This study presents a procedure for discrimination of artificial events from earthquakes occurred in and around the Korean Peninsula using data set in the Wonju KSRS seismograph network, Korea. Two training sets representing natural and artificial earthquakes were constructed with 150 and 56 events, respectively, with high signal to noise ratio. A frequency band, Pg(4-6 Hz)/Lg(5-7 Hz), which is optimal for the discrimination of seismic sources was derived from the two-dimensional grid of Pg/Lg spectral amplitude ratio. The corrections for the effects of earthquake magnitude and hypocentral distance were carried out for improvement of discrimination capability. For correcting the effect of magnitude dependence due to the inverse proportionality of corner frequency to seismic moment, the Brune’s source spectrum was subtracted from the observation spectrum. The spectrum was corrected using the optimal damping coefficient to remove damping effect with the hypocentral distance. The effect of locally varying spectrum ratio was cancelled correcting variation of wave propagation along the ray path. The performance in discrimination between training sets of natural and artificial events was compared using the Mahalanobis distance in each step of correction. The procedure of magnitude, distance, and path corrections show clear improvements of the discrimination results with increasing Mahalanobis distance, from 1.98 to 3.01, between two training sets.

목적: 본 논문에서는 CT 검사 시 Tin-Filter 적용에 따라 metal artifact를 감소시킬 수 있는지에 초점을 맞추고 연구를 진행하였다. 대상 및 방법: CT장비는 SIEMENS사의 Somatom Force를 사용하였다. IM Nail을 이용하여 자체 제작한 팬텀과 AAPM 팬텀을 CTDIvol 10 mGy을 기준으로 80 kV부터 150 kV까지 10 kV단위로 스캔하여 Noise와 SNR을 구하였으며 Tin-Filter는 150 kV에 적용되었다. 정밀도를 측정하기 위한 척도로 RMSE 기법이 사용되었고, PH5 팬텀의 Liver nodule, Portal vein 두 부분을 이용하여 리커트 척도로 정성적 평가를 실시하였다. 결과 값들은 통계프로그램 SPSS를 사용하여 분산분석(ANOVA)을 진행하였다. 결과: 자체제작 팬텀 및 AAPM 팬텀을 이용한 Noise 및 SNR 평가에서 kV가 올라감에 따라 Noise가 감소하는 경향을 보였으며 특히 Tin-Filter를 적용했을 때 52.3~79.9%까지 대폭 감소하였다(P<0.01). RMSE값은 140 kV에서 최댓값인 34.27, Tin-Filter가 적용된 Tin150 kV에서 최솟값인 5.95의 값을 보였다. 리커트 척도를 이용한 정성적 평가에서도 kV 그룹 간에는 통계적으로 차이가 없어 영상의 시각적 평가에서는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다(p=0.792). 결론: Tin-Filter를 적용하여 검사를 진행하였을 때 선량의 증가 없이 영상의 전체적인 질은 유지하면서 metal artifact를 감소시킬 수 있는 것으로 사료된다. Purpose: In this study, we focused on whether we can reduce the metal artifact by using Tin-Filter in CT scan Somatom Force(SIEMENS,Germany) was used for the CT equipment. Materials & Method: Noise and SNR were obtained by scanning the self-produced phantom using IM Nail and AAPM phantom in units of 10 kV from 80 kV to 150 kV based on CTDIvol 10 (mGy). Tin-Filter was applied to 150 kV.RMSE was used to measure the precision, and qualitative assessment was performed by using the Likert scale on liver noduleand portal vein of PH5 phantom. Result values were analyzed by ANOVA Test using statistical program SPSS. Noise and SNR evaluation using self-produced phantom and AAPM phantom showed a tendency of noise reduction with increasing kV. Result: Especially, when Tin-Filter was applied, it decreased 52.3%~79.9% (P<0.01). The maximum value of RMSE was 34.27 at 140 kV, and the minimum value of RMSE was 5.95 at the Tin150 kV with the Tin-Filter. In the case of qualitative assessment, there was no statistically significant difference in image evaluation (p=0.792). Conclusion: As a result, it is considered that the metal artifact can be reduced without degrading the overall quality of the image and increasing the Dose, if the scan is performed using the Tin-filter.
Dual energy CT와 Spectral CT를 이용한 선량 및 물질변화 따른 유용성 비교

