can improve consumers' environmental quality satisfaction, improve visual and psychological satisfaction, and play a positive role. This research aims to grasp the characteristics of the natural elements of the suburban premium outlets; thus, it has limitations. The utilization of natural elements linked to the commercial design of suburban premium outlet spaces or user-centered design is needed for future studies.
