This paper presents a novel way to reduce hysteresis in piezoelectric actuator by connecting the actuator with a capacitor in a series circuit. The change in hysteresis with respect to the capacitor was examined. 0.2Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O₃-0.8Pb(Zr?.₄?? Ti?.?₂?)O₃ ceramic material was used as a piezoelectric material for the actuator. Displacement of the actuator was measured in a capacitive gap sensor measuring system. In case of inserting a capacitor in a total circuit, hysteresis became dramatically decreased, and then finally the hysteresis value can be reduced below 0.3%.

The change in hysteresis with respect to the capacitor was examined. 0.2Pb(Mg<SUB>1/3</SUB>Nb<SUB>2/3</SUB>)O₃-0.8Pb(Zr<SUB>0.475</SUB> Ti<SUB>0.525</SUB>)O₃ ceramic material was used as a piezoelectric material for the actuator. Displacement of the actuator was measured in a capacitive gap sensor measuring system. In case of inserting a capacitor in a total circuit, hysteresis became dramatically decreased, and then finally the hysteresis value can be reduced below 0.2%. It was found in this present study that reducing the hysteresis in the actuator is dependent upon the characteristics of the capacitor in total circuit and also operating frequency.

This study presents the combined effect of electric field application and mechanical compressive stress loading on deformation in a multilayer ceramic actuator, designed with stacking alternatively 0.2(PbMn<SUB>1/3</SUB>Nb<SUB>2/3</SUB>O₃)-0.8(PbZr<SUB>0.475</SUB> Ti<SUB>0.525</SUB>O₃) ceramics and Ag-Pd electrode. The deformation behaviors were thought to be attributed to relative 180° domain quantities which is determined by pre-loaded stress and electric field. The non-linearity of piezoelectricity and strain are dependent upon the young's modulus resulting from the domain reorientation.

Recently, piezoelectric transformer is applied to wide fields. Multi layer piezoelectric transformer has the advantage of high step up ratio, high electromechanical coupling coefficient(Kp) and high mechanical quality factor(Qm), however it shows the peeling-phenomenon of electrode, and high price due to high sintering temperature. Therefore this study focus on the method for fabrication of high power rosen type piezoelectric transformers.

(BaSr)TiO₃ thick films were prepared by tape casting method using BaTiO₃ and SrTiO₃ powder slurry in order to investigate dielectric properties and low temperature sintering. Sintering density was 5.7 g/㎤ and the BST sample exhibited the maximum dielectric constant, tunability at temperatures near phase transition point. The dielectric constant was increased and curie temperature was shifted to higher temperature with increasing of annealing temperature.

With recent advanced in portable electric devices, wireless sensor, MEMS and bio-Mechanics device, the new typed power supply, not conventional battery but self-powered energy source is needed. Particularly, the system that harvests from their environments are interests for use in self powered devices. For very low powered devices, environmental energy may be enough to use power source. Therefore, in other to made piezoelectric energy harvesting device. The made 31type triple-morph cantilever was resulted from the conditions of 100㏀, 0.25g, 154㎐ respectively. The thick film was prepared at the condition of 6.57Vrms, and its power was 432.31㎼ and its thickness was 50㎛. And than, the fabricated piezoelectric cantilever was packaged for application.
