This paper investigates the semantic role of the lexical system(lexical field, semantic network, classificational system) in metaphorical expressions. and formalizes the procedure of generation and interpretation of metaphorical expressions. Previous studies on metaphor have been carried out based on the assumption that the concept network plays an important part in the generation and interpretation of metaphorical expressions. But there is no investigation on the linguistic existence of the concept network. In this paper, I explain the operation of the concept network by the operation of the lexical system of the target term and vehicle term. The direction and the expansion of the metaphorical expression is also explained by the operation of the lexical system. And for the explain of the metaphorical relation between the target and vehicle, I suggest the bridge term that is the common modifier or predicate of the target term and vehicle term.

계열적 의미관계의 특성과 연구 목표

The purposes of this study is to examine trends in researches on synonymous and antonymous relations and check the methodologies and goals of researches on paradigmatic semantic relations. Especially it forwarded discussions about the nature of synonymous and antonymous relations, checking the methodology that understands the semantic relations of vocabulary in relation to pragmatic contexts. The discussions can he arranged as follows: While all semantic relations are basically context dependent, the dependency patterns can be divided into "semantic relations by contextual modulation" and "established semantic relations." While "established semantic relations" can he stored in the mental lexicon and used to create new expressions, "semantic relations by contextual modulation" form temporary semantic relations in certain contexts. In such a case, one can set prototypical semantic relations of "established semantic relations" and thus offer cognitive explanations about semantic relations. Such a methodology, however, excludes `semantic relations by contextual adjustment" from discussions about semantic relations since paradigmatic systemicity should he given up the moment "semantic relations by contextual modulation" are applied to the explanations of semantic relations. The dilemma of researches on semantic relations lies in that one should choose the way of clarification through exclusion instead of explanation through inclusion.

근대적 언어관의 전개와 국어정립이라는 과제의 인식 양상: 한국의 특수성을 중심으로

본고는 19세기말부터 1960년대까지의 시기를 대상으로, 이 시기 전개된 근대적 언어관과 국어정립 활동의 상호 영향 관계를 살펴보며, 한국의 국어정립 과정에 나타난 특수성을 설명하는 데 목적이 있다. 이와 관련하여 본고에서 주목한 것은 한국의 국어정립기가 한일병합, 해방, 분단, 한국전쟁 등 역사적 격변으로 점철되었고, 이러한 상황에서 국어정립 활동에 임하는 주체들의 현실 인식과 국어관이 복잡한 양상을 띠었다는 사실이다. 이는 한국의 국어 정립 과정을 부르주아 민족주의자들이 주도하였던 서구의 근대 국민어 수립 과정과 동일시할 수 없다는 것을 의미한다. 이에 본고에서는 근초기 국어 정립 활동과 관련하여 대두된 언어관이 ``일제강점기의 민족어 정립``과 ``남북분단기의 국어 정립`` 과정을 거치며 어떻게 수용되고 배척되고 분화되었는지 살펴보면서, 국어 정립이라는 과제를 수행하는 데에서 나타난 한국적 특수성을 설명하고자 하였다. 2장에서는 근대 초기 형성된 탈중화 의식이 근대민족국가에 대한 기대감 및 국권 상실에 대한 위기의식과 결합하면서 어문민족주의로 이념화되는 양상에 주목하였다. 3장에서는 식민지로 전락한 상황에서 진행된 어문운동의 논리를 살폈다. 어문민족주의에 대한 비판논리를 검토하며 언어관이 다변화하는 양상을 살폈으며, 이 과정에서 마르크스주의 어문학자와 실증주의 어문학자들이 어문정리 활동에 개입하게 된 맥락에 주목하였다. 4장에서는 국어를 재건하는 과정에서 제기된 국어 재건의 논리들을 살펴보면서, 해당 논리의 역사적 맥락에 주목하였다. This study endeavors to explain Korean uniqueness in the modern process of language arrangement by tracing correlations between the modern views of language and the practical activities of Korean establishment from the late 19th century to the 1960s. The study focuses on periods of Korean language establishment, which were marked by major historical events including Japanese Annexation of Korea, liberation, separation, and the Korean War. Subjects involved in the activities of Korean establishment displayed complex patterns of reality perceptions and views of Korean, which suggests that the process of Korean establishment cannot be identified with the modern process of the West`s national language establishment led by bourgeois nationalists. The study set out to examine how the views of language that emerged in relation to the activities of Korean establishment in the early modern days were accepted, excluded, and segmented through the processes of "establishment of national language during Japanese rule" and "establishment of Korean during the division between the two Koreas," to explain the Korean uniqueness observed in the process of p erforming the task o f Korean e stablishment. Chapter 2 focuses on the patterns of escape from Sino-centrism formed in the early modern days, which combined with expectations for a modern national state and a sense of crisis of losing the national rights, which then converted into language nationalism. Chapter 3 examines the patterns of language arrangement activities carried out in the colonized situations and those of views of language being diversified by reviewing the critical logic of language nationalism. In the process, the investigator notes the context in which Marxist and positivist linguists became involved in the activities of language establishment. Chapter 4 investigates the logistics of Korean reconstruction raised in the process of reconstructing Korean, taking notice of the historical context of each piece of logic.

