In the present study, numerical simulation has been performed to investigate the flow characteristics around the injecting nozzles which are the key parts of water mist fire suppression system. In the water mist fire suppression system (WMFSS), the fine mist droplets smaller than 1,000μmissued from the water mist nozzles suppress the fire plume by the direct cooling, oxygen displacement and attenuation of thermal radiation. For simulation of flow characteristics, the commercial CFD software, named as CFX and FLUENT, were used with the proper modeling. CFX was applied for analyzing the internal flow and FLUENT was applied for analyzing the external flow of water mist nozzles. The flow characteristics of the water mist nozzle found out in this study could be used for predicting the performance of the water mist nozzles for the fire suppression system.

The numerical simulation has been performed to predict the performance of the fire suppression system for cabin of shipboard enclosure. The present study aims ultimately at finding the optimal parametric conditions of the mist-injecting nozzles using the CFD methods. The open numerical code was used for the present simulation named as FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator). Application has been done to predict the interaction between water mist and fire plume. In this study, the passenger cabin was chosen as simulation space. The computational domains for simulation in the passenger cabin were determined following the fire scenario of IMO rules. The full scale of the flow field is W×L×H=4×3×2.4 m³ with a dead zone of W×L×H=1.22×1.1×2.4 m³. The water mist nozzle is installed in ceiling center of 2.3 m height from the floor, and there are six mattresses and four cushions in the simulation space. The combination patterns of orifices to the main nozzle and the position to install nozzles were chosen as the simulation parameters for design applications. From the present numerical results, the centered-located nozzles having evenly combined orifices were shown as the best performance of fire suppression.

본 논문에서는 교육용 WiMAX 시스템의 소프트웨를 설계, 구현하고자 한다. 구현하는 소프트웨어에서는 기지국과 단말간 채널 액세스 브로드캐스팅 메시지를 구성하고 초기 레인징을 실현을 포함한다. 기지국과 단말의 교육용 초기 레인징 소프트웨어 설계시 프로세서를 PPC405로/Montavister Linux를 운영체제로, 컴파일 및 디버깅을 DevRocket로, 개발언어를 C로 채택한다. 개발한 소프트웨어는 WiMAX장비의 초기 레이징을 위한 RNG-REQ, RNG-RSP MAC 메시지의 디코딩 코드의 개발을 실현하여 복잡하고 어려운 WiMAX의 초기 레인징을 초보자들이 잘 이해하고 응용할 수 있다. In this paper, the educational software of WiMAX system is presented. The software includes initial ranging and hannel access roadcast messaging between a terminal and a base station. In the design of initial ranging software we dopted the PPC405 as processor, Montavister linux as OS(Operating System), DevRocket as compiler and debugging ool, and C-language as basic development language tool. Especial1y, the designed software can be useful1y applied for ser to decode and design other systems.

In the present study, the numerical simulation has been performed to investigate the flow characteristics of quick coupler. The commercial code, FLUENT, was used for the present study. Design modification of the components was focused on the reduction of the pressure drop for higher efficiency of coupler. For reducing pressure drop of coupler, the shape of guide pine and position of spring were changed properly. The results of CFD showed that the pressure drop has been improved and the performance of modified coupler was superior to that of initial coupler. Therefore, the CFD methods used in the present study could be used to improve the performance of a variety of couplers.

In the present study, the numerical simulation has been performed to investigate the performance of the gas-liquid ejector. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of variable motive pressure and the suction chamber size on the performance of ejector. The commercial CFD software, ANSYS CFX with the proper modeling was applied for analyzing the internal flow. This simulation was conducted in the variation of motive pressure and suction chamber size. The air and water were selected as the operation gas and liquid. In the results, the mass flow rate of air and water increase when the motive pressure increases. The gas-liquid mass flow rates ratio almost constant regardless of the increase of the motive pressure. The more water was inhaled by increasing the suction chamber size. The results is showing that the mass flow rates of air and water are influenced by the motive pressure and the suction chamber size.

In the present study, the effects of the stagger angles on the aerodynamic performances in the vaned centrifugal compressor has been investigated by CFD methods. The diffuser vane angles were varied in the range of ±10 deg. from the initial-design points. The commercial Navier-Stokes solver, ANSYS-CFX were applied to solve the impeller-diffuser flowfields. Through the numerical results, the desirable setting angles were proposed to fit the best performance to the variation of the operating conditions.