목적: Dual energy CT와 Spectral CT를 사용하여 선량과 Iodione함유량, 물질 별로 각 장비의 단일에너지 유용성를 비교해 보고자한다. 대상 및 방법: 장비는 SIEMENS사의 192 (384)Channel Dual source SOMATOM Force와 Philips사의 IQon Spectral CT를 사용하였고, 본 실험 사용된 팬텀은 인체조직등가물질을 표현한 Tissue Characterization Phantom (Gammex467), 촬영조건은 두 장비 동일한 조건으로 하여 CTDIvol를 20 mGy, 30 mGy, 40 mGy,로 설정하여 Helical scan하였다. 또한 조영제 Phantom은 Iodine을 2.5 mgI/mL, 5 mgI/mL, 7 mgI/mL 10 mgI/mL, 15 mgI/mL를 생리식염수와 혼합하여 Total Volume 50 ml로 자체 제작하였다. 조직Phantom과 조영제Phantom을 장비 별로 스캔 후 Monoenergetic image를 얻어 40 keV에서100 keV의 해당하는 HU값을 비교해보았다. 결과: 조직Phantom과 조영제Phantom을 CTDIvol변화를 줘 검사하였을 때 여러 에너지의 monoE[keV]가 HU값은 크게 변하지 않았으며 두 장비 모두 비슷한 값을 제공하였다. Water와 liver와 같은 CT Number값이 낮은 물질들은 40 keV에서100 keV로 올렸을 때 다른 조직들보다 변화의 폭이 적음을 알 수 있었고. Iodine과 CB2 Resin-30 % CaCO3와 CB2 Resin-50 % CaCO3을 비교해 보았을 때, MonoE값을 40keV에서100 keV으로 올렸을 때 HU값 또한 두 장비 모두 큰 폭으로 변화하였다. 결론: Dual energy CT와 Spectral CT에서 MonoE[keV]값은 유의하게 측정되었으며, 임상에 적용 시 결석과 같은 칼슘을 함유하고 있는 물질 경우 MonoE를 이용하여 연부조직과의 차이를 분석하여 진단 폭을 한층 넓혀줄 것으로 사료된다. Purpose: This paper is written to compare usefulness of mono-Energy images related to radiation dose, iodine content concentration, and various substances, using Spectral CT and Dual energy CT. Material and method: The equipment used in this study is the SIEMENS 192 (384) Channel Dual source SOMATOM Force and the Philips IQon Spectral CT. The phantom used in this experiment is Tissue Characterization Phantom (Gammex467) which represents tissue equivalent material. In the same circumstance for both equipment, helical scan was performed with increased CTDIvol such as 20 mGy, 30 mGy, 40 mGy. Also, Phantom for comparison according to contrast agent concentration was prepared by mixing 2.5 mgI/mL, 5 mgI/mL and 7 mgI/mL, 10 mgI/mL 15 mgI/mL of each iodine with normal saline to have 50 ml of total volume. The Tissue Characterization Phantom and the phantom for contrast agent comparison were scanned by the equipment from SIEMENS and Philips. This study evaluated Hounsfield Unit (HU) values obtained from them on monoE image sat from 40 keV to 100 keV. Result: When the tissue phantom and the contrast agent Phantom were examined by CTDIvol changes, HU values at the level of various monoE[keV] were not significantly changed. Also, the similar results was obtained from using both equipment. As the level of monoE[keV] increased from40 keV to 100 keV, the substances with lower CT number such as water and liver showed less variation of HU values than other tissues. However, comparing iodine, CB2 Resin-30 % CaCO3 and CB2 Resin-50 % CaCO3, the results of HU values significantly changed, as the level of monoE[keV] increased from 40 keV to 100 keV with both equipment. Conclusion: HU values obtained from various monoE[keV] images in Dual energy CT and Spectral CT indicated almost same. In the clinical applications, the use of monoE[keV] images is expected to broaden the range of diagnosis by helping to detect the differences between soft tissues and substances containing calcium such as stone.

