In this work, biodegradable functional biomaterial for sulindac (SLD) recognition are prepared by using chitosan (CHS), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), SLD as the target molecule, sulfosuccinic acid (SSA) as a crosslinker, and glycerol (GL) and citric acid (CA) as plasticizers. CHS-based functional biomaterials were synthesized by using UV curing process and evaluated their physical properties such as tensile strength (TS), elongation at break (%E), swelling behavior (SB) and solubility (S) with UV curing time. The results indicate that the physical properties was improved about 1.2-1.5 times by UV curing. The optimal UV curing time for the preparation of CHS-based functional biomaterials is about 20 min. We investigated the physical properties of the prepared CHS-based functional biomaterial with/without the addition of SLD. In addition, their surface morphology was observed by the scanning electron microscope (SEM). To evaluate the binding characteristics of CHS-based functional biomaterial with/without the addition of SLD, the adsorption-desorption properties of the prepared biomaterials was investigated by equilibrium binding experiment. The results of the evaluation analysis indicate that the prepared high functional biomaterials have the binding site for SLD as the target molecule. The drug release of SLD for the transdermal drug deliverly systems was examined with pH and temperature. In addition, the release of SLD was carried out by using artificial skin. From the results of the artificial skin test, it could be confirmed that the SLD as the target drug was released constantly during 20 days. The results can be applied in medical patches and various fields.
