This experiment was conducted to determine the optimum dosage of gamma rays for inducing artificial mutation of several mutant characters in the flue-cured tobacco. 1) In Hicks and BY 104, the gammarays irradiation has no significantly different effect on seed germination from the control. However, the average dosage for 50% growth inhibition was 25-30kr for all the varieties tested, which inhibition 46-52% and 43-57% of the seedling growths for Hicks and BY 104, respectively. 2) A mutant line 83H-5 was selected from Hicks by irradiation gamma ray at the level of 30kr. It has white flower, more resistance to bacterial wilt, Pssudomonas solanacearum, lower plant and stalk height, narrower leaf width, larger leaf shape index(lento width) and later days to flower when compared with the original variety Hicks. 3) White flower was recessive to pink flower in F, and Br (F1 X Hicks) progenies. F2 population of the cross gave segregation ratio of 3 pink flower:1 white flower, and B, (F1 X 83H-5) Population gave 1:1 ratio. Results showed that the white flower character is governed by a single recessive gene.

Seeds of 2 tobacco varieties were irradiated with 6 dosage levels of gamma-ray rang ing, from 5 KR to 30 KR, in an attempt to induce mutations. A chemical mutagen, Ethyl Methane Sulphonate, was also used in this experiment:3 varieties, 4 levels of concentration from 0.5 to 4%, and 2 different length of treatment, 3 and 12 hours. At the dosage level of 25-30 KR, 50 % of plants died 4 weeks after germination, and those survived plants showed considerable seedling retardation of more than 50%. Sensitivity to irradiation was more profound in B.Y 104 than Hicks variety at the seedling stage. Overall reduction of plant height in the field was 10-15% compared to untreated plants. The treatment of 4% EMS for 3 hours reduced survival rate to 50 % and 2% for 3 hours caused 50% reduction in leaf length. Three varieties responded same to the various treatments, but the survival rate and leaf length decreased as the duration and concentration of EMS treatment increased.

Recently, the automotive industy is improved rapidly. On this, a demend of high quality performance-test-machine for oil hydraulic pump is increased too. In this part, The interface skill between sensor and personal computer, data acquisition & display system and integrated control technology are important control technologies.<br/> Therefore, in this study, we designed a preformance-test-machine using above key technologies and we also maked a integrated PC control system using personal computer which is more progressive and flexible method than PLC control.<br/>

Oil hydraulic pump is widely used in the automotive industry, and it is connected with the life. So. the test of its performance is needed but it is progressive technology which must be combined hydraulic, mechanic and electronic technologies. As the result. it is not developed yet with development of this performance-test-machine, these problems are solved. Moreover. reliable data is obtained with vacuum system and complex heat exchange system in the test machine.
