Thermal design was conducted for a solar thermal storage system in a medium-temperature range between 200℃ and 400℃. The system was composed of heat pipes as heat carrier and molten salts as phase-change storage material. Each heat pipe penetrated through the storage system and had two heat-exchanging sections at both ends to interact with high- and low-temperature steams, while it exchanged heat with molten salts in the middle section. During a heat-storage mode, the heat pipes transferred heat from the hot steam at one side to the molten salts and it transferred heat from the molten salt to the cold steam at the other side during the heat-dissipating mode. A tube-bank type heat exchanger theory was applied to this design task to meet the required inlet and outlet temperatures of the steams depending on the operation modes. Several design variables were considered including the lengths of evaporator and condenser of a heat pipe, traverse and longitudinal pitches of the pipe, and the number of rows of the heat pipes for two different molten salt baths. An optimum design results were presented with discussion.
IEEE 802.16e 시스템에서 VoIP 트래픽을 고려한 혼합 전원 절약 모드

본 논문에서는 묵음 억제 기술이 지원되는 VoIP 트래픽에 비 실시간 트래픽을 위한 전원 절약 모드와 실시간 트래픽을 위한 전원 절약 모드를 동시에 적용하는 혼합 전원 절약 모드를 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 사용자들이 통화를 하고 있는 구간에서는 제 2종 전원 절약 모드를 적용하고 상호 침묵 구간에서는 BTE (binary truncated exponent) 알고리즘 혹은 PSID (probabilistic sleep interval decision) 알고리즘을 적용하여 휴지 구간 (sleep interval)의 길이와 위치를 결정한다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 평균 버퍼링 지연 시간, 단말의 에너지 소비 효율, VoIP 패킷의 손실률 등을 고려한다. 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 혼합 전원 절약 모드는 VoIP 서비스의 최대 허용 패킷 손실률을 만족시키면서 단말의 에너지 소비를 제 2종 전원 절약 모드보다 25%까지 낮출 수 있다는 것을 보여준다. In this paper, we propose the method to use power-saving mode (PSM) applicable to non real-time traffic and PSM applicable to real-time traffic simultaneously, for VoIP traffic with silence suppression. The proposed method uses PSC Ⅱ during talk-spurt interval of parties A and/or B and uses PSC Ⅰ or probabilistic sleep interval decision (PSID) method during mutual silence interval, respectively. To evaluate the performance of hybrid PSM (HPSM) based on PSC Ⅱ or PSID method, we present average buffering delay, energy consumption of mobile station and VoIP packet drop probability with simulation runs. Results shows that proposed HPSM decreases energy consumption of mobile station up to 25 % while satisfying the packet drop probability within QoS requirement in case of end-to-end VoIP connection.