해방 후 국어 의식의 형성과 전개

This study set out to examine the formation and development patterns of consciousness of Korean language after Liberation with a focus on the contexts in which the consciousness of Korean language formed in the early modern times was inherited and changed. The study investigated the development patterns of consciousness of Korean language from Liberation to the early 1950s with the articles published in the academic journals with influences on the Korean education policies those days to figure out the problematic consciousness of the times regarding the language issues objectively and conduct balanced analysis of perspectives that had popular influences. Those journals include Hangeul(Korean Language Society), Eomun(Society of Korean Language and Literature), and Joseon Gyoyuk(Research Society on Education of Joseon). Chapter 2 looked into the conceptualization context of “Korean language” by reviewing the consciousness around the term “Korean language” and the status and roles of Korean language. Chapter 3 examined the consciousness of making Korean language and the scope of Korean language those days by reviewing the consciousness of Korean language expressed in the process of its reconstruction including the controversy over the national language between the abolishment of Chinese characters and the exclusive use of Hangul, the issues of language purification, and the matters of acceptance of loanwords.

[특집. 국어 학습사전의 현황과 전망] : 중학생용 국어 학습사전의 체제와 내용

본고에서는 중학생용 국어 학습사전의 필요성을 제기하고, 이에 부응할 수 있는 사전의 체제와 내용을 제안하였다. 제안의 설득력을 높이기 위해 본고에서는 현행 교육과정의 성취기준과 타 언어권 학습사전의 성과를 검토한 결과를 바탕으로 중학생용 국어 학습사전의 목표와 내용을 구체화했다. 2장에서는 현행 교육과정의 성취기준을 검토하면서 중학생용 국어 학습사전의 편찬 시 특별히 고려해야 할 점이 ‘상황과 의도에 맞는 표현을 구사하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있는 내용’을 포착해 보여주는 것임을 밝혔다. 이에 따라 학습용 국어사전에 제시되는 어휘 지식은 형태, 통사, 의미, 담화(화용)의 네 가지 층위를 포괄하는 것이어야 함을 지적하였다. 그리고 3장에서는 『例解新國語辭典』(三省堂)과 Merriam-Webster``s School Dictionary의 체제와 내용을 분석하였고, 4장에서는 3장의 분석 결과를 바탕으로 ‘상황과 의도에 맞는 표현을 구사하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있는 내용’을 사전에 어떤 방식으로 기술할 것인지를 논의하였다. 4장을 통해 제안한 바를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 거시구조와 관련하여 제안한 바로는 상용한자를 표제어로 등록하는 것, 복합어 표제어를 제한하는 것, 어근 중심으로 표제어를 배열하는 것 등을 들 수 있다. 둘째, 미시구조와 관련하여 제안한 바로는 형태소 분석 정보를 제시하는 것, 문형 틀과 단어 간 선택제약 정보를 제시하는 것, 의미의 확장 원리를 보여줄 수 있게 의미 항목의 배열을 조정하는 것, 뜻풀이와 연관된 교과 정보를 뜻풀이에 표시하는 것, 용례를 복합어, 구, 문장으로 나누어 보이되 교육적으로 가장 적절한 형식으로 가공해 보여주는 것, 뜻풀이 이외에 표현과 참고 정보를 박스 기사 등을 통해 정밀하게 보여주는 것, 백과사전적 정보를 포함하는 표제어를 부록에 목록화하여 보여주는 것, 부록에서 문장부호나 각 교과 영역의 특정 기호들을 설명과 함께 보여주는 것 등을 들 수 있다. This study expresses the need for the use of Korean learner’s dictionaries in middle-schools and proposes a system and the dictionary content suitable for its implementation. In an attempt to increase the persuasive power of the proposal, the study reviews the achievement criteria under the current curriculum and maintains that there should be Korean learner’s dictionaries for middle school students, with more content than a basic Korean dictionary. The study presents specific content for a Korean learner’s dictionary for middle school students, based on the review results of other language learners`` dictionaries. 