The main objective of this study is to analyze the heat transfer characteristics in the electric furnace. Local temperatures are measured at various locations in the furnace using the B-type thermocouples. In this paper, mathematical heat transfer model has been developed predict temperature distribution by considering the thermal radiation and transient conduction effect on heating element, crucible and furnace walls. The numerical simulation was performed using the ANSYS-Workbench software, and its results were compared with experimental data. The computational results show that the temperature distributions agreed well with experimental results. Finally, a difference in temperature behavior of the crucible was investigated as some heat transfer parameters change.

Diaphragm compressors are used for a hydrogen compression because it can achieve high gas pressure with high purity. But diaphragm's lifetime may depend on the shape of the cavity and deflection from fluctuation the pressure change, which is necessary to monitored. In this study, the gas and hydraulic oil pressure in the cavity were measured as piston speed varies for diaphragm compressor. The results show pressure change quantities were reduced and maximum pressure points are delayed as the piston moves faster. And the hydraulic pressure were elevated as gas pressure elevated. And the compression period was more faster than expansion period.

The objective of this study was to investigate the combustion characteristics of a sintering burner in the various design factors which were distance and angle of each injection hole. To analyze the characteristics, the numerical study was conducted y 3 cases of differential hole distance and 4 types of hole angle which were 40, 45°, 50°, 55° at each case. To validate the numerical study, an experimental study was performed in a unit of the sintering burner at same conditions of the iron ore sintering process. Throughout the results, some difference was existed in the combustion characteristics about the design factors.

The concept of this engine was created by Ko in 1996 year. Performance simulation for this engine is presented in this paper. The volume of chamber at eccentric shaft angle is evaluated by using geometric models of rotor and rotor housing. A thermodynamic model which includes the first law of thermodynamics, combustion and heat transfer from chamber contents to surroundings is employed. Three processes of gas compression, combustion and expansion are considered and the pressure, temperature and heat release at each shaft angle in each process are computed in this performance simulation. If this engine is manufactured, this performance simulation must be useful for optimal design of this engine with parametric study for various design parameters and operating conditions.<br/>

An experimental study was carried out to investigate the combustion characteristics of an array of multiple pre-mixed methane/air flame jets. The combustion characteristics such as operating ranges and NOx emission were examined with the variation of design factors including slot shape, slot size, and spacing. The flow of the between-jets was compared with using computational analysis. The interaction effects and flow characteristics were analyzed with the jet-to-jet spacing (S/D<SUB>e</SUB>) and slot shape.

Lean combustion in a SI engine is one of the best solution for the improvement of fuel economy and reduction of pollutant emission. In order to access a lean combustion engine, stable combustion at lean AlF ratio is needed. In this paper, the effect of fuel injection timing on lean misfire limit has been investigated in an MPI engine. To investigate the interaction of injection timing and intake flow characteristics, three different swirl generating SCV(swirl control valve) configurations were considered, and investigated their effects on lean misfire limit and torque at full load operation. Also the effects of spark timing on lean combustion has been investigated. Lean combustion has been examined and the results are reported in this paper. SCV B has been developed to satisfy the requirements of sufficient swirl generation to improve lean combustion and stable performance. It is found that injection timing, spark timing and intake air motion govern the stable lean combustion.
