In the fiber reinforced composite field, it is important to develop a hollow circular disk weaving(HCDW) loom for the manufacture of special shaped woven fabrics having axisymmetrical properties. The weaving principle of the HCDW loom is that warp yarns are arranged radially from the center and weft yarns are inserted spirally between the warp yarns. Also, a unique characteristic of HCDW loom is the two-phase shedding motion with circular motion of a cam. In this paper, the weaving mechanism of the newly designed HCDW loom is described and the variation of warp tension during shedding motion is theoretically analyzed. The results have been compared with the experiment by attachment of a warp tension compensator for the determination of optimum weaving condition.

To investigate the weaving mechanism of a hollow circular disk weaving (HCDW) machine, a weft insertion model is established under three assumptions \circled1 warp tension is kept constant in the weaving zone between the guide ring and the weaving point. \circled2 the normal force generated between warp and weft yarn is sustained uniformly in the weaving zone. \circled3 the forces used for crimp formation and yarn cross-sectional deformation can be ignored. In this study, weft yarn tensions and the frictional force between warp and weft yarns are mainly considered to simplify the theoretical approach of the weaving mechanism. Four governing equations have been established from the force and velocity equilibrium under the steady state condition during weaving process, as well as the geometrical relation. By substituting the boundary conditions in the equations, a mathematical expression of weft yarn path in the weaving process of the HCDW loom is derived and finally the weavability of the HCDW loom is evaluated with phenomenological feature.
Statistical Analysis in the Effect of Machine Settings on the Dimensions of Double Knit Fabric

Double knit machines are provided with numerous adjustment features. The suitable machine settings will provide for the reduction of loop distortion. Thus machine settings has great importance for production of double knits. These studies are made to investigate the effects of input tension, dial height, and needle timing on the dimensional and geometrical behaviors of Milano Rib Stitch using the textured polyester yarns.