『Rekai Shinkokugo Jiten 例解新國語辭典』(Sanseido 三省堂) for Japanese and Merriam-Webster``s School Dictionary for English. Based on the discussions in Chapter 2, which review the achievement criteria under the current curriculum, the study shows that identifying and presenting the "content helpful for using expressions according to situations and intentions" should strongly be considered as a feature in the dictionary for Korean learning. Based on that problematic consciousness, the study proposes a system and content for the learners’ Korean dictionary for middle school students. First, it proposes, with regard to a macroscopic structure, that Chinese characters in common use should be registered as headwords, that compound headwords should be restricted, and that root-based headwords should be arranged. Second, it proposes, with regard to a microscopic structure, that information for the analysis of morphemes should be offered, that information about the limited scope of choices between sentence forms and words should be provided, that the arrangement of semantic items should be adjusted to show the expansion principle of meanings, that subject information related to definitions should be included in definitions, that examples should be given by the compounds, phrases, and sentences processed in the most appropriate form in terms of education level, that information about expressions and references in addition to definitions should be displayed in precision through a boxed article, that the headwords containing encyclopedic information should be catalogued and provided in the appendix, and that the appendix should provide punctuation marks and certain signs in each subject area along with explanations.

일제 강점기 조선어 연구의 지향

‘조선말 큰 사전 원고’의 사전화 과정과 사전학적 의의

본고는 최초 국어대사전의 원고, 즉 ‘조선말 큰 사전 원고’를 분석하고, 이 원고의 사전학적 의의를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이러한 목적에 따라 본고에서는 다음과 같은 논의가 이루어졌다. 첫째, ‘조선말 큰 사전 원고’의 조성과 수정 맥락을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 이 원고의 수정 과정을 추적하여 거시구조와 미시구조에 나타난 변화양상을 정리하였다. 셋째, ‘조선말 큰 사전 원고’가 사전으로 출간되기 전까지 사전편찬 방법론에서 어떤 모색이 이루어졌는지를 살펴보았다. 이러한 논의를 통해 ‘조선말 큰 사전 원고’의 수정이 단순히 원고를 다듬고 오류를 정정하는 수준이 아니라, 사전의 구조를 바꾸고 기술 수준을 한 단계 높이는 차원의 수정이었음을 확인하였다. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the manuscript of Joseonmal Keun Sajeon, the first Korean unabridged dictionary, and to clarify the lexicographic significance of this manuscript. Accordingly, the following discussions were made in this paper. First, the context of the composition and revision of this manuscript was examined. Second, by tracking the revision process of this manuscript, the changes in the macro-structure and micro-structure were summarized. Third, based on these discussions, it was examined what kind of search was made in the dictionary compilation methodology before the publication of the dictionary. Through these discussions, it was confirmed that the revision of this manuscript is not simply at the level of correcting errors, but at the level of changing the dictionary structure and raising the technical level to the next level.
