Offspring of 14 sows were used to evaluate the effect of yogurt substituted for creep feed on growth performance, diarrhea score and blood profiles. The piglets of sows were randomly allocated into 1 of 2 treatments (1 treatment separated piglets of 7 sows). The dietary treatments were as followed: CF, creep feed; YG, yogurt. The creep feed and yogurt diets were given from 3 d after piglets were born to the day of weaning (21 d after piglets were born). The body weight and feed consumption were weighed and recorded at d 0, 7, 14, and 21 after piglets were born for calculating average daily gain (ADG) and average daily feed intake (ADFI). At the weaning day, two piglets were randomly chosen from each pen and bled via jugular venipuncture to obtain blood samples for WBC and IgG measurement. All data were subjected to the GLM procedures of SAS (2002) as a randomized complete block design, with pen as the experimental unit. Differences among dietary treatments were separated by Duncan's multiple range test, and P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. No significant difference (P > 0.05) were observed in number of born piglets, weaning pigs, survival rate, body weight of piglets at d 0, 7, 14, and 21, ADG and ADFI. At d 21, piglets fed with creep feed had a higher (P < 0.05) IgG compared with piglets fed with yogurt. No significant difference (P > 0.05) was observed in WBC among treatments at d 21. In conclusion, yogurt substituted for creep feed had no adverse effect on growth performance in lactating piglets.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different fat source feeding on growth performance, visceral organ weight, meat color, excreta microflora and blood profiles in broilers. A total of 768 1-d-old ROSS 308 broilers (mixed gender) with an initial average body weight of 39.68 ± 0.14 g were randomly allotted to 4 treatments with 12 replicate pens per treatment and 16 broilers per pen for 32 days. Dietary treatments were: 1) SBO, basal diet + 5% soybean oil, 2) PF, basal diet + 5% poultry fat, 3) TAL, basal diet + 5% tallow, and 4) LARD, basal diet + 5% lard. During d 1 to 14, broilers fed TAL diet had a higher (P<0.05) body weight gain (BWG) than broilers fed with PF and LARD diets, moreover, broilers fed TAL diet had a higher (P<0.05) feed intake than broilers fed SBO, PF and LARD diets. Overall (d 0-32), BWG in SBO and TAL treatments was greater (P<0.05) than that in LARD treatment. The meat color a<sup>*</sup> (redness) of broilers fed with LARD diet was increased (P<0.05) compared with broilers fed with PF and TAL diets. No difference was observed in visceral organ weight of liver, spleen, bursa of Fabricius, breast muscle, abdominal fat, gizzard and excreta concentrations of Lactobacillus and Escherichia coli. The blood LDL cholesterol concentration in TAL treatment was higher (P<0.05) than that in LARD treatment. In conclusion, broilers supplementation with tallow could improve not only the body weight gain and feed intake but also blood LDL cholesterol concentration. Moreover, broiler fed lard could increase a<sup>*</sup> (radness) of meat color, while the soybean oil supplementation improve body weight gain in broilers.

<br/> The intake system of 4-cycle, 4-cylinder reciprocating engine is investigated the simple model composed of vessel, duct and throttling part. The numerical calculation based on the simulation is performed for the flow phenomena including heat transfer, friction and bend of duct at each part. In the multi-cylinder engine, the volumetric efficiency is increased a little as the junction location is closed to cylinder at the engine speed having maximum volumetric efficiency. The confIguration and dimension of intake system have an influence on the inertia effect by resistance and pressure variation, and the magnitude of that is varied by the engine speed. Thus the volumetric efficiency is correlative to them. The volumetric efficiency is high as the intake valve close is advanced at the low engine speed, and is delayed at high speed.

A conjugate conduction-convection analysis has been made for a plate fin which exchanges heat with its fluid environment by forced convection. The analysis is based on a one-dimensional model for the plate fin whereby the transient heat conduction equation for the fin is solved simultaneously with the conservation equations for mass, momentum, and energy in the fluid boundary layer adjacent to the fin.<br/> The forced convection heat transfer coefficient is not specified in advance but is one of the results of the numerical solutions. Numerical results of the overall heat transfer rate, the local heat transfer coefficient, the local heat flux, the fm efficiency and the fin surface temperature distribution for Pr=O.7 are presented for a wide range of operating conditons.

The problem of laminar mixed convection flowing over a vertical plate fin is analytically studied by onjugate convection-conduction theory. The analysis is based on a first principles approach whereby the heat conduction equation for the fin is solved simultaneously with the conservation equations for mass, momentum and energy in the fluid boundary layer adjacent to the fin. Numerical results are given for various quantities of interest including the local heat transfer coefficient, local heat flux, fin efficiency and temperature distributions of fm under the effects (if Prandtl number, the buoyancy parameter and the convection-conduction parameter. The results of the present numerical solution have been compared with those of the conventional fin theory. It is found that there are some discrepancies in the fin efficiency and the temperature distribution between present method and the conventional fin theory.

The study of unsteady gas exchange processes in the intake and exhaust systems of fourcylinder, four-stroke cycle intemal combustion engine is described in this paper. The calculation model for the intake and exhaust systems is established and solved by the characteristic method for the equations defining these systems. A constant pressure theory is used for modeling branches of intake and exhaust manifolds. The relationship between the volumetric efficiency and the intake, exhaust pressure variation is clarified by simulation of these systems, It is found that the volumetric efficiency mainly depends on the intake pressure during the short period before the intake valve is closed, that the volumetric efficiency is influenced a little by intake chamber volume in the intake and exhaust system.

The performance and emission for the 4-cylinder 4-cycle gasoline engine fueled with me. thanol is predicted in this paper. The model for all the processes is illustrated. It computes the gas pressure, gas temperature and the rate of formation of nitric oxide and carbon monoxide at each crank angle using basic energy equation and reaction kinetic mechanism. The results are obtained at different operating conditions encompassing changes in fuelair equivalence ratio, engine speed, spark timing and compression ratio. The special characteristics of methanol such as high power output and nitric oxide emissions have been truthfully predicted by the model.
