Although Superconducting Power Transformer (SCT) has many advantages over conventional transformer, such as, higher efficiency, lighter in weight, smaller in volume, its development has been hindered by AC loss in the superconducting wire. Recently developed high performance superconducting wires promote the fabrication of the SCT. This paper shows the basic procedure to design a SCT using equivalent circuit parameters. Core type is adopted to reduce the core loss which is the main source of the loss and low efficiency. Design of the primary and the secondary winding, evaluation of core loss, AC loss and efficiency is included in this paper. Rated voltage and power of the SCT are 440/220V and 35KVA, respectively.

In a high speed vehicle, power collection is a difficult task. To avoid the difficulty, a linear generator is used in an attractive type vehicle propelled by a linear synchronous motor (LSM). This study shows characteristics of a linear generator using Fourier series. Resultant air gap flux in the air gap and induced emf in a linear generator coil are shown. Air gap flux is divided into three parts, those are, flux by field winding, armature winding and linear generator winding.

The AC loss is the most important factor in evaluating the overall efficiency of the superconducting machine. The external transverse magnetic field which is applied to the superconducting wire generates the longitudinal magnetic field. It generates the additional losses, whose amount is not negligible. This paper calculates the hysteresis loss, coupling loss and the longitudinal loss. When the twist pitch decreases, AC loss by transverse field decreases, but AC loss by longitudinal field increases. The optimum pitch where the total losses become minimum is given in this paper. Calculation results show that the twist pitch which is currently accepted is proper below 0.5T. If the field is above 0.5T, it is desirable to decrease the twist pitch.

Large fault current is expected in superconducting power system which will be built in the near future. Short-circuit capacity of superconducting machines consisting power system is much lower than that of conventional machines. Therefore superconducting switch is needed to prevent rapid increment of fault current. This paper proposes the non-inductive superconducting switch to speed the switching and calculates inductance by finite element method. Inductance of proposed superconducting switch decreases to order of ?? comparing with that of conventional one.

It is the most important affairs that all universities implements the selection of the freshmen annually, The more a university get a many student obtained the high score in student achievement test(SAT), the more it have the smart and competent students who make a reputation of the university in the future. In the present, the criteria of the selecting the freshmen are the score in student achievement test(SAT) and the higher school records. It is need to test the validity of the criteria whether it is reasonable, or not.. Thus, the purpose of this study was to explore the validity on the criteria, to analyze the relationship the credit with one's hometown and with the pattern of dwelling. It should be consider that it is need to retest on the criteria and to explore a new criteria because it was identified in this study that there are no the relationship the credit in the university with the score in student achievement test(SAT).

This paper describes the magnetic field in the superconducting generator. The field due to field winding and due to armature winding are presented. Wave admittance is introduced to solve the diffusion equation which describes the field excited by the armature winding. The rotor is equipped a damper and a electrothermal shield. Both serve to protect the superconducting rotor from the altemating field which arises from the transient phenomena, such as, fault and from the harmonic field in stator. Characteristics of damper and electro-thermal shield are given in terms of damping ratio and screening ratio, respectively. Comments on the design of damper and electro-thermal shield are made on the basis of this analysis.
