The objective of this paper is to investigate the axial strength of concrete specimens strengthened by section enlargement. Experimental variable in this study is the strength difference between inner and outer concretes. Static loading test have been carried out on 8 types of specimens. The results obtained from test and analysis showed that the axial strength of specimens had been greatly influenced by the effect of Poisson's ratio and the stress-strain relation of inner and outer concretes. An approach method to predict axial strength of concrete strengthened by section enlargement was suggested.
