This paper describes a new method for the seamless operation mode transfer of a PCS. The proposed method provides reduced STS turn off time and smooth mode change between current and voltage control of the PCS in case of line fault. The usefulness of the method is verified through simulations.

This paper proposes a new snubber circuit for a diode-clamped 3-level IGBT inverter. The voltage spike at the instant of IGBT turn-off switching can be reduced considerably by the proposed scheme. The operation of the proposed snubber circuit is described and one pole of a 3-level IGBT inverter has been implemented. The simulation and experiment was carried out with 250V dc link voltage and 20A peak load current. The usefulness of the proposed snubber circuit is verified through experimental results.

This paper describes a control method to minimize the filter capacitor of a AC/DC converter for LED driver. The rectified secondary voltage of the transformer has 120㎐ ripple unlike the conventional converter for the LED drive. Therefore, the filter capacitor can be minimized and this provides reduced cost, low switching loss, and long life of the converter.

This paper describes output characteristics analysis of outage and phase jump generator for microgrid. The outage and phase jump can be generated with 3-phase voltage disturbance generator. As soon as the outage occurs the STS(Solid Transfer Switch)s are switched off. At the beginning of the outage the PCS is required to limit the reverse current within the rated PCS output current. In case of phase jump the PCS output voltage phase should be adjusted. The generator output characteristics are analysed through simulation.