The present study compared purification methods of hen egg yolk immunoglobulin (IgY) from the hen immunized with Edwardsiella tarda. The purification of anti-E. tarda IgY was performed by four different methods, polyethylene glycol (PEG), chloroform polyethylene glycol (Chloroform-PEG), ammonium sulfate and purification kit. Purified IgY had heavy chain of 64 kDa and light chain of 27 kDa size. IgY purified from the hen immunized with E. tarda showed higher ELISA values and agglutination titers than those with IgY purified from the non-immunized hen as a negative control. In addition, purified IgY recognized similar E. tarda proteins to those with anti-E. tarda rabbit serum by western blotting. Purified IgY had an agglutination titer of 1 : 5 12 by PEG method and ammonium sulfate method, and 1 : 128 by chloroform-PEG method and purification kit. Moreover, PEG method was the most rapid method among the four different IgY purification methods. These results indicate that PEG method is effective purification method maintaining biological activity of the IgY.

A stable cell line, BSBS (black seabream spleen), was established from the cells in spleen of black seabream, Acanthopagrus schlegeli, and characterized. Subculture maintained more than 60 passages and mophologically, BSBS cell was epithelioid cell. The cells grew optimally at 20℃ in Leibovitz`s L-15 medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum with incubation temperature of 20℃. BSBS cells supported the growth of marine birnavirus (MABV Y-6), chum salmon reovirus (CSV), spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) and hirame rhabdovirus (HIRRV). Thus, the new cell line may be useful for studying wide range of fish viruses.

An Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus strain (IHNV-RTK) was isolated from cultured rainbow trout at Kumi in Korea during 2000 and 2001. In the RT-PCR amplification with the specific primer set designed from IHNV G protein region, a 540 bp PCR product was amplified from the RTK strain. The RTK strain showed higher sequence homology with the published IHNV G protein genes (RB-76, LR-73, Col-85, and Carson-89).

The high mortality of cultured juvenile turbot, Scophthalmus maximus occurred in Gochang on June, 2003. The diseased fish was lethargic with reduced feed intake. Grossly, these fish showed pale body, abdominal extension and exophthalmia. The dominant internal gross features of diseased fish were severely enlarged spleen, pale gills and or liver. Diseased fish histologically showed basophilic enlarged cells in the kidney, spleen, gill, heart, stomach, intestine, liver, pancreas and adipose tissue. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) reveled hexagonal virions in the cytoplasm of necrotic cells. The viral particles lead a central electron-dense core and an electron translucent zone, and were 136-159 nm in diameter. These results suggest that the virus belonging to the iridoviridae was responsible for the mortality of cultured juvenile turbot.

VSNC is a viral disease causing significant economic losses in cultured carp Ciprinus carpio L. in Korea. Carps were immunized with prepared vaccines against VSNCV and examined specific and nonspecific immune responses. Carps were injected by 0.2㎖ of formalin-killed vaccine(FKV), heat-killed vaccine(HKV) or E-MEM, respectively and dealt with boost with same way two weeks later. The lysozyme activity of serum and chemiluminescent reponses of head-kidney leucocytes showed increased responses during 2-7 days post-first injection(pfi) and post-boost(pb) in the vaccinated fish, and then decreased to the level of control. As measured by ELISA, vaccinated groups showed a significant increase in VSNCV-specific serum antibodies between 2 weeks pfi and 6 weeks pb with a peak at 2 weeks pb. Results of the virus challenge showed that the fish vaccinated with FKV have induced protective immunity, white HKV injection hardly provided protection.
