Heat shrinkage behavior and characteristic change according to various drawing ratio are studied by testing polyethylene terephthalate film. The results are as follows: 1. Heat shrinkage behavior before necking state is corresponded to WLF formula and Arrhenius formula. 2. Heat shrinkage behavior of after necking state is corresponded to Arrhenius formula, but does not coincied with WLF formula. 3. In accordance with increasing draw ratio, transition temperature and density are decreased in before necking state, but those are increased in after necking state.

Heat generation and dissipation of the needle in sewing were investigated in order to improve the trouble due to the frictional heat. The cooling effect by the addition of lubricant and compressed air was also studied. Correlation coefficient between the needle temperature and penetration energy was 0.91, which represent very high correlation. Therefore, it was confirmed that mechanical energy of the friction between the needle and fabrics contributed to the rise of needle temperature. Heat transfer coefficient of the needle increase proportionally with increase of sewing speed and the heat transfer of unit length of the needle also increased. Addition of lubricant to the sewing thread was effective to pvevent heat generation of the needle and breakage of the sewing thread. The cooling method of the compressed air was very effective one, and heat transfer of unit length increased by square root of air velocity.

This investigation aims to evaluate the quality of high bulky domestic acrylic tops by comparison of spinnability and mechanical properties of the yarn with which of foreign acrylic tops. The results are: 1. Domestic acrylic tops are acceptable in breaking strength, uneveness, count variation of the yarn but it shows higher shrinkage variation than foreign products more or less. 2. The adquate spinning limit of 3 denier 8 inch staple is considered 60 in metric count. 3. No significant friction on coefficient difference between domestic and foreign products were found and sharp increase in hydrodynamic friction is shown at the speeds of about 10 m/min.
열융착불직포의 Corona 방전효과에 관한 연구 (I) -표면구조와 물리적 성질-

The effect of corona-discharge treatment on the structure and physical properties of thermally bonded fabrics has been studied with different conditions such as electrical power and treating time. The physical properties investigated were weight loss, tensile strength, reflectance, wettability and drapability. The morphological structure of samples was also observed by using SEM. As the result of this study, the surface structure of corona-treated fabrics showed a considerable change with increasing the electrical power and treating time. It was observed that the increase of surface roughness in thermally bonded fabrics was closely related to physical properties; wettability, reflectance and tensile strength. The weight of corona-treated fabrics has slightly decreased with increasing the electrical power and treating time, but the drapability has improved due to the change of the structural shape affected on the surface roughness of corona-treated fabrics.

Studies are made for the analysis of the fiber distribution in the blended yarn of cotton and polypropylene by statistical methods. This study has the same results as those of others i.e, the thick and short fibers are distributed in the outer side of yarn cross-section, but the differences between the blending ratios of the speciments become significant when the differences in fiber fineness and those of length reach a certain level. Fiber length could be considered as the major factor for the fiber distribution in the yarn cross-section and fiber fineness is the minor.
Pilling Mechanism의 동력학적 Model에 관한 연구

This research has been made to apply the kinetic model similar to the kinetics of consecutive first order reaction to the pilling mechanism. derivation of the theoretical equations estimating each stage, investigation of the validity of this model, and investigation of the relation between the pilling-resistance and the physical properties of fiber have been carried out. The kinetic model is well coincident with the pilling mechanism described by three stages. Parameters characterizing this model are the numbers of initial potential pills such as pillable fuzz, Cfo, and the relative rate constant, K, and these parameters can be calculated from the experimental values. As the tensile stress and the loop stain of single fiber decrease, the pilling-resistance increases because the relative rate constant increases and half wear-off time(HWT) decreases.
